Chapter 543 (1): Wayne, I Finally Found You - Envy
“Elohim is the Heavenly Father, I’m the Anointed One, and the Holy Spirit...”
The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, worshipped alongside the Heavenly Father and the Anointed One, yet it is the Heavenly Father at the same time.
“The Holy Spirit resides in the hearts of the followers and alongside them. All things that guide followers toward truth and virtues are the Holy Spirit. It is omnipresent. It is the Heavenly Father’s spirit, truth’s spirit, grace’s spirit, and the spirit that grants humanity wisdom and revelation...”
Wayne rambled on for a while, nearly talking himself into getting lost. Finally, he concluded with a serious expression, “In practical terms, the Holy Spirit can be the reincarnated Anointed One walking among mortals or a follower’s teacher, or even someone who aids the followers. All of them can be considered the Holy Spirit.”
“Elohim created a large number of Holy Spirits a long time ago. They dwell in Heaven and are known as angels!”
Wayne held Hesione’s gaze. “Do you understand now? You are the Holy Spirit. Your existence is Elohim’s existence. Even the demons in Hell, who lure people into depravity and serve as negative examples, are Holy Spirits who inspire self-reflection.”
Hesione looked at Wayne with rapturous attention. Every time the Anointed One translated the Sacred Tome, she found herself lost in ecstasy.
This was the sickness of faith!
She was just like Mikhael before her, who built the First Abyss, Heaven, in Hell, doing nothing but wearing a white robe and having captured angels chant the name of the Viceroy of Heaven.
Forest, Mikhael’s replica and a parrot who always said ‘well said’, had a similar ailment. His bizarre preferences stemmed from his longing for Heaven.
He loved them pure and connected to Heaven, but since he was a denizen of Hell and the embodiment of Pride, the greatest of the Seven Deadly Sins, he dared not defile the purest beauty. He compromised, choosing fresh college graduates with some experience who weren’t clergywomen but could translate the Sacred Tome.
It was quite the twisted kink, truly a heartbreaking sight to behold.
As the Lord of Pride, Mikhael stuck to his demonic way and ran tobacco and lottery businesses in the mortal realm. Yet he knew that he was an angel, and being a demon was only his mission. Light existed in the depths of his heart. That was why he used his earnings to open a chain of orphanages, reaching out to orphans on the streets and saving the purest innocence in the world.
Be it his penchant for spectating for fun, his sealing of a reincarnated angel, or his ambiguous attitude toward the Anointed One, Mikhael was an embodiment of contradictions. He longed for the Holy Light but dared not approach it, and while he was in Hell, he despised it.
The most glaring example was how whenever Wayne praised Mikhael as the Anointed One to cloud nine, Mikhael would become so intoxicated that he lost himself entirely. In that state, he would listen to whatever Wayne said.
The Anointed One to whom the angels must be loyal (?)
An incubus specialized in charming angels (?)
Because there were so many bizarre cases in Heaven, those who were immune to the incubus, like Hestia, were rare exceptions that proved the rule. There was no need to elaborate further.
“Hesione, do you understand after all I’ve said?”
Wayne doubled down on his manipulation, drilling the concept into Hesione’s mind. He needed her to grasp the concept of the Holy Spirit. “You are the Holy Spirit, while I am the Anointed One, and Elohim, the Heavenly Father. Though there seems to be a large gap between us, the three of us are the Trinity. We are all Elohim.”
Hesione nodded. She understood, so why was he saying all this?
“Elohim is bringing about the Final Judgment. His goal isn’t to destroy the world, but to awaken the true beauty and goodness in the human heart through the destruction. He wanted everyone to recognize the sins they had committed and embrace the Seven Sacred Virtues, leaving behind the Seven Deadly Sins.”
Wayne pressed on. “On the day of judgment, Elohim will descend. He sincerely wants us to emerge victorious because it will mean that humanity has passed the trial of the Final Judgment. That is what He truly desires...”
“To test every heart, His redemption is going to be extremely difficult. If we do not band together in a united front, with the determination to kill Him, victory will be out of our reach. The redemption will fail.”
Hesione listened thoughtfully, gaining new insights when she reread the Revelation.
She had always had an active imagination!
“I have a question, Anointed One,” Hesione said with a stern face.
Whenever she started thinking, Wayne’s head throbbed. He rubbed his temples and said, “I’ve explained clearly. What questions could you possibly have? Fine. Since I am the Holy Spirit guiding you right now, ask away. I’ll help you sort it out.”
Mona stared in silence. She had seen this scene countless times before. Without a doubt, Hesione would soon have no questions.
“Great Anointed One, if Father has prepared heavy trials and raised the difficulty of the Final Judgment to the highest level, why would you reveal the truth to me?”
“Is redemption still redemption if the truth is laid bare? If redemption is carried out for the sake of redemption, with impure motives, can it still be considered a trial?”
“Good question!” Wayne nodded firmly, raising two fingers. “I have two answers for you. Pick whichever makes more sense to you.”
“First, Elohim had me reveal the specifics of the Final Judgment because He thought it too difficult and worried that we wouldn’t pass the trial. The Heavenly Father loves all. This is his mercy.”
“Second, Elohim had me reveal the specifics of the Final Judgment because He thought it too easy and worried that we would easily overcome the trial without comprehending the true meaning of redemption. Thus, He revealed it deliberately, forcing us to overcome the impure motive of seeking redemption for its own sake, thereby achieving true redemption.”
Wayne took a deep breath. “He really... Ugh, I’m exhausted—no, I’m devastated. He has given so much to redeem everyone.”
Hesione was at a loss. Both made sense to her, and she couldn’t choose between the two. She hoped that the Anointed One would guide her out of her confusion.
“It doesn’t matter what I think, Hesione. You need to think on your own. This is your path to redemption. Make it as hard as you see fit.” Wayne patted her on the shoulder, his tone solemn. “You are the most favored angel. Both Elohim and I hold the highest expectations for you. On the day of judgment, do not let Elohim down. If your sword stays for even a second, it will be a disrespect to him and to me.”
Hesione nodded and bowed deeply. “Worry not, Great Anointed One. The path to redemption is hard-won. I will not disappoint you and Father. I will do my best and fulfill my purpose as the Holy Spirit.”
“That’s what I want to hear.” Wayne nodded in approval. “Remember, the Final Judgment will be brutal. Elohim will not only strike you physically, but also mentally deny everything you and I stand for.”
“What do you mean?”
“Trials aren’t trials if they aren’t difficult,” Wayne said like it was obvious. “If—and I do mean if—I were Elohim, I would point at Wayne and snarl, ‘Who the hell are you? Where did this so-called Anointed One come from? You are not the one in my prophecy!’”
Hesione nodded slowly, grasping what he meant.
“Elohim will deny your understanding and overturn truths to confuse you and lead you to self-doubt. That is the true threat of the Final Judgment.”
After the warning, Wayne asked, “How are things going with you and Mona? Are you about to ascend to godhood?”
Hesione’s expression stiffened. “Soon, very soon.”
“Soon... how soon?” Wayne had a bad feeling.
“A few years at best, or a few hundred, at the longest...”
Wayne was at a loss for words. Becoming a god meant immortality. Even without becoming a god, for beings who didn’t age like Hesione, a few hundred years were nothing. It was indeed ‘soon’.
However, Wayne could wait centuries, but the Final Judgment couldn’t. Even a few months would be cutting it close.
What to do?!
Wayne considered merging Heaven and Hell into his new Divine Realm, forcing the merge even though the styles didn’t match. That, however, could only be done with the prerequisite that Heaven and Hell had a god. Otherwise, the two Laws would destabilize with the risk of losing balance.
The six goddesses were too powerful at present, especially with the benefits they received within the Divine Realm. They had become many times stronger than when they stood alone.
Wayne rubbed his temples and summarized the current situation to Hesione and Mona. “Do you have any good ideas? Don’t worry about making mistakes. While being right is ideal, even mistakes can spark inspiration.”
“Heretics...” Hesione’s expression darkened. Noble as the Anointed One was, why had he gone out and formed a new Divine Realm instead of staying in Heaven? She was quite certain that the Anointed One’s purity had been tainted once more—all at once, by six goddesses.
The left side of the divine throne sighed in sorrow and spoke with disappointment, “You have suffered to save the world once more, Great Anointed One.”
It sounded like sarcasm, but hearing more closely, it was indeed sarcasm.
Mona, the chief sex-paying officer, wasn’t worried about such things. Hardened from countless battles, always present whenever there was an orgy, she had seen it all. She asked curiously, “Boss, do you really have to move Heaven and Hell to the new Divine Realm?”
“Of course. Otherwise, how can they be unified?”
“You don’t have to move them to unify them!” Mona blinked. Wayne had been meticulously balancing his residence, the Lando Estate, the Holy Maiden of Darkness’s manor, and the High Reverend of Moonlight’s manor. She had seen it with her own eyes. While the places seemed separate, they were already unified.
(???)
Focus, Wayne thought. We’re talking about the Divine Realm. Why do you bring up the estates and manors? They don’t belong in the same conversation.
“I told you to speak boldly because wrong answers can inspire me, too, and you took it seriously.” Wayne huffed. He was about to propose two proper answers as examples when his eyes lit up.
Mona... might have hit the nail on the head!
Indeed, who said that Heaven and Hell had to be moved into the Divine Realm? They just had to be moved into the pale ocean!
Wayne held Mona’s gaze intensely. He had once joked about having his right hand fight his left hand, directing the war between the Divine Realm and Heaven. Today, God would defeat the King of Gods, dragging the goddesses back to Heaven as slaves. Tomorrow, the King of Gods would turn the tables, not only recovering the goddesses, but also capturing a group of female angels.
Why weren’t there male angels, you ask? Well, revenge was about targeted attacks. God had not captured male gods!
What had once been a joke now seemed highly feasible. All he needed to do was move Heaven and Hell into the pale ocean. If the aesthetics clashed, separate them. As long as they existed in the pale ocean, they could correspond to the cover of the Book of Greed.
“You’re my goddess of fortune, Mona. Come. Let me give you a kiss.”
He pulled his secretary in by her waist, pressing a kiss to her red lips before pressing their faces together, cupping her face.
(?_?)
The Viceroy of Heaven was jealous. Unable to bear the sight, she pried them apart and said seriously, “Great Anointed One, this isn’t the time for romance! Time waits for no one. If you have an idea, act on it!”
“Really? I was going to sweet-talk you!”
“...”
Amid Mona’s teasing laughter, Hesione turned away, stubbornly insisting, “Time is precious. Please don’t waste it on meaningless things.”
“Are you sure it’s meaningless?”
“...”
Having set herself up and made things worse for herself, Hesione stayed silent, choosing to say nothing.
Wayne pulled her in and kissed her. After wrapping his arms around the two identical women, he called out to Heaven and Hell, scattered across the Astral Plane, and drew the two Divine Realms closer.
You’ve got a nice Divine Realm, Elohim. It’s to be Wayne’s Divine Realm from now on!
