Chapter 1558: Chapter 643: Undercurrents Surging In_2

"But you still want to rescue his soul."

"This will require even more efforts."

"If I were you, unless the Red Robe Guest was my family, I would never do this!"

Tu Yuanzi looked up at Ning Zhuo, intensely serious: "Yet, your interaction with the Red Robe Guest is quite shallow. Although he lent you the Blood Ash Tinder, it was you who helped him out first."

The cave mansion fell silent.

The array patterns’ glow flowed over the stone wall like water, casting faintly swaying shadows of the two.

Ning Zhuo glanced down at the wine in his cup.

The ice blue wine liquid was clear, reflecting his bright eyes.

"Tu Yuanzi, this is my righteous path," Ning Zhuo said slowly, "Nanming Village was established because of me, I must take responsibility for it, and think for its sake."

Tu Yuanzi grew more puzzled.

He blinked his eyes: "Is Nanming Village really that important?"

Ning Zhuo put down his wine goblet, his gaze far-reaching, as if penetrating the stone wall to see beyond the cave mansion.

Outside the cave mansion, clouds stretched vast, with peaks rising and falling in the distance. The vast and profound atmosphere of Wanxiang Sect’s Main Mountain Gate was so distant and grand. On Flowing Cloud Peak, how many mountains, how many forces, how many cultivators were all engaged in both open and hidden struggles.

Nanming Village is still very weak now.

So weak like a lamp just lit.

A strong wind could extinguish it.

But this lamp was lit by his own hand.

"Important," Ning Zhuo said, "Nanming Village is a part of my Dao path, naturally it’s important!"

Upon hearing the words "Dao path," Tu Yuanzi’s expression became much more solemn.

He still couldn’t fully grasp the tangled interests within and outside Nanming Village, nor could he understand the intertwining of reputation, promises, weaknesses, and the grand righteousness of the Human Clan cultivators.

But he understood the Dao path.

Cang Yazi taught him that the Dao path is what a cultivator follows throughout their life; their life, wishes, obsessions, and future, all lie within it.

Tu Yuanzi slowly nodded: "I see. If it’s the Dao path, then it is indeed important."

Ning Zhuo smiled, pouring him another drink: "I thank you for understanding me!"

Tu Yuanzi held up the wine goblet, took a sip. The wine spread in his chest and abdomen, he straightened his back: "Then you invited me to drink this time, do you want me to participate in the Five Battles Martial Arts?"

His expression became serious.

"I heard people outside are all saying that the Nine Fire Dragon Lord was defeated, the Red Robe Guest died, Chun Yangzi fought, and Tan Zhu was just a breath away. Now everyone is talking about me."

Ning Zhuo shook his head: "I invited you to drink this time mainly to advise you not to participate in this Five Battles Martial Arts."

Tu Yuanzi was taken aback.

His hand holding the wine goblet paused in mid-air.

The wine liquid slightly swayed, reflecting his astonishment.

"Why?" he blurted out.

Ning Zhuo said: "You are my friend. I know the truth of your Golden Core Cultivation, how could I push you into the fire pit?"

Tu Yuanzi was stunned: "But I am a demon, if I reveal my true form, my combat power can rival Nascent Soul Cultivators."

Ning Zhuo gazed into Tu Yuanzi’s eyes: "The Three Brave of Xiang Sect are my tribulations, naturally, I must cross them. This matter has nothing to do with you, do not let anyone incite you to take on this fifth battle."

Tu Yuanzi felt Ning Zhuo’s sincerity, his throat moved slightly, some words were blocked in his heart, unable to be expressed and spoken for a moment.

Ning Zhuo, however, had already displayed a smile, raised his wine goblet, lightly tapping the edge of his cup: "Drink."

Ting.

The clear sound of clinking cups echoed in the cave mansion.

Tu Yuanzi looked down at the wine in his cup, his eyes seemed to brighten a bit. He quickly raised the cup and drank it all, his movements much more hurried than before, with a bit of wine slipping down the corner of his mouth, which he quickly wiped away with his sleeve.

"Daoist Fellow Ning Zhuo." Tu Yuanzi put down the wine goblet, his voice a bit lower than usual, "You are a good person."

Ning Zhuo chuckled: "Then thank you, Daoist Fellow Tu Yuanzi, for your praise."

Tu Yuanzi continued: "But, are you really planning to fight the Three Brave of the Xiang Sect?"

Ning Zhuo said: "I have already asked someone to gather intelligence. As it’s said, ’If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.’ I cannot make this decision yet."

His expression remained calm and composed: "No rush."

"Daoist Fellow Ning Zhuo, you must think three times," Tu Yuanzi’s voice tightened, "They invited the Three Brave of the Xiang Sect, and don’t forget that Taoist Artifact, the Heaven-reaching Hook, it’s truly terrifying!"

Tu Yuanzi had personally witnessed the battle and the fall of the Red Robe Guest. The Heaven-reaching Hook left him with a very deep impression of terror.

Teahouse.

Chen San sat near the window on the second floor, with a pot of spiritual tea and two plates of cloud cakes in front of him.

He didn’t move his chopsticks, just used the corner of his eye to observe the hall downstairs.

The gray-clad drinker near the counter slapped the table: "Everyone think carefully, what kind of person was the Red Robe Guest? A Nascent Soul Demon Cultivator, full of blood debts. Yet he fought for Nanming Village and died in the Five Battles Martial Arts. Young Master Ning Zhuo is willing to seal even the body and relics of such a person, what kind of magnanimity is this!"

A short, fat cultivator beside him chimed in: "That’s exactly right! Young Master Ning Zhuo is only at Foundation Establishment Mid-Stage, yet dares to acknowledge this in front of everyone. Many Golden Core and Nascent Soul Cultivators don’t have this kind of responsibility."

Inside the teahouse, some nodded, while others sneered: "Can responsibility block the Heaven-reaching Hook?"

The gray-clad drinker immediately slapped the table: "Whether it can be blocked or not is a matter of the battle techniques. Whether one dares to acknowledge it is a matter of the heart. Nanming Village is newly established, relying on Young Master Ning Zhuo, relying on this solid courage!"

Chen San sipped his tea quietly; some of the people downstairs were arranged by him, and the related rhetoric had been refined by his own hand.

Chen San’s finger gently rubbed the edge of the teacup, listening to the gradually rising discussions below, he thought, "The progress of rumors is quite good. But the matter the young master instructed me to investigate has no leads at all."

Chen San felt troubled. The investigations regarding Tan Zhu and others that Ning Zhuo had tasked him with were indeed at a level far too high for him.
