My Wife Might Be a Saintess
Chapter 443 - 442: You Are the April of This World
Chapter 443: Chapter 442: You Are the April of This World
Jiang Zuo was stunned by Su Qi’s words.
He never expected Su Qi to pull a move like this.
’How am I supposed to answer that?’
’I should have just said I was out on the street.’
But Jiang Zuo didn’t dare hesitate. He said, "I’m in the bathroom. Do you want to wait for me to finish up first?"
Su Qi said, "Three minutes. If you don’t say those words in three minutes, it means you’re not home and you’re lying to me."
Jiang Zuo was speechless.
He glanced at Jian Shisan, then spoke into the phone, "So, I have three minutes to get to the bedroom, find the note in your nightstand, and read it to you, is that right?"
"Yes, and you can’t hang up. You have to stay on the line with me." Su Qi’s voice suddenly softened.
The moment Jian Shisan heard Jiang Zuo, he accelerated instantly, reaching an incredible speed.
He was practically covering a thousand miles in the blink of an eye.
Jiang Zuo felt like the phone signal could barely keep up.
’How fast does a signal travel, anyway?’
’Well, whatever. It’s not like I’d know.’
As long as the call didn’t drop, it was fine.
"What’s wrong?" Jiang Zuo asked.
Su Qi was clearly not herself. First, she made him look for a note, and now her voice was so soft, as if he had just wronged her somehow.
Then, Su Qi said, "My heart is racing, and I feel so flustered. All I can think about is you. I’m worried about you."
Jiang Zuo froze. ’So that’s how Su Qi is feeling.’
’Is it like what happened to me last time?’
’That feeling is absolutely awful.’
Jiang Zuo said, "Don’t worry. I’m here. I’ll always be here."
Su Qi said, "I never said you weren’t. Why would you think that?"
"Aha, so you are up to something sneaky, aren’t you? Hurry up and tell me what the note says."
Jiang Zuo was speechless.
Then Su Qi added, "And if you ever say anything about not being here again, I’ll be angry with you."
Jiang Zuo felt a little helpless. ’When did I say I wouldn’t be here?’
But he didn’t argue. Su Qi was emotionally unstable right now; she must have been genuinely frightened.
So he just went along with it. "Okay, I get it. But it hasn’t even been a minute yet. We agreed on three."
Su Qi asked, "Do you feel sick? Are you in pain anywhere? I just have this awful feeling."
Jiang Zuo chuckled. ’Pain?’
In truth, he was in agony. For a normal person—no, even for a Cultivator—an injury this severe would be unbearable.
Very few could speak as calmly as he was.
But Jiang Zuo felt no resentment. He didn’t think, ’Of all the times Su Qi could have called, why did it have to be now?’
He didn’t think, ’I’m in agony from these severe injuries, and you’re just being capricious and messing with me.’
All he felt was a quiet, tender affection.
In fact, he was glad Su Qi had called him at this very moment.
His injuries were nothing. Su Qi was what mattered most.
"It doesn’t hurt. Not at all," Jiang Zuo said. "Even if I were really injured, really in pain, as long as Su Qi is with me, nothing hurts."
Su Qi huffed, her voice softening. "Such a smooth talker. It’s been two minutes. Still not in the bedroom?"
By now, Jiang Zuo had arrived at his apartment complex. Jian Shisan didn’t put him down, but flew him directly to his front door.
Jiang Zuo then opened the door and went inside.
He froze the moment he stepped inside.
’Right, just a repeat performance. Nothing to see here. I’ll deal with them later.’
"Okay, I’m looking for it now."
As he spoke, Jiang Zuo walked into the bedroom and opened the drawer.
He found that there really was a piece of paper inside.
"Do I really have to read this?" Jiang Zuo couldn’t help but ask.
A hint of a smile crept into Su Qi’s voice. "Hurry up and read it."
Left with no choice, Jiang Zuo began to read: "My dearest wife, Su Qi, I love you, I miss you, I want to hold you, and be with you always and forever."
For some reason, Jiang Zuo felt incredibly embarrassed reading it. Su Qi’s words were so direct, with no subtlety at all.
’She should have gone for something more elegant,’ he thought. ’Like: My dearest wife, Su Qi, to me you are the blossoming of countless trees, the murmur of swallows in the rafters. You are love, you are warmth, you are hope, you are April in this human world.’
Jiang Zuo felt he should probably mention this to Su Qi.
But before he could say anything, Su Qi suddenly said, "I miss you."
Jiang Zuo paused for a second, then said, "I’ll come see you."
"No, you stay home. I’ll be back today or tomorrow. And this time, you have to stay with me for a long, long time," Su Qi said.
Jiang Zuo smiled. "Alright, whatever you say. I’ll wait for you to come back."
"Okay, I’m hanging up then," Su Qi said.
Jiang Zuo nodded. "Okay."
"Say you miss me," Su Qi added.
"I miss you," Jiang Zuo said.
Only then did Su Qi reluctantly hang up.
Only then did Jiang Zuo weakly stumble out of the room, blood still seeping from his wounds.
He didn’t dare stay in the room too long, afraid he’d stain the bed. It wouldn’t be good if Su Qi found out.
Seeing Jiang Zuo’s grievous injuries, Sweet Potato, who had been goofing around on the table, stopped and tilted its head at him. "QUACK?"
Dandan and the others were curious as well.
But Jiang Zuo ignored them. ’For them to be perfectly fine, something must be fishy.’
Jiang Zuo released Duan Qiao and asked, "Was this your doing?"
Duan Qiao lowered its head, remaining silent.
Jiang Zuo’s voice was cold. "Speak."
Duan Qiao stammered nervously, "I... I... Xiaohong... Xiaohong kept begging me. I couldn’t say no."
Jiang Zuo said, "Get them out of here."
Duan Qiao froze for a moment. Seeing Jiang Zuo’s grave injuries, it figured a reckoning would come later, but for now, it was good to be in the clear.
Then, using its status as the "King of the Balcony," it successfully herded the troublemakers out of the living room.
Only Sweet Potato stayed behind, watching Jiang Zuo and calling out continuously.
Jiang Zuo had no idea what it was trying to say.
Jian Shisan looked at Duan Qiao and the others. "You even caught the Yin Yang Fish? I take it you caused quite a stir in the Holy Land, then."
Jiang Zuo was speechless.
’This was a huge secret. No one could ever find out that he had killed Su Qi.’
That was something that could genuinely get someone killed. So he completely ignored Jian Shisan’s comment.
Jian Shisan didn’t press the issue and changed the subject. "If there’s nothing else, I need to head back. Your aunt has some questions for me."
’Su Qi’s aunt is going to question Jian Shisan, and he definitely won’t hide anything,’ Jiang Zuo thought. ’I wonder if I should try to bribe her later.’
’This is not the right time to let Su Qi know about this.’
Jian Shisan said, "I’ll let you know how it goes."
Jiang Zuo didn’t press him on it. This was a good opportunity for Jian Shisan to develop his relationship with Su Qi’s aunt, and he wouldn’t interfere.
Then, Jiang Zuo took out the Curse Bead and the Purification Bead. "When you head over, help me deliver these to someone. Just say I want to trade them for the Mist."
Jiang Zuo then described Blade Master Hai Bian to Jian Shisan.
Jian Shisan took the two crack-filled beads. "You should focus on recovering as quickly as possible."
Then, Jian Shisan left.
As soon as Jian Shisan was gone, Jiang Zuo planned to heal his injuries first and then clean the apartment.
He couldn’t let Su Qi find out anything. To be on the safe side, he decided not to replace the TV that now had a hole in it.
’Let her take her anger out on Sweet Potato and the others.’
As for Su Qi, she felt much better after hanging up. It was only then that she realized something—in her anxious state, she had completely forgotten to ask for a video call.
But she decided to let it go. She was already reassured, and that was enough.
