She stepped back reluctantly, watching him with soft eyes.

Dark Nova returned to the Enforcement Headquarters not long afterward.
The moment he stepped through the entrance, the enforcers on night duty hurried over to take custody of the battered businessman he had brought back.

Dark Nova didn’t spare him another glance as he walked directly through the headquarters until he arrived before the office of the Chief Enforcer and pushed the door open without knocking.
Roland looked up from behind his desk before beginning to rise with a faint smile. "I take it you’ve brought in another one—"
"You’ve been accepting bribes." The hero cut him off.
The Chief Enforcer froze. "I beg your pardon?"
Dark Nova had a blank look on his face. "A testimony point toward your involvement in accepting payments to overlook the distribution of Beelstones throughout this city."
Roland frowned. "I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about."
Dark Nova stared at him for a moment before speaking again. "I’m not here to waste words with you. For now... I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt."
He turned toward the door. "My investigations into the people connected to this operation are still ongoing."
"And within the next twenty-four hours, I’m confident I’ll know whether you’re truly involved... or not."
"But, you’ve begun making me question every investigation you’ve ever led. If you were willing to accept bribes to conceal dealings involving demons...then how much else have you buried over the years?"
Roland felt a chill creep down his spine.
Dark Nova’s voice remained calm. "If I confirm you’re one of them, I will personally see to the end of your title."
"And I’ll make certain you spend the rest of your life rotting in the very same cells as the criminals you’ve been protecting."
With that, he walked out of the office.
Roland remained standing where he was. There was shock on his face, but more than that.. there was fear.
