Chapter 490 (2): Left Hand of Divine Throne, Right Hand of Divine Throne

  • Next Chapter

“Since we’ve reached a consensus, from today on, Hesione will be the Viceroy of Heaven and the left hand of the divine throne, joining Mikhael, the other viceroy and the right hand of the divine throne, in supervising all other angels.”

Wayne made the announcement about the two angels who would hold status lower than only one person—him. Auriel, Gerar, and Vilkul couldn’t be more envious. Doing their best to suppress their frustration, they congratulated Hesione. Milia was the only one whose congratulations were earnest. She also messaged Hesione secretly and reminded her not to forget about her friend.

Then, Auriel turned to Mikhael coldly. “Anointed One, you’re compassionate, merciful, and wise. You’ve forgiven Mikhael and given him a chance to redeem himself. However, there are many ways to pay for one’s sins. Why would you keep him as a viceroy?”

“Well said.” Gerar and Vilkul nodded in agreement. “We do not understand with our limited wisdom. He should receive due punishment.”

Milia bluntly issued a complaint for her good friend. She believed that Mikhael had committed too great a sin to hold the same status as Hesione.

Mikhael watched the vermin coldly. If the Anointed One weren’t here, he would’ve killed all of them swiftly.

“What are you doing? Flattering Hesione?” Wayne said slowly. “Although I have absolute trust in her and will do whatever she says, she will move into the temple and spend all her time with me. She’s very likely to even bear my child. You’re wise to flatter her...”

Hesione lowered her head deeply, her heart racing and her ears flushed.

Are you hearing yourself, Anointed One? You’re undermining your own reputation. Please stop.

Of course, if the Anointed One insisted on producing an offspring with her help, she would ‘reluctantly’follow his order. His wishes were her command.

Mikhael looked at them with steel in his eyes. It was a good thing he had come to Heaven. Otherwise, Heaven would sooner or later meet its doom. Everyone believed that the Anointed One always had his reasons no matter what he said or what he did, but Mikhael alone knew that it wasn’t the case. The Anointed One had nothing to do with the ideal divinity. If he was allowed free rein, Heaven would go off the rails.

Hesione? Ha, it would be the Heavenly Father’s blessing if she didn’t leverage the Anointed One’s favor for her own selfish desires!

“Keep flattering her. I like hearing you flatter Hesione. If she’s happy, I’m happy.” Wayne then changed his attitude. “However, this is Heaven, and you are Sacred Virtues. It’s inappropriate for you to be too deceitful. You should watch yourselves.”

“You’re right.” x6

“I don’t like dragging a meeting on since that signifies incompetence. Today’s meeting is meant to appoint the two viceroys, Mikhael and Hesione. They will be superior to all other angels. I do not want to hear any dissenting voices.”

“Next, the Seven Sacred Virtues cannot remain incomplete, so someone must take Lahr’s place. You should think about good candidates in your own time and make the recommendations at the next meeting.”

“You’re dismissed. Hesione, you’ll stay.” Wayne waved the others away. “My viceroy and I have important matters to discuss. No one is to enter the Heaven of Crystals without my order.”

He didn’t specify the matters and how important they were, but the Sacred Virtues had an idea. It had to be a deep discussion about the continuation of the Anointed One’s bloodline.

The five angels flickered out of existence, returning to the Heaven of Stars on the eighth floor at the same time.

Auriel turned to Mikhael at once, his brows furrowed. “You’ve committed such a great sin, yet the Anointed One forgave you? How lucky you are.”

Mikhael was just about to head to his palace when he heard the remark. Pulling a long face, he turned around and said, “Trash, who do you think you’re speaking to? I am the Viceroy of Heaven!”

Auriel’s face flushed with ire. Pointing a trembling finger at Mikhael, he said, “The Anointed One is too merciful. He shouldn’t have forgiven your sin, and you shouldn’t have been allowed the authority of a viceroy.”

Mikhael scoffed. “Oh, are you questioning the Anointed One’s decision?”

“I’m not. I didn’t. Don’t speak nonsense.” Auriel hurriedly shook his head, urging Gerar and Vilkul, “You have to testify for me. He’s slandered me. He’s slandering me!”

“Hmph, what a clown. You’re no different from Envy.” Mikhael arrogantly stared at Auriel. “Keep your ambition for power in check, old friend, and think long and hard about your future!”

“What do you mean?”

“Lahr died, and the Seven Sacred Virtues will be re-established. Use your brain and think about it. If the Anointed One can select the Seven Sacred Virtues, he isn’t going to keep a useless fool around.”

Mikhael smirked, looking at Auriel with thicker derision in his eyes. “If memory serves, you’ve been badmouthing the Anointed One since you were in the mortal realm. If the Seven Sacred Virtues are to change, who do you think will be the first to be replaced?”

Auriel thought with horror about the oath he had sworn: I, Auriel, swear in Father’s name that if you are the Anointed One, I’ll voluntarily go to Hell and live with the Seven Deadly Sins, holding the fort in Hell without any complaint.

He broke into cold sweat. The Anointed One wasn’t going to take his words seriously, was he?

“No, he wouldn’t. The Anointed One even forgave you. My mistake is trivial in comparison!”

Auriel looked up at the sky with full devotion and went on and on about mercy, compassion, and clemency.

Don’t be ridiculous. The Anointed One is a petty man. You’re dead!

“Kekekeke—”

Mikhael broke out laughing and headed to the Palace of Humility, taking a deep breath.

“Ah, Heaven!”

“...” x3

Gerar, Vilkul, and Milia looked at Mikhael’s hysterical behavior, suspecting further that his brain had been damaged.

“That guy... How do I put it...”

“He’s become more prideful!”

“Yeah, yeah. Exactly that.” x2

***

Temple Garden, Heaven of Crystals.

Hesione staggered back from the ruined temple all the way to the vibrant bush of flowers. When Wayne followed with a confident look that said, ‘You will not escape from me,’ she pleaded with her voice slightly cracking, “Anointed One, this is Heaven. We can’t.”

“You said no to the temple and yes to the garden. Now that we’re in the garden, though, you say no again. What is the meaning of this? Are you toying with the Anointed One?”

“That’s not it. At that time—”

“I want it now. Are you giving it to me or not?”

“...”

“You are, it seems.” Wayne pulled her into his arms. “Come here!”

Rustle.

Soon after, Hesione brushed her long hair with her fingers and knelt in front of the ‘battlefield’, begging for forgiveness. She had sinfully tainted the Anointed One’s purity once more.

Wayne popped his head out and nodded when he heard her repentant words. “Yes, after the third time, you were the one who kept—”

“Anointed One!” Hesione interrupted him, raising her voice. Her face had become all red. “You must have kept me around for important business. You must have!”

“The important business is done.”

Hesione fell silent, staggering back with her hands on her chest. She mumbled about not understanding the Anointed One because her intelligence wasn’t even a fraction of the Anointed One’s.

“I just remembered. There is something else.” Wayne snapped his fingers. “Come and sit down on the divine throne. I’ll take you to the tenth level.”

Hesione sighed with relief. She knew that the Anointed One had told her to stay for something important to Heaven. Earlier... It didn’t matter. She would figure out his reasons later.

Wayne led the way. Displeased that Hesione was falling one step behind him out of respect, he pulled her back into his arms and said, “Why are you being so timid? There’s no one else around. I’m the Anointed One, and you’re a viceroy. Even if someone sees us, they won’t dare make a comment.”

Wayne held his fingers together like a blade, swinging it downward. “If anyone says anything inappropriate, I’ll knock them to Hell!”

When he said that before, it had been an empty threat, but not anymore. The subsidiary in Hell had returned to Heaven’s control, and Mikhael, the general manager, would be ready to prepare a luxury condo in Hell. There would be no succubi with big busts and long legs, but only an infinite supply of goblins and ogres.

Hesione struggled, but ended up being held more tightly. She gave up in resignation and followed Wayne to the divine throne.

“Oh, where’s Hestia?”

“Um, I don’t—”

“Viceroy Hesione, do not lie to the Anointed One.” Wayne raised an eyebrow. “I won the bet, so you will forgive Hestia for her past offense. She’s a loyal subordinate. If you don’t want her, I’ll have her.”

“Anointed One, I’ve already forgiven Hestia,” Hesione said honestly. “She’s in the Spring of Reincarnation right now. I believe she should’ve restored her angelic form.”

Wayne’s eyes twitched. He knew very well what the angels looked like originally. The thought that Lust incarnate had become a lump of chaotically shaped creature made his heart ache.

He took a look, sweeping the pale levels with countless gazes. He discovered Hestia on the first floor. Having undressed herself, Hestia was walking toward the shimmering spring with her golden stigma glowing on her chest.

She hadn’t submerged herself!

Wayne nodded to himself, taking another look. Then he closed his eyes to lock down space and tossed Hestia into the Heaven of Stars on the eighth level. She just so happened to land in Hesione’s Palace of Purity.

“Anointed One?” When Wayne said nothing, Hesione spoke up with a guilty conscience, trying to explain herself. “I know you always have your reasons, but after becoming a human, Hestia has contracted the influence of Lust from Hell. Just in case, I believe it’s better to make her return to her original form.”

“Good. You’re possessive, which means you harbor more than admiration for me. You want to monopolize me.” Wayne lifted Hesione’s chin and swallowed her protest.

Lost in his skillful kisses, Hesione started responding with ease, dazed.

After a while, Wayne looked up seriously. “The Spring of Reincarnation has fallen out of trend. The standards of the old era fail to keep up with the latest edition. As the Anointed One, I dictate that all angels should take the human form.”

Hesione nodded, finally breaking out of the haze. “Is it possible? Do all angels have to descend to the human world through reincarnation?”

It is possible, right now.

The pale ocean could just sweep through Heaven and turn every angel into his shape. Be it human or an Astral octopus, he would be able to mold them at will. However, Wayne didn’t like corrupting others. Unless he had no other choice, he wasn’t going to voluntarily corrupt another lifeform. He decided to go for another method.

The Heavenly Father was able to create angels. There had to be a backdoor.

“Follow me to the tenth level. That is the true Supreme Heaven. Elohim left everything there...”

Wayne sat down on the throne, placing the key in Hesione’s hands. “Let’s go. There lie all possibilities!”
