A bullet flew through the air and struck Brandon’s leg, leaving him unable to move for several seconds before he collapsed to the floor.

Hana and Jexy immediately rushed to snatch Zahn away from him, paying no attention to the danger that still threatened them. Not long afterward, Brandon’s secretaries and subordinates, who had been guarding the outside, tried to enter, but their steps came to a halt when they saw the military troops surrounding the residence.

One of the soldiers raised his gun toward the people who were still attacking Hans. They immediately stopped their assault and looked at the man.

As soon as they realized who had just shot Brandon and was leading the troops, everyone immediately knelt and raised their hands.

The man looked at them scornfully before turning to Hans.

"Sir asked the Second Unit to help you," he said.

Hans roughly wiped the blood from his lips, then patted his shirt to remove the dirt clinging to it. He immediately approached Zahn, who was still in Hana’s arms.

"Are you all right?" he asked, checking the little boy’s body. "Did he hurt you? Does anything hurt?"

Zahn shook his head, then looked up at Hans and Jexy before curling up in Hana’s arms again.

"It’s all right. You’re safe with Mother," Hana whispered as she patted his back. After Zahn had calmed down a little, she nodded at Hans and Jexy, who still looked worried.

Hana then waved at Sean and Kevin, asking them to come closer. The two boys immediately approached them and joined in hugging Zahn.

Hans let out a sigh of relief before turning to look at Brandon, who was still sitting weakly on the floor. He walked over and kicked the man in the stomach.

"Thud!"

"You wanted to kill my son? How dare you!" Hans shouted.

Brandon looked up and smiled mockingly.

"Hans Xin, do you think you can get what belongs to me?" he sneered without the slightest hint of fear.

Hans glared at him and raised his leg to kick him again. However, the man leading the troops immediately stopped him.

"You can’t hurt him. He’s the successor of the eastern territory of the Melvin Continent, and the Head of the Supervisory Council has ordered me to protect him, including from your attacks."

Hans turned toward him in disbelief. He pointed at Brandon.

"Your master wants to protect him? What about the Vein family?"

"Mr. Hans," the uniformed man interrupted, "every territory on the Melvin Continent must have its own leader. Sir cannot allow you to kill him. We will take him to the Supervisory Council’s office."

He paused for a moment before continuing, "You must come with us as well."

"You still want me to come with you?" Hans asked.

"Sir will explain everything. You don’t need to worry about unnecessary things. He won’t let you suffer any losses, either. However, since the Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council is involved in this matter, Sir wants you to testify at tomorrow morning’s meeting."

Hans looked at him for a few moments, then waved his hand.

"Wait for me outside. There’s something I need to take care of first."

The man nodded and allowed his subordinates to take Brandon and the Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council’s men out of the residence.

Once things had calmed down, Hans turned around and found Hana looking at him.

"Hana, I’m going to visit Dion Sexa and Orland Hesh." He glanced at Hana’s three children. "Take good care of your mother. It seems we won’t be able to return anytime soon."

Sean, Kevin, and Zahn released their embrace, then looked up at Hans.

"Does all of this have something to do with me?"

Hans looked at her for a moment. Seeing the confusion on the woman’s face, he shook his head and guided her to sit on the sofa.

"Don’t worry. As for yesterday’s murder, you’re not responsible. Dion Sexa was the one who killed that man."

"Dion Sexa? Sean’s father?" Hana raised her hand, then immediately shook her head. "No. He wasn’t the one who killed him."

She bit her lip tightly before continuing, "I was the one who did it. You can take me there. I’ll take responsibility for my own actions."

"Mother!" her three children shouted at the same time.

Hana looked at them with tear-filled eyes.

"You are their fathers. You should be able to take much better care of them than I can. Let me take responsibility for what I did. Can you take me to face the Supervisory Council? I’ll confess everything before them."

Hans smiled and shook his head. His blue eyes gazed at Hana with unwavering conviction.

"Stay here and do as I say. You didn’t kill that man. Dion Sexa did."

He raised his hand to stop Hana from arguing.

"You really didn’t do it, so don’t think about it anymore. Besides, he was only the Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council’s illegitimate son. Dion Sexa won’t receive a severe punishment over something like this."

Sean nodded.

"Mother, you don’t need to worry. Father Hans is right. With Father Dion’s position and power, he won’t be harmed. He might only need to spend a little money to buy the Deputy Head of the Supervisory Council’s silence."

Kevin chimed in, "Mother, you don’t need to do anything. This isn’t your responsibility. They were the ones who forced you to do it. You were only defending yourself. How can you consider yourself guilty?"

Zahn nodded, then threw himself into Hana and Hans’s arms.

"Mother is a good person. How could Mother even think about killing someone? If Mother did it, that would only mean one thing. That person deserved it."

Hans chuckled softly. He reached out and stroked Hana’s black hair, a habit he had often indulged in in the past.

"Stay here and don’t worry about anything. Dion’s people will keep you safe."

After comforting Hana, Hans finally turned around and left the residence to meet the people representing the rulers of the Melvin Continent’s territories.

Jexy held Hana by the shoulders when she saw the woman about to follow him.

"Don’t go. They have their own way of dealing with these powerful figures, unlike you. Listen to them and stay here quietly."

That night, Hana sat on the edge of the bed, wringing her fingers. Her three sons were already fast asleep on the same bed as her.

She took a deep breath, trying to convince herself.

They will surely grow up much better with their fathers than they would with me. That’s right. It must be so.

Her gaze fell on Sean, who was sleeping at the end of the bed. Hana reached out and gently stroked his forehead.

Your father can surely raise you better. Mother won’t run away. Mother already killed that man. How can your father be the one held responsible?

Hana shifted her gaze to Kevin and Zahn.

"Kevin, Zahn, you must listen to your older brother, okay?" she whispered.

She fell silent for a moment before continuing in a soft voice, "Although I don’t know what crimes your fathers committed that led to their punishment, I’m sure they’ll be back soon. They will surely take good care of you."

After saying a few more words, Hana hurriedly changed her clothes and left the room.

She walked calmly toward the room she had passed earlier that afternoon. However, before she could reach it, someone suddenly grabbed her hand.

"Mrs. Hana," a woman greeted her as the door behind them closed.

Hana pressed herself against the wall and looked at the woman warily.

"What are you going to do? Do I know you?"

The woman smiled faintly.

"You want to leave this residence to look for Sean’s father, don’t you? I can help you get out."

Before Hana could answer, the woman raised her identification card.

"I’m one of Mr. Brandon Vein’s subordinates. If you want, I can take you out of here."

Hana frowned.

"Did your master order you to take me back to him?"

The woman shook her head.

"You’re mistaken, Madam. Sir knows that what he did was wrong. This time, he wants to show you the faces of the three men who fathered your children. Besides, you must want to know what really happened seven years ago, don’t you?"

Seeing that Hana was still hesitant, the woman took out a necklace with a pendant and handed it to her.

"Sir said you would believe me if I gave this to you."

Hana looked at the pendant in her hand. She swallowed before looking up at the woman again.

"Take me with you."
