Chapter 1099 - 1102: How Miserable It Is to Be Deceived

Melody Thorne lifted that painting, and a small hidden compartment appeared there. Lying inside was a huge painting, and at first glance Melody recognized it. Even without seeing the whole thing yet, this had to be that painting!

"Is... is this the one we’re looking for?"

"Yeah." Melody took it out. "Hurry downstairs and find a long, plain box, then have Leon Rivers’s people meet us. Before Ethan Knight comes back, we need to get out of here!"

"Okay." Chloe Summers’s heart was pounding wildly as she rushed downstairs and found an inconspicuous box, so that carrying it out wouldn’t attract attention!

"Click!" The bedroom door was suddenly flung open, and several people appeared at the doorway.

"What are you doing?" A bodyguard stepped forward and shoved Chloe aside, picked up the thing on the floor, and opened it.

"Miss Knight, they’re stealing the painting!"

Flora Knight’s expression changed drastically. Her gaze fell on Melody and Chloe. "These two are the ones my brother values so much? Is he blind? Take them down!"

"Yes, ma’am."

In the main hall, Melody and Chloe stood calmly in the middle, keeping their composure. After receiving the news, Ethan Knight rushed back in from outside.

"Didn’t I tell you you can’t just barge into my place whenever you feel like it?"

Even facing his own sister, Ethan’s expression was still ice-cold.

"Bro." Flora put down the teacup in her hand and let out a laugh. "You still hate women this much. Even with me, your own sister, it’s the same. But do you know how badly you’d have been duped if I hadn’t come today? The future young master of Knight Palace Gate would’ve become a complete joke!"

"This has to do with them?" Ethan pointed at Melody.

"Yeah. Look, if I hadn’t shown up in time, they’d probably have carried this painting out by now. And you’re actually letting your subordinates wander into your bedroom as they please!"

Ethan’s gaze fell on the painting inside that ordinary cardboard box, and his eyes darkened blood-red as he snatched it up.

"You took it?"

Melody stood there steady and calm. Ethan had already been "turned" by her; he shouldn’t go too hard on her.

"I accidentally triggered the mechanism while cleaning up and tidying the bedroom and saw this. I just wanted to find a cardboard box to pack it up properly and put it away. I didn’t expect Miss Knight to suddenly appear, and without asking anything she dragged me down here!"

The implication being that she’d never planned on taking the painting away at all.

"You believe him?" Flora caught the hesitation in Ethan’s eyes.

"He’s mine from now on. It’s no big deal if he’s seen this painting." Ethan handed the painting to a servant. "Put it away."

"Yes, sir!"

"Bro, how long has it even been since we last met, and you’ve already become like this? Look at yourself—are you still you? Any random person can just trick you now?"

"Flora Knight!"

"What, I’m not even allowed to say it?"

Flora’s gaze slid to Melody, her eyes narrowing as she took in the thick foundation on Melody’s face, the exaggeratedly darkened brows, the little mustache, and finally those ears—with tiny piercings. Her short hair was cut close, but too fluffy.

A woman disguised as a man—she could tell at a glance. She’d played this trick herself often enough!

When it comes to seeing through another woman, women are usually the most accurate.

"Bro, aren’t you the one who hates women the most?" Flora’s hand moved to undo the buttons on Melody’s suit jacket.

Melody took a step back.

"Miss Knight, please show some respect!" Chloe stepped in front of her, her palms slick with cold sweat.
