My Undead Legion Kills God's
Chapter 159: Growing Strong.
"Do you truly believe that?". Camila asked, actually hoping Daisy could tell her what she wanted to hear.
Daisy noticed the hope in Camila’s voice and couldn’t bring herself to crush it. Her soft heart won, and she said with a forced smile. "Of course, you saw how he was tossing the Chief around like a rag doll, I’m sure Malik will find his way back...".
She exhaled lightly with her hand on her waist. "Until then, go get some rest, there’s no telling when shit will suddenly get crazy around here, especially with the Round Table members poking around, sometimes I just wish they would leave things alone, I hate having to fight all the time".
Camila blinked.
"You do realise we’re stuck in a mystical realm’s trial of death, whereby the only way out is to fight and beat the quest".
Daisy shrugged with a mischievous smirk. "So we beat the quest, how hard can it be".
Camila stared at her for a second, clearly unconvinced by the confidence behind those words. Daisy had a habit of saying things as though they were much simpler than they actually were, and this was hardly the kind of place where such confidence was reassuring.
The ground suddenly shook intensely as bits and pieces of the wall fell, Daisy immediately rose a few meters into the air, and Camila used her ability to lift her armor which in turn lifted her body into the air.
The sudden movement caught them both off guard. Loose pieces of stone broke away from the ancient wall and crashed onto the ground below them, while the vibration continued through the structure.
"What’s going on?". Camila said with a hint of frost in her eyes.
Daisy was terrified out of her mind. "I shouldn’t have made your trial seem so easy, please forgive us Tower god and don’t bring down your punishment on our weak flesh, mine especially".
Camila glanced at Daisy with an incredulous expression. She couldn’t believe Daisy had already jumped to the conclusion that their words had somehow offended whatever being controlled this trial.
Daisy, however, remained completely serious about her prayer, keeping herself safely above the ground while watching the surrounding ruins with obvious fear.
But then the shaking ground suddenly seized.
The ruins became still again, leaving behind only the debris that had already fallen from the wall. Camila looked around, waiting for another tremor, but nothing happened.
She was genuinely impressed.
"I guess your prayer was answered".
...
Damien and the others returned, but Damien didn’t wait around to be asked more questions that he didn’t really have the answers to, he went off on his own.
On his way out of the gates, he spotted Camila and Daisy hovering about, he clicked his tongue.
"Showing off your flight abilities, some people truly have it easy". He waved to them as his undead Therizon raced into the frozen wastelands.
Damien was going to the Eidolon battlefield, he’d always wanted to, but he had so many responsibilities after becoming a Round Table member that he never got the opportunity.
Now he was determined to get stronger, especially after learning that they might end up facing mad gods and madder gods.
The thought alone made him more serious. There was still too much he didn’t understand about the Ruins of Humanity, and the mural had only given him more questions than answers. If they really were going to encounter beings capable of destroying an entire civilization, then staying at his current level wasn’t going to be enough.
Now he understood why Vincent secluded himself so quickly, he must have felt something deep within Ruins of Humanity, something powerful.
Damien didn’t know exactly what Vincent had sensed, but he wasn’t going to waste time trying to figure it out while sitting around doing nothing. If there was one thing Damien had learned, it was that strength solved a lot of problems, and he had plenty of reasons to become stronger.
The cold wind blew past, with the speed of the Therizon and its ability to literally swim through space, he arrived in less than half a day.
The corpses were stone cold, but still well preserved, just like how Damien likes them.
He jumped off the Therizon and summoned all his undead, Damien clapped to draw their attention even though their cold lifeless eyes were already staring dead straight at him.
"Now then team, we’re going to divide and conquer. Undead Eidolon corpse, you’re on heavy lifting duty, undead frost-bat corpse you’re on tracking and escorting duty".
Damien looked back at the undead Therizon and declared. "Don’t worry undead Therizon, your role is the most important... you’re my cushion, if you think about it, you do have the feathers for the job".
The undead Therizon did not understand a word, but its connection to Damien made it walk over and lower itself to become his chair.
Damien exhaled deeply. "Now then, get to work".
All the undead began moving through the battlefield, with the undead frost-bat’s aerial advantage they quickly found the corpses and called for the undead Eidolons, with their superior strength they lifted the bodies and brought them over to Damien.
Damien was relaxed with his back resting on the neck of the undead Therizon while his leg was over the other, he simply removed his boot and allowed the Eidolons to bring the corpses to his feet, then he said lazily.
"Rise".
And they did. Soon, many more Eidolons were bringing him bodies.
The battlefield gradually became busier as Damien’s undead moved back and forth, each one carrying out the simple task he had given them. Damien barely needed to move, leaving the actual work to the creatures he had already raised.
He watched them for a while, clearly satisfied with how efficiently everything was progressing. There was something almost ridiculous about how easily his undead could turn a battlefield into a source of reinforcements, but Damien wasn’t complaining.
He saw no problem with this life, the life of an undead king was quite befitting of him, but Damien’s joy was cut short when the undead lich appeared overhead, blocking his sunlight and waving at him.
Damien scowled.
"What do you want now?".
