My Useless Mute Beta Wife Is A Big Shot!

Chapter 166: I Really Hope Our Honeybun Turns Out Like You...

I lie still, my body heavy and warm, my head rising and falling with the slow, unhurried rhythm of his breathing. The anger that had once burned so brightly in my chest is gone now—not extinguished, but quieted, buried beneath something softer that I don’t want to name.

His heartbeat thumps beneath my ear, steady and deep, a sound that seems to belong to the silence of the room itself.

Thump...

Thump...

I should move. I should push him away, tell him to leave, draw a line between us.

But the weight of exhaustion presses down on me like a blanket woven from the night itself, and his arms feel too comfortable, too familiar, too much like home.

His hand rests on my waist, holding me gently. The other moves in slow, lazy circles against the back of my head, his fingers threading through my hair with endless patience.

I don’t know how long we’ve been like this—two hours, maybe more. The silence between us stretches into something soft and unbroken, like a thread that has always been there, waiting to be pulled.

His pheromones surround us like a warm cocoon, wrapping around our bodies. Even the room seems to breathe with us.

His voice comes, barely louder than a whisper.

"Ellis..."

I don’t answer at first. My lips part, but the words refuse to come. I simply wait, letting his voice settle into the quiet air between us.

"Hmm..." I murmur finally, the sound barely escaping my throat.

"How are you feeling now?"

I stay still, my eyes closed, his question hanging in the air.

But instead of answering, I ask the question that’s been forming in my mind since dinner.

"Why did you tell my parents you’re pregnant?"

His hand keeps moving through my hair, slow and deliberate, the rhythm of his fingers like a quiet reassurance.

"I didn’t lie." A pause. "We are going to be parents, aren’t we?"

My grip tightens on his shirt, the fabric bunching beneath my fingers. Finally, I open my eyes and push my face up from his chest enough to look at him, my eyes searching his.

"Really? No lie at all?"

His gaze flickers away for just a moment—a flash of something unreadable crossing his face before he meets my eyes again, his expression soft, almost innocent.

"Just a small one." A pause. "I swapped our names."

I press a hand against his chest and push myself up slightly, but he barely moves beneath me.

"Why the hell would you need to tell them anything?"

His hand rises to my cheek, his thumb tracing slow, careful circles against my skin. The touch is gentle, almost reverent, and it makes my anger waver despite itself.

"They’re going to be grandparents. They deserve to know, don’t they?" His voice drops lower, softer, like a secret shared in the dark. "And I know my Alpha doesn’t like it when people find out about his pregnancy."

He pauses, his thumb brushing my cheek once more.

"So I made a small adjustment. I gave them my name instead."

I slap his hand away, but there is no real force behind it—just a reflex, a ghost of the anger I’m still trying to hold onto. The sound is sharp in the quiet of the room.

"You liar." The words come out flat, tired. "Shameless."

A dramatic "Ow..." escapes him, and he presses his lips into a theatrical pout, his eyes widening with mock innocence.

"Honey... you shouldn’t treat your pregnant wife like this."

My brows twist in disbelief. I slap his chest again, though this time there’s barely any force behind it.

"Pregnant wife?" My voice rises, sharp but not truly angry. "You idiot. You pervert."

I try to push away from him, to create space, to break the hold he has on me. But his hands catch my waist, holding me in place with firmness, his fingers pressing into the curve of my hips.

"Where are you going?"

"I’m sleeping on the bed. You can sleep on the couch."

He pulls me back down, and my face presses against his chest again. His voice turns warm and pleading, almost like a child asking for something he knows he shouldn’t.

"Honey..." He breathes the word against my hair. "Don’t be cruel. Please. Let me sleep with you tonight."

I push my face up again, glaring at him even as my body betrays me, relaxing against him despite everything.

"No." My voice is firm, but there is no real weight behind it. "I don’t want liars in my bed."

He holds my gaze, his eyes soft and earnest, the dim light catching the edges of his face and softening every sharp angle.

"Honey... I know you’re angry. I know you have every right to be." His voice drops to barely a whisper. "But I swear—I did this for you. For our Honeybun."

He pulls me closer again, his arms tightening around me as though he’s afraid I’ll slip away.

"For now, let us sleep like this. Tomorrow, you can be as angry as you want." His voice softens further. "I’ll take it. I’ll take anything from you."

I let out a long, slow breath, the last of my resistance melting into the warmth of him.

"Fine." My voice is quiet, reluctant. "I’ll beat you to death."

His hand begins to stroke my head again, his fingers weaving through my hair with tenderness. His eyes flutter closed, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"Okay." His voice is warm, almost drowsy. "Do whatever you want with me."

"I’m all yours."

My own eyes grow heavy, my body sinking deeper into his arms, into the steady rhythm of his heart beneath my ear.

A soft, teasing smile touches his lips, barely visible in the dim light.

"You were so cute in your childhood." A pause. "Especially that one photo—where you were crying so dramatically."

"Silas..."

"Okay, okay." He presses a kiss to the top of my head, his voice soft and warm. "No more talking. Just sleep."

A long moment of silence stretches between us, warm and full.

Then his voice comes again, barely a whisper against my hair.

"Honey..." A pause. "You’re still so cute. And beautiful."

"Shut up." My voice is muffled against his chest. "Or I’ll throw you off the bed."

He laughs softly, the vibration rolling through his chest and into my cheek.

"Okay. I won’t say anything else." A pause, then quieter still, almost to himself.

"But I really hope our Honeybun turns out like you."
