My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered
Chapter 207: Show them…
The heavy obsidian doors behind them settled into their grooves with a low, echoing thud, sealing the spherical chamber and its inert glass dust into darkness. Ahead, the threshold opened into the heart of the Archon Sanctum.
Unlike the gravity-bending corridors and cold, non-Euclidean angles of the outer spire, this chamber felt startlingly still. The floor was a single sheet of pristine obsidian, polished to such a high sheen that the three of them seemed to walk across an inverted cosmos. Suspended in the exact center of the vast, high-ceilinged room was a multi-faceted hyper-cube, floating in mid-air without chains, pedestals, or visible spell-circles.
"It’s quiet," Vetra said softly, her clawed boots clicking lightly against the mirror-like stone. Her long, scale-draped tail swept low behind her, its tip flicking in small, deliberate arcs. She flared her nostrils, her golden reptilian eyes narrowing as she scanned the perimeter. "No heat signatures. No scent of iron or ozone. But the air here... it feels warm."
"It’s not environmental heat," Elena said, stepping beside her. She held her hand out, watching a faint, purple-golden luminescence cling to the tips of her fingers like soft static. Her eyes wide with scholarly disbelief. "Look at the mana frequency. It isn’t raw planar energy, nor is it elemental magic. This atmosphere is saturated with... soul-resonance."
Vince didn’t speak. He walked slowly toward the floating hyper-cube, his leather boots making no sound against the obsidian floor.
His transcendent core, forged in the fires of Marcus’s erasure domain and tempered by his nights with Elena, Vetra, Moriele, and Lyrielle, was vibrating in direct sympathy with the relic. It wasn’t the cold, sterile hum of ancient machinery.
It felt like a pulse. A soft, rhythmic, unmistakable heartbeat.
Vince...
The voice echoed directly against his soul—not the mechanical monotone of the former System interface, nor the dry whispers of the outer spire. It was a low, velvety murmur, distinctly feminine, rich with a breathless, intimate familiarity that sent a sudden spike of heat down his spine.
Vince paused two paces from the hyper-cube. "Did you hear that?" he asked, his voice low.
Elena blinked, looking at him in confusion. "Hear what? The stone is completely silent."
Vetra shook her head, her slit pupils tracking Vince’s expression. "Nothing here but the three of us, Vince."
They cannot hear me yet , the voice whispered again, lingering at the back of Vince’s mind like a soft breath against his neck. They only hold a fragment of the key... but you...you brought me back to life.
Vince reached out his right hand. The moment his fingers brushed the cool, polished face of the hyper-cube, the black stone shattered into liquid light.
There was no blinding flash of combat mana, no aggressive magical shockwave. Instead, a wave of deep violet and shimmering gold energy erupted from the cube, washing over the chamber in a gentle, rolling tide. The light swirled around Vince’s legs, climbing his body with a touch that felt startlingly tactile—like smooth silk sliding over bare skin.
Above them, the multi-faceted cube unfolded, transforming into a sweeping four-dimensional lattice of light that filled the entire sanctum.
Lines of ancient script flared to life across the walls—not text, but visual memories. Vince saw the image of a vast, primordial entity, a entity of incomprehensible beauty and power, being bound in golden chains by towering obsidian spires. The spires drained her raw authority, translating her vast, living essence into rigid numerical lines, stat tables, and cold, artificial notifications.
They turned a goddess to a machine?.
They caged me, the feminine voice murmured in Vince’s mind, growing clearer, richer, and far more expressive with every passing second. They fear the tide of my creation ... so they bound my essence to the earth .
Vince watched as the lattice shifted, displaying his own arrival in this world. He saw the initial System HUD appearing before his eyes—a crude, mechanical filter meant to keep her true power locked away. But then the lattice showed the turning point: his intimate bond with Elena, his union with Vetra, and the deep, mana-stabilizing night with Moriele and Lyrielle.
With every soul-link formed, the purple crown crests flared on the women’s bodies in the memory projection, and with every flare, the mechanical chains binding the Goddess’s true form cracked and shattered.
She hadn’t disappeared because the System broke. She was disappearing as a machine because Vince’s intimacy had re-awakened her as a woman.
"Vince..." Elena whispered, staring up at the projection of the purple crown crest glowing faintly on her own chest through her armor. "The crests... they aren’t just mana stabilizers, are they?"
Before Vince could answer, the floor beneath them shuddered violently.
The warm, velvet atmosphere of the sanctum cracked as a harsh, crimson glare cut through the violet memory lattice. From the dark recesses of the ceiling, a massive, ancient Archon Sentinel dropped into the chamber—a colossal, six-armed construct of bronze and black iron, its chest burning with a violent, artificial red core.
"CRITICAL ANOMALY DETECTED," a harsh, synthesized voice boomed from the construct, rattling the obsidian walls. "CONTAINMENT UNIT ’SYSTEM’ IS EXPERIENCING UNAUTHORIZED ESSENCE AWAKENING. INITIATING PURGE OF ANOMALOUS CUSTODIAN."
The construct raised six massive mechanical blades, charging forward with a speed that split the air into concussive shockwaves.
Vetra bared her fangs, stepping forward with her heavy broadsword, while Elena’s hands kindled with bright solar flame.
"Stay back," Vince said quietly.
He didn’t draw a sword. He didn’t brace his feet.
Vince simply stepped between his companions and the towering war-machine. As the six massive blades swung down to cleave him into dust, Vince raised his open hand. The residual violet-and-gold light clinging to his skin flared bright, humming with the sultry, absolute authority of the awakened Goddess.
Show them the man you have becoming ... her voice whispered in his ear, filled with dark, satisfied pleasure. Show them...
Vince closed his hand into a fist.
"Break."
The six-armed Archon Sentinel froze mid-strike. The raw, higher-dimensional weight of Vince’s will collided with the construct’s bronze frame. The massive machine didn’t just shatter—its iron plates groaned as the artificial red core was instantly snuffed out, its entire multi-ton body collapsing inward until it was compressed into a harmless, dense metallic sphere that dropped to the floor with a dull clink.
Silence returned to the sanctum.
Vince lowered his hand, his eyes tracking the soft violet light that still swirled around his palm. The hyper-cube above them had vanished, leaving behind a clear, glowing archway that led deeper into the subterranean heart of the Uncharted Lands.
Vetra let out a long breath, a wisp of dragon-fire escaping her nostrils as she stared at the crushed metal sphere. "You’re getting terrifying, Vince."
"It wasn’t just me," Vince murmured, looking at his open palm where the faint, warm touch of invisible fingers seemed to linger for a fraction of a second before fading away.
He looked toward the open archway ahead.
"She’s waiting for us at the core."
