Chapter 814 - 380: Gathering of Dark Forces! The Gatekeeper Strikes!
Happy Town, a gathering place of all kinds of shadows.
The base stats of the foreign Spiritualists and Transcenders weren’t high, but their mechanisms and Powers were so insidiously twisted that, to the native residents of Happy Town, they were practically demonic. One or two of them alone wouldn’t be a big deal and could hardly cause any large-scale Destruction.
The problem was... the number of outsiders gathered at this moment had already surpassed forty, even more than when they were planning tactics over at the warehouse.
Because these outsiders weren’t idiots. After order was shattered, seizing the chance to loot was a pretty good choice.
Why wouldn’t they take part?
A silver short-haired girl stood atop a high-rise, looking down on the chaos below from above, the corner of her lips curling into a dangerous arc.
Her Ability was projection. She could use her Ability to create all kinds of entities for battle, playing a crucial role in actual combat. From the moment Ye Mingqiu began slaughtering the Stewards, she had already used her Ability to paralyze a wide swath of technological constructs in the area.
And the other powerhouses had also launched attacks at the first possible moment. By the time Happy Town’s Executors and Stewards arrived, a large number of residents had already been slaughtered, and the overall social order had completely collapsed.
The atmosphere of happiness shattered with a roar.
To lose happiness—for Happy Town, this was a blow even more terrifying than annihilation.
"Projection."
She softly whispered again, the wide dark-purple cloak billowing violently in the wind as two technological mega-cannons took shape in an instant. Dangerous lasers condensed, their targets locked straight onto the battlefield on the ground.
.....
On the ground
In the northern part of the town, an old man in the warehouse was fiercely battling several outsiders and local residents. At this moment, his coat had already been torn apart by muscle, his scar-covered body completely exposed, looking incomparably ferocious and terrifying.
"Why is this old bastard so damn tough!"
A Steward couldn’t help cursing.
From the very start of the fight, that muscle old man had been injured by them, and he had been left with plenty of scars—knife wounds, electric shocks, gunshot wounds... all sorts of injuries piled up, enough to be fatal a hundred times over.
But in reality, that muscle old man not only wasn’t dead, he was still bouncing around full of life. Even with blood all over him, his combat strength hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
Not only had it not decreased, it had even gone up a lot!
"We already used the Boundary-Breaking Spear. This guy’s Ability isn’t a Domain, it’s his body itself. Use the Ability Suppression spray to suppress him!" the Executor standing in front of everyone shouted.
That Executor’s eyes were ice-cold. When he looked at the Stewards behind him, it was as if he were staring at a bunch of stupid pigs. Though Stewards were stronger in Level and strength than regular residents, they were selected specifically to deal with residents.
When facing truly powerful enemies, these guys were completely useless. Whether in combat experience or base strength, they weren’t enough.
’Suppression spray?’
The muscle old man and the other Spiritualists/Transcenders’ expressions grew slightly colder, seeming somewhat grim, but they didn’t panic because of it.
Obviously, they had long since guessed that the natives of this world possessed similar methods. After all, they had already used the Boundary-Breaking Spear before—something designed specifically to deal with Domains. Since there was a tool tailored to counter Domains, it was only natural there would be something specialized in countering Abilities.
Moreover, just as the others were taking out their equipment, a crisp alert sounded from the Communication Devices on them.
"Alert! Ye Zhaoxia has killed an Executor, danger Level elevated! Prepare for anti-air combat!"
"Alert! Ye Zhaoxia has killed an Executor, danger Level elevated! Prepare for anti-air combat!"
"Alert! Ye Zhaoxia has killed an Executor, danger Level elevated! Prepare for anti-air combat!"
Perhaps because the situation was urgent, the same alert blared three times in a row. Many of the Stewards present turned pale. They were familiar with Ye Zhaoxia—that was the one who’d been wanted and hunted after killing a Steward previously.
Before this, they had thought the other side only made a move to attract attention and disperse their forces, luring the Executors away from the battlefield.
But they were wrong.
And they were very, very wrong.
Ye Zhaoxia’s strength was extremely high, enough on his own to kill an Executor. Sending only one Executor and a team of Stewards to carry out Suppression was completely insufficient to crush him; instead, they had lost one of their own Executors.
"Bastard!"
The Executor on the battlefield cursed under his breath, his mood growing even more tense. The sense of crisis and urgency brought by death rippled through his heart.
You had to know, this wasn’t the only battlefield in Happy Town right now. The muscle old man was just the toughest opponent here. In the south, there was also a Sword Master—no flashy Abilities at all, just simple speed, strength, and Slashing, but the threat he posed was immense.
In the southwestern commercial district, there was someone proficient in Spatial Ability. His teleportation speed was extremely fast and seemed to have almost no cooldown. Although his own strength wasn’t high, the havoc he caused was enormous.
That guy might not be able to beat an Executor, but he could kill until only Executors were left.
And these people were only the primary threats inside Happy Town. The secondary threats were absurdly numerous. They couldn’t even be sure whether those others truly posed no threat, or had merely not acted yet.
....
In front of the Demon Hunter stronghold, Nightingale looked at the two people walking toward the base and, having her Defense completely Broken, cursed furiously, "What the hell are you two doing! What exactly did you promise me before? What did you say to me? Why did you make a move already?"
"...."
Ye Mingqiu and Carl—one looked up at the Heaven, the other down at the ground—their eyes dodging, clearly a bit embarrassed.
