My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World
Chapter 118: A Flaw That Remains Operationally Useful
Chapter 118: Chapter 118: A Flaw That Remains Operationally Useful
Rei walked a slow half-circle around me, the same inventory walk as before, but the heat in it had changed, less pure predation, more assessment of a puzzle that had answered her out loud.
"Gina’s table also had a note about dual registration variance," she said from behind my shoulder.
"Sixty hours. Your handler looked like she hadn’t slept."
"Jenna rarely looks like she has."
"Will Gianna sign?"
"That’s for her to decide."
"And if she doesn’t?"
"Then the slate narrows, and Jenna scores what remains."
I turned enough to see Rei’s face again.
"I’m not forcing her name onto a form to make your bracket prettier."
"Good."
Rei stopped.
"Because if you did, she’d hate you for it, and I’d respect you less."
Silence held for a beat. Somewhere deep in the guild, a sparring alarm sounded and cut off. The private hall stayed sealed around us.
"You really aren’t angry about the video," Rei said, quieter.
"I already told you. You forced a timeline I should have forced myself."
I met her eyes.
"I’m angry you aimed it at her like a tool. I’m not confused about the result. She knows. We’re here. The dual feed still breaks because you push in when she pulls away. Those are separate problems. I’m not going to merge them into one convenient grudge to make your night-session pitch easier."
Rei’s smile returned, thinner, more genuine.
"You’re harder to move when you’re not drowning."
"That was the point of the terms."
"Mm."
She stepped back toward her bag at last.
"Tomorrow, overlapping presence. I’ll keep the blood budget clean unless you force a corner. You keep your primary from turning every distribution call into a referendum on who you kissed last."
"And the ten?"
"The ten is interesting."
Rei slung the bag over her shoulder.
"Second is acceptable. For now. If you ever say it like a consolation prize, I’ll make the dual feed fail on purpose and tell Jenna it was your regulation."
"Understood."
She paused at the door, hand on the frame, ponytail sharp against the white corridor light beyond.
"Revien."
"Yeah?"
"When the night session does happen, training or not, don’t insult me by going empty behind your eyes. If I’m second on your apocalypse list, I want the man who decided that. Not the curse wearing him."
The door sealed behind her before I could answer.
I stood alone in the hall with the wrinkled tank, the stinging scratches, the anchor still marked by Gianna’s claim, and Rei’s inventory still ghosting along my jaw.
Ten names. Two filled.
A provisional window counting down. A dual feed that could not yet hold opposite instincts at the same speed.
I put the coat on, felt Fracture Step idle in my legs, and spoke into the quiet where the system always listened.
"She’s going to be a problem."
[Correct. Secondary candidate trajectory remains high-value.]
[Favorability: 38 / 100]
[Note: Honest ranking increased voluntary engagement markers.]
"Of course it did."
[Host continues to prefer difficult women.]
I almost laughed.
"Mark that as a structural flaw."
[Marked. Flaw remains operationally useful.]
I found Jenna in the observation annex above the private halls, not in her main office.
The feeds from the morning block were still up on the glass, frozen frames of dual-link failure, pair-sync curves, a thermal overlay where Gianna’s claim kiss had registered as a sharp emotional spike on my primary channel.
Jenna didn’t look surprised to see me.
She muted a column of numbers and pointed at the chair opposite her without ceremony.
"You came to review," she said.
"Not to argue about the slate."
"Both, if you’re offering."
I sat.
The scratches along my arm pulled when I folded my hands.
"The dual feed broke twice in the same way. I can hold pair work with Gianna. I can hold contact pressure with Rei. The moment both directives hit the same node, the chains tear."
"I saw."
Jenna expanded a graph.
Conflicting motor-emotional vectors stacked in red where the links had gone rigid.
"Gianna’s channel defaults to distance under stress. Rei’s defaults to closure and take. You’re trying to drive both as if they share a steering axis. They don’t."
"How do I fix it before the overlapping block?"
"You don’t fix the people in one night." Her tone stayed practical.
"You fix the sequence. Tomorrow you establish primary rhythm first, thirty to forty seconds of clean pair movement with Gianna alone on the line. Then you add Rei at reduced bandwidth, not full dual feed. Give the secondary a tracking link before you give her a motor link. If the node starts to conflict, you drop Rei first, not Gianna. Primary priority has to be more than a label when the hardware panics."
I nodded slowly.
"And if Rei refuses reduced bandwidth?"
"Then she fails a voluntary participation metric and the dual path narrows. I already told her coercion voids the measurement."
Jenna flicked to another pane.
"Your regulation held. That’s the good news. Named reaches, no absorption spikes, bracelet ceiling intact. The bad news is cognitive load. Dual feed at your current integration tier is still expensive. You recovered fast. You won’t if the mock scenario on day three stacks fatigue on top of conflict."
"What else?"
"Stop letting private history write the first second of every drill."
She looked at me over the display.
"Gianna kissed you on the mat. Rei inventoried it. Neither of those facts belongs in the opening stance of an evaluation block. If your distribution calls sound like loyalty tests, the data gets noisy, and my sponsorship gets harder to defend."
"I’m not trying to turn training into a referendum."
"Intent is irrelevant to the residual log."
Jenna softened nothing.
"Efficiency is what the board will care about. Efficiency is what I’m scoring. You want both names on the provisional slate, you show me a stress envelope that doesn’t tear itself apart for personal reasons."
Silence held for a breath. The frozen frame of the snapped chains hung between us.
"There’s something else," I said.
"Rei saw residential notes. She knows about the session with you."
Jenna’s expression didn’t change much.
A slight tightening at the mouth, nothing more.
"Gina’s table isn’t as private as Gina believes. I’ll handle the leak path. You don’t confirm details to Rei or anyone else. Regulation work stays classified as handler protocol."
"She already used it as a wedge."
"Of course she did."
Jenna shut down the thermal overlay.
"Lawless trains for advantage. You don’t hand her additional surface area."
I leaned back in the chair.
"I told Rei the network target was ten. That she was second."
Jenna went still in a way that meant she was recalculating several boards at once.
"What network?"
"I will explain when the time comes."
"That was either honest or reckless," she said.
"Possibly both. Don’t put numbers like that on Gianna’s table until you’re prepared for the emotional cost. She restored your primary channel under strain. She does not need to hear she is first among ten before she has decided whether she can stand in a bracket with the second."
"Understood."
