My Superpower Is Piloting Magical Girl Corpses?

Chapter 250: The P Incident and...The Beginning

  • Next Chapter

A few days later.

Wind Capital Sixth Division.

Chief's Office.

Unlike what many people imagined.

As a secret department in all of Wind Capital that almost no one knew about, and those who did know mostly kept it under wraps, specifically targeting [Anomalies] and [Supernaturals], the leader's office was surprisingly unremarkable. It was about thirty-plus square meters, with a layout not much different from an ordinary office.

If there was anything strange about it, it was probably that the bookshelves weren't filled with various documents, but rather crammed with all sorts of miscellaneous old books from different fields.

On the antique shelf beside it sat a pile of random objects - a rusty brass compass, an irregular piece of black meteorite, a bone bead bracelet carved with strange runes... all kinds of peculiar things.

Only faintly, those things seemed to carry some strange fluctuations, but upon closer inspection, it felt like an illusion.

A woman with pink braids and deep yellow eyes sat behind the rosewood desk, staring at the computer screen on it.

She looked around twenty-something years old, her complexion slightly pale, her features considered delicate. She wore a neutral white shirt, dress pants on the lower half, and a thin lit cigarette was pinched between the fingers of her left hand.

A nameplate sat on the desk, carved with three characters.

Qin Shengshi.

Knock knock knock.

The sound of knocking suddenly came through.

Without lifting her head, she said, "Come in."

Footsteps and the sound of the door opening followed, and a somewhat dry voice rang out in the office.

"Reporting."

The man who walked in looked around thirty years old. Behind his round-framed glasses were a pair of dead-fish eyes. His appearance was utterly ordinary, with short deep blue hair, and he radiated an aura of lacking vitality. At his waist hung a wooden sword, with the character "Lake" carved on the hilt.

But what was extremely incongruous was that on top of his head, he had tied a small braid with a pink rubber band, and even clipped into his hair was a pair of fluffy brown wolf-ear toys, completely mismatched with his temperament. It looked more like some mischievous child's prank.

Wearing that hairstyle without any sense of shame, he said calmly, "North Suburb Liuxing Street cleanup complete."

"A wolf-dog was injected with 'P Agent' by someone, lost control and mutated into a harmful beast. Its curse power level has grown to the equivalent of the mid-first Energy Level."

"It was cunning. The P Agent seemed to have increased its intelligence. At first, it only secretly ate large amounts of raw meat from nearby shops, but later it started directly targeting people."

"I arrived in time enough, but three people had already been harmed, including its former owner."

"Follow-up handling and the harmful beast's corpse, the Fifth Division is already on it."

While listening to the report, Qin Shengshi kept her gaze on the documents on the screen, letting the smoke from her fingertips curl upward, ash falling into the ashtray.

"I understand. Good work, Yan Jing."

After a few seconds, she said softly again, "Mutated beasts injected with P Agent... citywide, this is already the fourteenth case this month."

Yan Jing's dead-fish eyes showed no ripple at all, but his tone carried a hint of gravity: "If we count humans, then it's the 47th case this month."

Qin Shengshi stubbed out the cigarette butt in the ashtray: "Subsidiary E-level anomaly events number 41, D-level 6."

"In other words, the situation is still worsening."

"Yes, and I'm afraid all of it comes from the same source."

"Chief, you must have seen the report. At every crime scene, we detected residual 'P Traces.'"

"Although not all of it was the agent - some came into contact through other channels - the curse power signature within it is common across all cases."

"Not only did Luo Xi verify it, but the Fourth Division's analysis report has also confirmed this matter."

In the recent string of supernatural public security incidents in Wind Capital, whether it was the agent that allowed ordinary people and animals to temporarily become superhumans when injected, or the artifacts that granted curse power and curse power adaptability at the cost of burning one's life after acquisition, all of them contained that anomalous component.

Composition unknown, origin unknown, with some subtle differences in effects, but there was one strange commonality.

The agent bottles often bore a special mark printed on them.

The letter "P."

Therefore, this agent was called P Agent, and the Sixth Division also collectively referred to this entire string of incidents as the "P Incidents."

"..."

Yan Jing adjusted his round-framed glasses, his brows slightly furrowing: "Chief, what we can discover and handle is probably only..."

He didn't finish the sentence, but the meaning behind his words went without saying.

Only those who had lost control were exposed to the Sixth Division, or rather, to official eyes.

Wind Capital was simply too large.

As one of the largest international metropolises in this world, the city proper alone had a diameter of nearly a hundred kilometers, and the suburbs were absurdly vast on top of that.

Combined with intense population mobility and all sorts of complex situations...

Many times, the Sixth Division's operations inevitably carried a degree of lag.

Although those new-style superhumans who transformed through external means were all a ragtag bunch in the eyes of Yan Jing, a second-grade sorcerer, who knew how many existed in the shadows who had obtained this power falling from the sky but never made a sound?

Or perhaps, had already been absorbed by the organization or individual behind this matter?

Even those who had lost control and were exposed on the surface were very likely just a smokescreen to divert their attention and drain their energy.

This mass-production superhuman technology was absolutely not for ordinary troublemaking.

"Your concerns are right."

Qin Shengshi naturally knew what he was talking about and sighed softly.

"Even second Energy Level new-style superhumans are being artificially created, without even requiring curse power adaptability. Even at the cost of burning one's life... this kind of method is truly unheard of."

"The components in the agent still cannot be fully analyzed to this day."

"The scale of the organization behind it and their technical reserves must not be underestimated. There has to be a deeper purpose."

The atmosphere in the office grew somewhat heavy.

But the next moment, she spoke again: "However, it's not like we're completely without options."

"Wu Nuo has been sweeping through the West District these past few days. Yesterday he sent word that he seems to have found some key clues."

"If all goes well, we may soon be able to trace the thread back to the source and find the true origin."

Upon hearing that name, Yan Jing's body straightened slightly.

"As expected of the Deputy Chief."

Even though he was a person who rarely showed emotion, when mentioning that [Strongest of Wind Capital], he offered ample respect.

It had nothing to do with the Guyue Sect, nor even with anyone else.

Wu Nuo, this contemporary strongest, joining the Sixth Division, even willing to mobilize part of that long-inherited sect's resources to maintain order in Wind Capital, was purely out of interest from the very beginning.
