Chapter 31: Chase
"The barrier is down, quick, run!" A Core Formation Realm cultivator shouted and immediately used up a lot of qi to rush into the distance.
"Who said you could leave?" Feng Shuran snorted. She controlled the black needle, and it shot towards the cultivator with astonishing speed.
"Ha!" The cultivator’s eyes flashed. He turned around and took out a huge shell from his storage treasure, placing it in front of him to welcome the needle.
The shell looked like it belonged to a giant turtle; cracks ran across its surface, and the lines flashed with blue light.
Bang!
The needle crashed into the shield, and it managed to stop it for a moment as more cracks appeared on the shell.
The cultivator spat a mouthful of blood but didn’t dare withdraw. He gritted his teeth and pushed more qi into the shell, causing it to grow bigger and even push the needle back.
Feng Shuran looked at this without a change of expression; she calmly pressed her hand forward, pushing the needle with more force.
Crack!
Sounds of something breaking rang out as the cracks on the shell began spreading faster.
"Cough!" The man vomited more blood, his eyes displaying fear as the strength of the needle suddenly increased. His hands were trembling, and more cracks covered the shell.
"Stop, don’t kill me! I’ll give you anything, just spare me!" The man shouted desperately as more blood rushed down from the corners of his mouth.
Feng Shuran remained indifferent, her crimson eyes flashing with coldness.
"Then give me your life," She snorted before pressing down again.
Crack!! Bang!
The needle broke through the defence of the shell before piercing the chest of the man behind it.
Watching the corpse and the shell fall to the ground, Feng Shuran glanced around.
All the cultivators at the Foundation Establishment Realm had been killed by her clones, while fewer than ten of the Core Formation Realm cultivators were still alive.
They were currently running away from her clones. Under the effect of the suppression formation, the clones were on the same level as these people since they didn’t have an Immortal-grade magical treasure like the real Feng Shuran.
The cultivators refused to fight them even though they had a good chance of winning. They wouldn’t get anything from killing the clones, as that would just give the real Feng Shuran enough time to catch up with them.
It was best to run instead!
The cultivators fled in different directions, and the clones quickly went after five of them. Meanwhile, Feng Shuran looked to the side and saw an old man rushing away while standing on a huge hourglass.
She knew this person was the one who had destroyed the barrier and was the only one not being chased by one of her clones.
Just when she was about to go after him, she suddenly froze as she felt something happening to her. Feng Shuran moved her gaze away from the old man and stared at the formation plate instead, with a delighted glint in her eyes.
The magic circles around the formation plate were fading slowly. It had run out of energy and had stopped working, and with this, Feng Shuran’s strength naturally returned to the Nascent Soul Realm!
Boom!
A wave of qi rushed out from Feng Shuran’s body after the magic circles completely disappeared and her strength returned to its peak. The pressure of a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator descended on the surroundings and sent a gust of wind sweeping in all directions.
Shuran raised her left hand towards the formation plate that had shrunk back to its original size after running out of energy. A stream of qi flowed out from her hand and brought the formation plate to her, which she then stored away.
"Now then," Feng Shuran mumbled as she looked in the direction the old man had disappeared into before disappearing the next second.
Without the suppression, Feng Shuran’s speed naturally returned to its previous state, letting her cross several kilometres with a single step.
She wasn’t the only one. Since the main body wasn’t under suppression anymore, the strength of the clones naturally also returned to the Nascent Soul Realm as well.
The cultivators who were being chased by them could only scream in horror after witnessing this; their only hope of escaping just disappeared right before their eyes!
Meanwhile, Feng Shuran used Ten Thousand Miles Steps to quickly chase after the old man. Her figure appeared dozens of kilometres away from her previous location every second!
It took her less than ten seconds to catch up to the fleeing old man.
.....
Swoosh!!!!
Standing on his hourglass, the old man wasn’t stingy with his qi reserve at all. Burning a large amount every time to increase the speed of the hourglass.
Panic was written all over his face as large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
As he flew, a ceramic bottle appeared in his right hand. The old man bent the bottle, and a small pill with the aura of rich qi rolled out and landed on his left palm.
Without wasting time, he placed the pill inside his mouth. This pill was an expensive qi-replenishing pill that could restore a portion of a cultivator’s qi instantly.
After eating the pill, the old man slapped the side of the hourglass, and its speed increased again.
"Thankfully, I acted fast enough. I need to get out of Oghara right away before that demoness comes looking for me." The old man muttered to himself.
He knew that the suppression formation plate didn’t have much energy left, and the Invisible Killer would soon regain her strength. He didn’t have time to return to his sect to warn them; his priority right now was to leave this region and hide somewhere safe.
"Aren’t you in too much of a hurry to leave? You haven’t gotten justice for the Dae Qu sect!"
Just then, a cold, mocking voice filled with killing intent resounded through the air. Accompanying the voice was a terrifying pressure that crashed onto the old man from above.
The hourglass instantly stopped shooting forward and began crashing down instead.
The eyes of the old man widened in horror as he turned his head to look.
Standing in the air behind him was the Invisible Killer, and her strength had returned to the Nascent Soul Realm!
’How did she regain her cultivation so quickly?’ the old man lamented inwardly as he burnt an even greater amount of qi to stop himself from falling.
From this height, although the fall to the ground won’t kill him since he was a Core Formation Realm cultivator, it would definitely leave him with several broken bones.
After stabilising himself in the air, the old man used a lot of effort to bend his neck and stare at Feng Shuran, who was gazing down at him with cold eyes.
’Invisible killer,’ He whispered in his thoughts while gritting his teeth.
There was no need to say anything to this woman, as he already knew that she had no intention of sparing him. They had long passed the point of reaching an agreement, considering how the Invisible Killer had slaughtered everyone else.
"Why aren’t you running away anymore?" Feng Shuran’s voice rang through the air once more; she increased the pressure she was releasing while staring down at the old man.
"Uhk!" The old man made a choking sound after Feng Shuran increased the pressure that he was already finding difficult to withstand.
His legs trembled like branches under a storm, and he immediately dropped to one knee. His body bent forward, and he placed one hand on the surface of his hourglass for additional support.
"Invisible killer, you forced me to do this!" The old man screamed with difficulty while gasping for air. The pressure was suffocating, and he was having a hard time breathing.
More than that, there was great reluctance and regret in his voice as he proceeded to press harder on the surface of the hourglass.
Boom!
A clash of energy occurred, and the pressure around the old man was instantly pushed back.
Feng Shuran lifted an eyebrow in surprise. Her pressure no longer had any effect on the other party, a strange energy was swirling around him, and he was standing straight once again.
Her eyes immediately moved to the hourglass under the old man’s feet. This magical treasure must be responsible.
Meanwhile, after the old man stood up, he suddenly started laughing like a maniac. His laughter lasted for a while before his gaze landed on Feng Shuran.
"Invisible killer, you really forced me to use this. Don’t blame me for not leaving you with a way out, I can only console myself by taking your life!" The old man hissed with fury, his eyes had turned blood red just from his hatred for this woman.
The hourglass was a precious magical treasure he had obtained while he was still a young Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator.
He had wandered into the cave dwelling of a powerful senior who was about to die back then and the senior had given it to him.
