My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin

Chapter 415: Back Up?

Chapter 415: Back Up?

Lukas and his team managed to locate the rooftop from which the shooter had fired.

They recovered several shell casings along the way, but beyond that, there was nothing.

"Fuck!"

Lukas roared, raking a hand through his hair in frustration.

"Check every car that passed through this area before, during, and after the attack—I don’t care! We need more than these damn shell casings!"

He glared across the rooftop of the building overlooking the hotel where the event had been held.

One of his men immediately responded.

"Unit Three is already on it, sir."

"Fuck!"

Lukas cursed again as he paced across the rooftop.

Planting his hands on his hips, he scanned the area.

More Dominion members were combing every inch of the rooftop, searching for anything the shooter might have left behind.

His jaw tightened as murderous intent flashed in his eyes.

"Connect me to them—"

He stopped when another man jogged toward him.

"Sir Lukas."

The man came to a halt a step away.

"Red sent his team to assist. They’ve taken over the cybersecurity investigation."

Lukas frowned.

"Under whose orders? What about the Young Master?"

"Sir Gustav sent word," the man answered, lowering his head slightly. "He said the more people involved, the better our chances of finding something. As for the Young Master... he’s with the Master and Madam."

Lukas’s expression darkened further, though he kept his thoughts to himself.

He hated relying on outside help.

His pride insisted that he was more than capable of handling this himself.

But whoever had orchestrated this operation had done it too cleanly.

He had no choice but to swallow his pride.

In the end, catching the people responsible mattered far more than his ego.

Lukas let out a slow breath before nodding.

"Connect me to whoever Red put in charge." He strode away before raising his voice to everyone on the rooftop. "I don’t care if you have to search every inch of this place! Find me something that leads to the shooter—or shooters!"

Meanwhile, at the Black Dragon Corporation, Gin worked tirelessly alongside the company’s cybersecurity division.

Multiple teams had been assigned different tasks.

One monitored every available camera surrounding the hotel.

Another worked on accessing dashcam footage from vehicles that had passed the building where the shooter had opened fire.

Despite having an elite cybersecurity team working around the clock, there were still limitations.

Many vehicles used older dashcams that stored recordings locally on memory cards instead of automatically uploading them to cloud servers or company databases.

Without physical access to those memory cards, there was no way to retrieve the footage.

"Damn..."

Gin slammed both palms onto the desk before running his fingers through his hair. He leaned back with a frustrated sigh, glaring at his monitor.

Turning to his left, he found Warriyo looking equally displeased.

Warriyo simply shook his head.

The two of them glanced around the office.

Every face reflected the same frustration.

Even with all their expertise combined, there were limits to what technology could do.

They could penetrate the manufacturers’ systems, but if the footage had never been uploaded, there was nothing there to retrieve.

Eventually, Gin and Warriyo looked toward Red and Khan, who stood nearby overseeing the operation.

Both silently shook their heads.

"Fuck," Red muttered, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room. "So there’s nothing else we can do..."

He exhaled. "...except do this the old-fashioned way."

The man overseeing the cybersecurity unit immediately looked toward them.

"I’ll send teams to locate every driver who passed through the area," he ordered before addressing the room.

"Pull up every registered owner. Find their addresses as quickly as possible."

The room immediately burst back into motion.

They had already exhausted nearby CCTV footage.

A dedicated team had reviewed every available camera from surrounding establishments.

Somehow, the shooter had slipped through all of them.

That left only traffic cameras and private dashcams. And that meant an enormous amount of work.

Even if they worked through the night, they doubted they could finish by morning.

Not when they had to identify countless vehicle owners, track them down, and personally retrieve their memory cards.

"This is insane," Khan muttered as he watched everyone continue working despite setback after setback.

Unlike the others, Khan wasn’t focused solely on how sophisticated the attack had been.

He was fascinated by how operations were handled in the big leagues.

Before joining Ashley’s team, he and his men had targeted influential people before. But nothing on this scale.

The attack itself had been meticulously planned. Yet Dominion’s response was just as remarkable.

The results were still limited, but within only a few hours, they’d already completed investigative steps that would normally take large organizations—or even government agencies—a week.

A smaller organization would probably spend an entire month accomplishing the same amount of work.

"Red..." Khan turned toward him, only to find Red staring silently at the room.

His eyes were fixed on the operation, but it was obvious his mind was somewhere else.

Khan frowned. "I wonder what could be important enough to distract you from all this."

His voice snapped Red back to reality.

Red looked at him, and Khan raised an eyebrow.

"What is it?" asked Khan. "Say it. It might help."

Red frowned before sweeping his gaze across the room.

He let out a slow breath.

Instead of answering Khan, he turned toward the man overseeing the cybersecurity unit.

"Hey." He pointed toward the monitors. "The system you’re using... is it new?"

The man nodded. "It was only recently installed. It’s a gift from the newest member of the Master’s board."

"The newest board member...?" Khan echoed.

"Ghost," the man answered, glancing between them. "He said our security infrastructure was too lax. So he gifted the company an entirely new cybersecurity system."

He pointed toward the massive display at the front of the room, where every team’s findings were being consolidated in real time.

"Why are you asking?" Khan asked, turning back to Red.

Red hesitated for a moment before shrugging.

"Well... what are the chances we can contact Ghost and ask for his help?" Red’s eyes narrowed.

"If it’s him... he might be able to find something we can’t."
