Chapter 1231: This Was Left Behind by Lord Sacrificial Demon Back Then_2

  • Next Chapter

Shen Sui wasn’t actually blaming Alice for taking in the refugees.

If he’d been in the same situation back then, he’d probably have made a similar choice.

But later, Alice going full throttle all the way toward the Arunta Mother Star was a bit too outrageous.

Of course, the most outrageous thing was that those Arunta Empire troops actually cooperated with her that much.

Whether it was Vales Fortress or the satellite belt guarding the mother star, Alice didn’t go through a single battle—she just strolled past them and then directly did an air drop onto the Arunta Mother Star.

Of course, this also had something to do with Alice unquestioningly trusting this patriotic pilot in front of her.

If she’d hesitated for a while, it’s very possible the Third Fleet’s interception notice for Alice’s fleet would have already reached Vales Fortress.

By then, it wouldn’t have been so easy for Alice to pass through or even seize Vales Fortress.

It wasn’t until this moment that Shen Sui learned the pilot’s name.

Locke West Africa.

After listening to Shen Sui’s account, Locke shook his head and said, “The directions and route I gave were not wrong.”

The reason he dared to try blocking or even destroying Alice’s fleet this way was because he had some confidence: the path he’d shown Alice to the Interstellar Federation really was the fastest.

“If you want to reach the Interstellar Federation as fast as possible, you have to come to the Arunta Mother Star.” Locke was still a bit woozy, but his speech was fairly clear. “This place has the largest artificial jump wormhole in the world.”

As he spoke, he glanced at Alice and Shen Sui, then added, “By relying on the artificial wormhole, you can instantly reach the sea region closest to the Interstellar Federation. But this artificial wormhole can only be opened by His Majesty the Emperor, so you can forget about that idea.”

He then said to Alice, “With your current capabilities, you can only get to the Interstellar Federation by normal travel, and even at light speed that would still take several years.”

The Arunta Empire’s territory was just that vast.

If they hadn’t mastered artificial wormhole technology, Arunta would have had no way to effectively rule such a sprawling domain.

The authority over the artificial wormholes was also what Emperor Typhon’s power rested on.

Right now Emperor Typhon was personally leading an expedition at the front.

Even if he were on the mother star right now, Alice obviously wouldn’t be able to bypass him and directly obtain the permission to open the wormhole.

“Several years?” Alice muttered. “Isn’t that way too long?”

Alice wasn’t completely unable to accept that kind of voyage.

After all, during the journey she could hop over to other worlds from time to time, so it wouldn’t exactly be boring.

But if there was a better option available and she still chose this method, Alice would only feel like she was an idiot.

“Is there any way to get permission for that wormhole?” Alice looked at Locke and asked.

Maybe because of Shen Sui, Locke no longer held such intense hostility toward Alice.

He was a patriot, but not a fanatic.

Locke shook his head and said, “The wormhole system is the foundation of the royal family’s very survival. How could they just casually let you get access to it?”

“Besides, the Empire just ordered a full mobilization not long ago.”

Emperor Typhon had departed with all the main forces.

That meant there was practically no way to scrape together many reinforcements inside the Empire.

Since there was no need and no plan for reinforcements from the rear, Emperor Typhon naturally didn’t leave any wormhole key behind on the mother star.

It’s just that…

This emperor was a little too outrageous, wasn’t he?

Who fights a war like this?

The Interstellar Federation was indeed strong, but did he really need to empty the nest and gamble everything on one battle?

That enormous fleet of tens of thousands of starships—just the logistics alone must be an astronomical number, right?

Wait a sec!

“With a military force that huge, did they just not consider logistics at all?”

For logistics and supplies to arrive in time, they’d also need the wormholes, right?

“Logistics?” Locke repeated with a puzzled expression.

Seeing the confusion on the pilot’s face, Shen Sui himself started feeling confused.

Had interstellar warfare already evolved to the point where you don’t need logistics?

But thinking about it carefully, that kind of made sense.

When you’re spanning several light-years, having the rear provide stable logistics is easier said than done.

Back when he was waging war in the game, he’d never considered logistics either.

Logistics? What logistics?

There are so many planets. Just wage war to feed the war, doesn’t that solve it?

Clearly, Emperor Typhon was using the same strategy Shen Sui had used when he first started the war.

“There’s no technical way to break through the permissions?” Alice still wouldn’t give up.

“Technical way?” Locke let out a small laugh. “You seriously don’t know whose hands this artificial wormhole system came from, do you?”

“It’s the proudest masterpiece of the Empire’s greatest emperor, the Great Emperor of Sacrificial Demon!”

“Sacrificial Demon… Great Emperor?” Alice gave Shen Sui a suspicious look. “So… you’ve got a way?”

“What?” Locke had thought Alice was talking to him, only to realize she was addressing Shen Sui.

Only then did Shen Sui finally react.

Oh right~!

Wasn’t this empire founded by me?

Even though the artificial wormhole system had been refined over a thousand years and was totally different from how it was back then.

But if they hadn’t modified the underlying foundation…

They probably hadn’t touched the foundation.

Shen Sui vaguely remembered that back in the real world’s internet, quite a few Arunta Empire Life Card Masters had discussed this artificial wormhole system before.

Their assessment was that this was a super legacy code pile that had been maintained for over a thousand years.

“That first-generation Great Emperor, if we put him in our world, he’d absolutely be the trashiest programmer ever!”

“He didn’t write comments, fine, but he actually serialized a novel in the comments!”

A thousand-year-old legacy code pile…

If this really was the artificial wormhole system he’d left behind back then, Shen Sui might actually be able to boot it up.

After all, for convenience back then, he’d left a backdoor for himself—face-scan teleportation and all that.

With that thought in mind, Shen Sui took Alice to the wormhole entrance of the mother star.

It was some distance away from the Arunta Mother Star.

The main structure was composed of more than sixty super-satellites.

The satellites silently orbited the wormhole node at the center.

Normally, this place was no different from any other Star Realm; ships could sail freely through this region.

But when the device was activated and the wormhole opened, the space here would undergo violent fluctuations.

Then, with a massive injection of energy, the space would fold.

Just like folding paper, it would overlap the node you’re at with the destination node.

Then the device would terminate the wormhole state; since the starting point no longer existed, you would be judged as having appeared at the destination in the end.

That was the rough principle behind spatial warp.

With a “might as well try” mindset, Shen Sui had Locke pilot the ship into the recognition range of the wormhole activation device.

Locke still didn’t understand what Shen Sui was trying to do, and poured cold water on him: “It’s useless. This was the masterpiece of the Great Emperor of Sacrificial Demon back in the day. It’s not something the likes of you and me can break through…”

Before he could finish, the activation device that had just recognized Shen Sui’s face started running.

The next second, a huge star map popped up in front of Shen Sui.

After hundreds of years of expansion by the Arunta Empire, this star map had become extremely vast.

The little white glimmers on the star map were wormhole nodes for destinations.

Because there were simply too many, Shen Sui’s eyes went completely blurry just looking at them.

He didn’t even know where the Interstellar Federation was.

To Shen Sui, this was a completely new power.

After all, in the era he came from, he would never have allowed such a ridiculously strong power to exist.

Locke stared, utterly dumbfounded, at the activated wormhole in front of him.

He simply couldn’t believe what he was seeing, to the point that he didn’t even hear Shen Sui’s question.

Shen Sui patiently asked again.

Only then did Locke look at Shen Sui in terror.

“Who the hell are you?!” Locke’s voice trembled, almost breaking into a shriek.

Shen Sui scratched his cheek. “If you’re asking what I’m called in this world…”

“You can call me Sacrificial Demon.”

“Sacrificial Demon Typhon.”

“Damn it, what brain fart was I having back then to come up with this crappy name?!” Shen Sui grumbled, breaking character himself as heed.
