Chapter 1446: The Legless God

At the center of the battlefield, the previously quiet point of white light suddenly erupted in a blinding flash.

Inside Lunethar, Ethan's modifications were nearly complete.

With countless eyes carrying corrupted information into the body from outside, the process was still difficult, but Lunethar's repairs kept slowing. Its enormous body shrank, and its complex internal structures were forced to rearrange themselves according to the new genetic data.

Eventually, a miniature Lunethar appeared in front of Ethan.

Its eight large eyes were gone, leaving only two normal ones. It now had a nose, mouth, and ears, and its face looked almost human.

There was only one problem.

It still didn't have legs.

Ethan looked down at the little creature, seriously considering how he should finish it off.

Just then, a sphere of blue energy flew in from the distance and stopped in front of him.

The shrunken Lunethar immediately grew excited. It tried to jump, only to forget that it had no legs. With no other choice, it planted both hands on the ground and dragged itself forward.

It crawled over to Ethan and reached for the energy sphere.

But even with its arm fully extended, it could only reach his chest.

The blue sphere ignored Lunethar and obediently settled into Ethan's palm. Its outer glow slowly faded, revealing a small crystal ball.

The crystal shell was perfectly transparent.

A tiny eye floated inside.

Ethan rolled the crystal ball around his palm, then looked down at Lunethar, who was still trying to climb him.

"You want it?"

Lunethar didn't answer. It just kept wriggling upward. It even grabbed Ethan's clothes and tried to pull itself higher, but Ethan extended one finger and mercilessly pushed it back to the ground.

He held up the crystal ball, his curiosity growing.

Maybe this was a very Marty thing to do.

Or maybe he simply wanted to know what would happen if he gave the energy sphere back to Lunethar.

After several failed attempts to climb him, Lunethar finally gave up. It collapsed dejectedly on the ground, turned its eyes away, and refused to acknowledge Ethan anymore.

Ethan crouched instead.

He held the crystal ball in front of Lunethar and deliberately waved it from side to side.

"Still want it?"

Lunethar didn't react.

It didn't even look over.

Ethan's hand froze in midair, leaving him unexpectedly awkward.

A moment ago, it had been desperate to grab the thing. Now it was pretending not to want it?

Under Lunethar's shocked gaze, Ethan wrapped the crystal ball in his power and shoved it straight into its mouth.

Dense white lightning coiled around the crystal.

No matter how Lunethar looked at it, this didn't seem like an attempt to help.

The crystal ball traveled down its throat and entered its chest. Instead of falling farther, it stopped and floated in place. A pulling force came from the surrounding tissue, slowly drawing it toward the heart.

The crystal ball touched the heart.

The tiny eye inside opened.

Lunethar burst into laughter.

But its body was too small, and its mouth hadn't even finished forming. The laugh came out thin and shrill, without the slightest trace of menace.

The next moment, Lunethar's body began to expand.

Its head rose higher. Its two arms grew enormous again, and its human features were replaced by eye sockets opening one after another. Before long, the familiar Lunethar—with eight eyes and two arms—stood before Ethan once more.

It looked down at him, light shining in all eight eyes.

"Ethan!"

Its voice was deafening again.

"You're finished!"

Dense clusters of sockets reappeared across its body. Swarms of white eyes poured out and formed several layers around Ethan.

But Lunethar's excitement didn't last long.

It stared at those pure white eyes, its entire body slowly going rigid.

White-eyes.

Not them again.

These were the same eyes Ethan had tampered with last time, turning Lunethar from the Pale Moon God into a legless little creature.

Standing at the center of the swarm, Ethan looked up at Lunethar.

"What's wrong?"

His smile widened.

"Scared again?"

Ethan rolled his wrists, his knuckles cracking sharply.

The dense swarm of white eyes had already surrounded him, but now they moved aside on their own, opening a perfectly straight path. No matter how Lunethar waved its arms or commanded them to attack, not a single eye turned toward Ethan.

"Impossible!"

All eight of Lunethar's large eyes contracted, and undisguised panic crept into its voice.

"How did you do this?"

An energy sphere bounced lightly above Ethan's fingertip, white arcs of electricity flickering across its surface. Dark clouds gathered over the domain again. Thunder rolled in from the distance, making the eyes around Lunethar tremble slightly.

Ethan glanced at his hand.

"I used my hands. Is there a problem?"

His hands?

Lunethar almost cursed him on the spot.

This man had rewritten its genes and stolen control of every eye with nothing but those two hands, and now he was asking if there was a problem?

But when Lunethar looked at the eyes obediently standing aside, it swallowed the curse. The fury in its eight large eyes quickly receded, and it forced a fawning expression onto its enormous face.

"Brother Ethan, I know I was wrong."

Lunethar softened its voice as much as possible.

"I mean it."

Ethan didn't believe a word.

A moment ago, Lunethar had threatened to kill him. The instant it realized the eyes were out of control, they were suddenly brothers. Changing faces that quickly was almost a talent in itself.

Energy wings spread from Ethan's back. He flew higher, pushed the sphere away from his fingertip, then spun and drove a side kick into it.

Whoosh—

The sphere became a streak of white light shooting toward Lunethar. Ethan followed right behind it, his wings beating in quick succession as he charged down the path it opened.

Lunethar, which had been clutching its head, suddenly revealed a sinister smile.

So what if it couldn't control the eyes?

It still had fists.

Its two arms, each as broad as a city wall, spread wide. Just as Ethan was about to reach it, Lunethar swung both arms with all its strength, sweeping every uncontrolled eye in the area straight ahead.

The eyes collided with one another, packing the space between Ethan and Lunethar. The energy sphere smashed through more than a dozen white-eyes, slowing with every impact before finally exploding inside the dense swarm.

White light swallowed a large section of the eyes.

Ethan swept his gaze across those that remained. The eyes under his control immediately parted, clearing the path in front of him again.

But that had never been his real objective.

A wormhole opened ahead.

Ethan plunged straight into it, and the wormhole snapped shut behind him. When he reappeared, he was already above Lunethar's head.
