Many people thought Xue might have run off with the investment.

But now, Xue Dili has settled the remaining members of the Masked Ball, at least giving them something to do instead of idly seeking out Apostles for self-destruction.

After this interlude, Xue Dili continued to narrate how he connected with the Mimic Venerable King using Hassan’s resources, and how the Mimic Venerable King viewed him favorably, even actively merging his fragments with himself...

Then came the most important matter Xue Dili wanted to share.

"We, ah, succeeded in killing the Sixth Apostle—the Insect Emperor, who was utterly devoured by the Void." Xue Dili proudly announced this achievement, this old foe once hated to the bone, long since defeated by them.

Though 99.99999% of the offensive output came from the Mimic Venerable King, he at least contributed Void pollution, with a semblance of an assist attributed to him, making it barely count as a joint effort between him and the Mimic Venerable King in killing the creature.

On hearing this, the old man seemed slightly rattled, taking a while to speak, as if he had a lot to say but finally just remarked, "You’ve really grown up..."

Xue Dili didn’t respond to this, instead quipped, "Do you have any illegitimate children out there? During my adventures, I’ve met countless people claiming to be your descendants, using your surname to swindle others."

The old man’s freshly brewed emotions instantly evaporated, showing an extremely unpleasant expression.

"No."

"Oh."

Xue Dili continued searching, for this was the Seventh Expeditionary Force’s legacy, yet 4 billion years later, the starry space seemed completely encapsulated within a gap, with no clue how the old man found his way here then.

And the truth was not as Xue Dili imagined; the old man did not know the full story of the Venerable King, just discovered fragments of information from the Seventh Expeditionary Force remnants.

Even a small amount of information offered him tremendous benefits.

Regarding the previous imitation of the Venerable King’s path to god-slaying, perhaps it was just a blind chance event, with even the old man uncertain of his success, merely experimenting.

"Found it, hiding in such a concealed gap, no wonder the Mimic Venerable King mentioned finding the corresponding thing in Subspace is almost impossible, even with coordinates, we nearly missed it." Xue Dili chuckled.

Then, he directly split open a gap, revealing a planet sealed for 4 billion years.

"Let’s go."

Xue Dili and the Great Sage entered together, with Yi Shan following along.

Originally Yi Shan was quite laid-back, often saying "I’m sorry" upon arriving in Xue Dili’s space.

This former senior seemed to shoulder all responsibilities again, blaming himself for the Lord of Mist’s birth, the Apostle-induced Death, even for the souls devoured by the Divine Tree...

However, Xue Dili didn’t see it this way. Yi Shan and all the Expeditionary Forces did their best.

The Lords of Mist and Apostles were not their fault; they were mere reflections of that era’s tragedy.

If not Fuge, someone else might have had similar ideas. The Lord of Mist’s birth was almost inevitable; Dominic’s seeds would be exploited by others anyway, with countless tragedies in that era, leading masses to respond instantly when Fuge proposed this plan with funds and talents to create gods?

Due to loss so significant, they had to seek comfort in such endeavors to ease their minds.

Even they had the most rightful claim to say "It’s not me who’s wrong, it’s the world."

The Cosmic Void, an unforeseeable calamity, pure disaster, utterly hopeless existence.

One person, two ghosts, they arrived here.

Compared to when Yi Shan once arrived here, now it was an endless expanse of darkness, but the darkness posed little problem to them. Yet, when Xue Dili conjured a Holy Light Ball for illumination, it suddenly revealed...

This was not a place with merely the Seventh Expeditionary Force’s ruins, but a colossal... graveyard!

Simple tombstones and epitaphs filled every visible place, scorched earth and debris from explosions seeming unchanged even in 4 billion years.

Or perhaps it’s the Subspace characteristics keeping traces even in this era.

Seeing the scene, Yi Shan may have plunged back into the memories tied to objects, remaining somberly silent.

The old man pulled Xue Dili aside, asking, "Who is he..."

"Um, if I had to say, considered as Lord of Mist’s half-grandfather?" Xue Dili replied.

"Hiss~" It was the first time the old man lost composure.

"Also the last remaining member of the 13th Expeditionary Force..." Xue Dili added.

Actually, the latter information was even more sensational, yet the old man reacted less strongly this time.

"So, what do you want to do?" The Great Sage asked.

"To collect the corpses of those who died here." Xue Dili bluntly stated his intent.

This was his original thought, not allowing the Expeditionary Force members to remain hidden forever in this bleak Subspace.

Though sacrifices were made to save the world, they were heroes choosing to sacrifice themselves even if failures, succeeded solely by the 13th Expeditionary Force.

But these forerunners, akin to moths to a flame venturing into the Cosmic Void, at least paved a clearer path for a successor like him.

Yi Shan paused before a tombstone, eyes narrowing tightly.

Perhaps due to the lack of wind and natural activities within the Subspace cracks, despite their deterioration, the tombstones remained sufficiently legible.

Xue Dili looked upon the engraved metal plaque bearing Ancient Era words.

"In memory of Dark Elf Karl’s tomb..."

Simple words, yet at that moment, Yi Shan seemed utterly uncontrollable, this scarred man knelling in front of the grave, sobbing loudly.

Dark Elf Karl was the first member sacrificed from the 13th Expeditionary Force, in a final bid to save drones amid a nearing encounter with a spatial cut.

He still failed, losing both the drones and his life there.

His death alerted everyone to the dire danger here.

Whoever built this grave possibly came from later arriving Expeditionary Force members, discovering Karl’s body and final message nearby, thus simply erecting the tombstone here.

And there were countless such tombstones here.

"Old man, I want to build a ’Heroic Spirit Hall’." Xue Dili spoke up.

"Heroic Spirit Hall?"

"Yes, I think, not just now, but long ago, around when you died before me, the idea struck me..." Xue Dili smiled.

"I’m just that kind of person."

"Even those who passed on, I hope their stories remain with future generations, that even after long years someone remembers they once devoted themselves to the future, leaving themselves eternally here, preserving the final trace."

"The Heroic Spirit Hall, I imagine, retaining this final trace, like you, providing hope for the future..."

Xue Dili stepped forth.

At the next moment, instantaneously, Blood of Hell dripped on the ground, extending an endless floral sea.

The sea of flowers swiftly enveloped the dead, desolate planet, covered the graves and remains.

In Yi Shan’s gaze reflecting the sea of flowers, innumerable lights dispersed, and among them, a strand of light gently coalesced into a silhouette.

One silhouette of his former teammate, the Dark Elf Karl!
