My Taming System Makes Me Overpowered
Chapter 293: The Sovereigns Hearth
The deep indigo of twilight in the Garden Realm seamlessly gave way to a tranquil, star-dappled night. Across the sprawling expanse of the citadel, gentle magical lanterns flickered to life one by one, casting an amber glow over the white-jade pathways, serene waterways, and lush fruit groves. The air carried the layered scents of elder-wood smoke, warm caramelizing fruit, and the faint residual sweetness of lotus and star-lilies that never fully left the realm.
Following the passionate hours spent in the lower terrace suites, Vince led a completely relaxed Vetra and Elena back toward the central hearth pavilion—a massive, circular open-air courtyard surrounding a deep hearth fire fed by aromatic elder-wood and glowing spirit-crystals. The crackling flames danced in mesmerizing hues of violet and gold, throwing warm, soft light across the plush leather divans and low mahogany tables arranged around the fire pit. Heat radiated outward in gentle waves, chasing the night chill from skin and stone alike.
Solaria and Lyrielle had already arrived, fully rested from their time in the Starlight Observatory. Solaria wore a loose, flowing dress of sunrise-orange silk that clung softly to the still-sensitive curves of her body; her golden hair cascaded over her shoulders in gentle waves, catching the firelight. Lyrielle sat beside her in a soft ivory robe, the fabric slipping just enough to reveal the elegant line of her collarbone. Her slender fingers idly picked a soothing melody on a smaller, hand-carved lute, the notes drifting like liquid silver through the warm air.
At the edge of the hearth, Barnaby was seated cross-legged on a large fur cushion, busy roasting giant, candied star-berries on long silver skewers over the crackling flames. Her fully bloomed Lotus Core hummed with a cheerful, golden aura that filled the night air with the scent of fresh lotus petals and sweet caramel. The light from her core mixed with the firelight, painting everything in soft gold and violet.
"Vince!" Barnaby chirped the moment her bright eyes caught sight of his approaching figure. She practically bounded off her cushion, running over with her skewer held high, the candied berries still glistening and warm. "Look! I made sure not to burn any of them this time!"
Vince let out a dark, low laugh, stepping onto the warm flagstones of the hearth terrace. He wore a heavy, open-collared robe of charcoal silk that hung loosely across his broad shoulders and muscular chest, the purple-black pulse of his origin matrix glowing comfortably through the fabric. The heat of the fire met the residual heat still clinging to his skin from the lower suites.
He reached down with his broad hand, lightly ruffling Barnaby’s soft silver hair before taking one of the warm, candied fruits from the skewer. The caramel coating cracked faintly between his teeth, sweet and rich. "A significant improvement, little lotus."
Barnaby beamed with pure joy, throwing her arms around his waist for a quick, tight hug before skipping back to her cushion beside the fire, already preparing another skewer.
Vetra lazily strolled over to a long leather divan and unceremoniously collapsed onto the soft furs with a deep, contented sigh. Her dragon-kin tail flicked lazily against the rug. The silk wrap she still wore was loose and slightly disheveled from the afternoon, revealing the golden scales along her ribs and the soft underside of one breast. Her crimson-gold eyes held a lingering, sleepy warmth—the deep, sated calm of a predator who had been thoroughly claimed and had no desire to hunt again for a long while.
"I swear, if life gets any more peaceful than this, my dragon instincts are going to completely rust over," she murmured, voice husky with residual satisfaction. "And I don’t care one bit."
Elena took a seat beside Solaria, accepting a crystal cup of spiced tea from Lyrielle with a serene, grateful smile. The former chief administrator looked entirely unburdened. Her silver hair was styled in a loose braid that rested over one shoulder; her golden eyes shone with quiet, radiant peace. The slate-gray dress she still wore carried the faint, intimate scent of the lower suites, and every so often she shifted slightly, as if still feeling the phantom weight of Vince’s hands on her body.
"Rest is not a weakness, Vetra," Solaria said softly, her amber eyes turning toward Vince as he took his seat at the head of the hearth on a wide, velvet-draped throne-couch. The firelight painted her sunrise-orange silk in liquid gold. "It is the fruit of Vince’s victory. Every moment of comfort we enjoy here is proof that his reign is absolute."
Vince reclined against the dark velvet cushions, resting one arm along the back of the couch while his dark amethyst eyes swept over the five women gathered around the warm hearth fire. The origin matrix in his chest pulsed in slow, contented waves, answering the quiet devotion that radiated from each of them.
Lyrielle set her lute aside and glided over to Vince’s side, kneeling gracefully on the plush rug beside his knee and resting her head against his leg. The soft weight of her and the cool silk of her robe against his thigh felt like a claim of her own. Solaria soon shifted over as well, sitting on his left and resting her face against his broad shoulder, her hand gently tracing the dark fabric over his chest until her fingers found the faint glow of the matrix beneath.
Vetra swung her legs over the armrest of her divan to stretch her feet toward the fire, the heat seeping into the soles of her bare feet and up her calves. Elena quietly made notes in a small leather journal—not of tactical fleet deployments, but of ideas for the upcoming seasonal festival she wanted to host for the harem within the Garden Realm. The soft scratch of her pen was the only sound besides the crackle of the fire and the distant night insects of the Garden Realm.
"Vince," Lyrielle murmured softly, her violet eyes gazing up into the starry sky above the courtyard. "The multiverses beyond our borders are quiet tonight. No rebellions, no spatial tears, no ancient entities awakening. For the first time since the dawn of creation, existence is truly at rest."
"Because existence belongs to me," Vince replied smoothly, his deep velvet baritone vibrating through the peaceful courtyard, sending a delicious, familiar shiver down the spines of his consorts. "And my realm reflects my will."
"And what is your will for tomorrow, Vince?" Vetra asked, a lazy, sharp-fanged smirk tugging at her lips as she tossed another candied berry into her mouth. The caramel cracked between her teeth.
Vince pulled Solaria tighter against his side, his hand moving down to rest possessively on her hip, thumb stroking the soft silk and the warmer skin beneath. His other hand reached down to gently brush a strand of silver hair from Lyrielle’s cheek. His dark amethyst eyes flared with an intoxicating mix of absolute authority and deep, enduring affection.
"My will," Vince spoke, his voice low, commanding, and smooth as silk, "is to repeat this day for the rest of eternity."
A collective wave of warm, soft laughter and breathless sighs echoed through the open courtyard. Solaria pressed a reverent, lingering kiss to his cheek, the heat of her lips lingering. Elena closed her journal with a beautiful, soft smile and set it aside. Barnaby happily offered around another skewer of hot star-berries, the caramel still dripping faintly.
Under the endless, tranquil twilight of the Garden Realm, surrounded by the absolute love and unbroken devotion of his queens, Vince leaned back into his throne, at total peace within the infinite sanctuary he had built for them all. The fire crackled, the stars wheeled slowly overhead, and the night held nothing but the quiet certainty of forever.
