My Silly, Sweet Wife
Chapter 1693 - 1483: Abyss City (Part 1)
"Yes, Mr. Ye, please look ahead."
The great demon pointed forward as he replied.
Ye Guichen followed the direction the great demon was pointing and looked ahead.
He saw, faintly, a ring-shaped island emerging in the distance. Unlike the Floating Islands, the island had countless mountain peaks thrusting up into the air.
Trees grew thick and lush, like a pristine primeval forest.
And at the very center of the island, a golden, dazzling castle stood in the middle, emanating an air of solemn antiquity.
"Speed up and move forward."
Now that he had already seen where the Abyss City was, Ye Guichen no longer hesitated and immediately ordered the group to advance at full speed.
As the group continued forward, the appearance of the Abyss City was completely revealed before their eyes.
The towering castle's borders stretched continuously, using the entire Floating Island as its foundation, enclosing the island's trees and peaks within.
From a distance, it looked like the rear garden of an ancient Imperial Palace, incomparably luxurious.
And in front of the castle, several Floating Islands could be seen drifting around the Abyss City.
They seemed to be making a show of joining forces to launch a joint assault on the Abyss City.
Before the Abyss City, a naturally formed chasm lay revealed before everyone, separating the two sides.
The two sides glared at each other like tigers, watching one another warily.
For the moment, they seemed locked in a stalemate.
"The Young Master, it's the Young Master!"
The great demon beside Ye Guichen suddenly screamed excitedly.
"Young Master?"
Ye Guichen looked at the great demon suspiciously.
"My lord, look, isn't that our Demon Clan Young Master!"
The great demon pointed at a man directly in front of the castle.
Ye Guichen followed his gaze.
He saw the man's clothes were tattered, his whole body stained with fresh blood. His aura was chaotic and unstable; at a glance, he had just gone through a battle and seemed to have been gravely wounded.
Looking closely, it was clearly the Demon Clan Young Master Haotian, and behind him stood nine great demons, demonic qi surging around them.
However, at this moment Haotian's cultivation had actually already reached the Immortal Realm, though it seemed to be a forced breakthrough.
Because of that, his realm was unstable, his own power hard to control. He had then forced himself into battle with others, which was why he was now in such a state.
In the distance, Haotian had apparently also seen Ye Guichen's grand procession on the Floating Island.
Thinking it was yet another group of gathered Immortals coming to attack his Abyss City, a troubled look appeared on his face.
"Young Master, this..."
A great demon beside him saw the ever-increasing number of Floating Islands ahead and grew frantic.
"Don't panic!"
Haotian's expression was cold and gloomy as he looked toward the distant Hidden Gate. Deep helplessness flickered in his eyes; the last flame of hope in his heart had already been blown out.
He had fallen back to this Abyss City in order to use this natural barrier before him to temporarily hold off the attacks of these many Immortals.
By doing so, he hoped to stall until the Demon Saint broke the seal; once that happened, their problems could be easily resolved.
But who could have known that after such a long time, by rights the seal on the Hidden Gate should have been growing weaker and weaker.
Given the current strength of the seal, with the Demon Saint's mighty cultivation, it ought to be more than enough to break it.
Yet there was not the slightest movement, and Haotian's heart was gradually sinking into despair.
"No, we'll just fight them to the bitter end!"
Haotian glared at the dense mass of Floating Islands ahead, gritting his teeth as he spoke.
A thousand years ago, just because we were of the Demon Clan, we had to suffer your unjust treatment as Immortals and be sealed away behind the Hidden Gate.
And now, after I have exhausted countless hardships to finally break the Hidden Gate's seal, in the end it still turns into a bridal gown for you Immortals.
It has become merely a tool, a plaything for your path of cultivation. I am truly, utterly unwilling to accept this!
Thinking of all these things, Haotian's anger surged uncontrollably, and he let out a furious roar.
"My lord, they're already at the end of their rope. Should we seize the advantage and press the attack, taking them down in one stroke?"
A sneaky-looking man spoke to a white-robed man in front of him.
"No rush. Let's keep playing with them. It's been a long time since I've felt this way."
The white-robed man looked playfully at the Abyss City before him, seeming to greatly enjoy this feeling of control.
"By the way, where's that Black Dragon? And that little beauty?"
The white-robed man's gaze shifted as he asked the people behind him.
"To think we could actually encounter a Black Dragon here—truly a gift from the heavens," the man thought to himself.
One must know that although the Dragon Clan had signed a pact with the Immortals, for a long time the dragons had remained in seclusion, ignoring worldly affairs, dwelling within Dragon Valley and seldom stepping outside.
What's more, the current lord of the Dragon Clan, with his cultivation, was no weaker than those great powers. Ordinary people hardly dared go to Dragon Valley to invite unnecessary trouble.
Yet the man had never expected that, above this Chaos Sea, he would actually run into a wild Black Dragon.
Its cultivation had even reached the Immortal Realm; if not for his own formidable strength, he would have found it hard to subdue.
But given time, once he tamed it as his mount, he would become the number one figure within the Du Xian Sect.
Relying on this in the current trial, he could also make a dazzling showing and soar straight to the heavens.
"Reporting to my lord, the Dragon Clan is innately proud; this subordinate has, for the moment, found it difficult to tame..."
"But if my lord grants me a bit more time, I will certainly present you with a docile mount."
The man beside him seemed afraid that, upon hearing of his failure, the white-robed man would fly into a rage. He spoke in a trembling voice, his eyes constantly gauging the white-robed man's expression.
"Hmm? Still not tamed?"
Hearing the man's words, the white-robed man was clearly displeased. His previously excited expression vanished at once, and his eyes grew cold as he stared at the man.
