Trunks was stunned. He had expected Shin to make a heroic last stand, like Gohan, sacrificing himself to damage the androids. He hadn’t expected Shin to run like a coward. But then, he thought, Shin was only human. He couldn’t expect him to be as reckless as himself.
Trunks decided to help Shin.
But then he froze, seeing the two androids stop in their tracks, their faces a mask of shock.
Black shadows snaked around their feet.

"This jutsu always comes in handy," Shin laughed.
This was his plan all along—lure them to the ground and trap them with the Shadow Paralysis Jutsu.
"What kind of monster are you? What is this?" 17 and 18 were completely bewildered. As androids, they had never shown such expressions of disbelief. They were completely paralyzed, unable to move.
Shin had them under his control.
He immediately formed hand seals, preparing to use genjutsu.
His Mangekyō Sharingan blazed to life. He was going to use Tsukuyomi on them.
He wasn’t sure if it would work. Tsukuyomi required a normal human mind, and these were androids.
But it seemed to work. 17 and 18 were plunged into their own tragic mental worlds. Shin quickly understood why.
They were originally human, only later modified into androids. After all, 18 would later have a child with Krillin. So, against androids with human blood, this kind of jutsu was perfect. But then Shin noticed they were starting to break free.
"Bastard!" 17 suddenly broke free from the Tsukuyomi and charged at Shin.

18 should have dodged, but seeing her brother captured by Shin, her heart ached. She charged at Shin and was also caught by the Susanoo.
With both of them restrained, Shin used his Sharingan to cast another genjutsu on them.
Shin could have used more powerful techniques, even Kotoamatsukami, but in the world of Dragon Ball, he didn’t have a surplus of Sharingan to spare. He had to rely on these second-rate methods.
Trunks felt like he was in a dream. Just moments ago, he thought Shin was done for, and his heart was filled with grief. Now, Shin had actually captured 17 and 18. He was ecstatic.
He had chosen the right teacher. If he could learn even a fraction of what this teacher knew, wouldn’t he be invincible?
Trunks smiled, a vision of his future flashing before his eyes. After Gohan’s death, his martial arts training had stalled. He didn’t know who to turn to. Now, seeing Shin’s incredible power, he knew he had found his new master.
Trunks saw a path to honoring his father and saving the world. He laughed with excitement.
But then Shin suddenly shouted, "Not good!" and dodged just in time.
A massive energy blast shot past him. Shin quickly recovered and, as he neared 17 and 18, plucked a strand of hair from each of them.
"Impressive, kid. You actually managed to dodge my fatal blow. But your luck runs out now."
A grotesque figure—Cell—walked towards them. He was still in his imperfect form, a monstrous creature that resembled an insectoid beast.
Cell charged towards 17 and 18.
Shin had intended to stop him. He knew how terrifying Cell would become after absorbing 17 and 18. But then he had another thought. Sooner or later, he would have to face the perfect Cell. He might as well let it happen now and test his strength.
He paused. Shin now possessed the Sage Body, the Sharingan, and all five chakra natures. But in the world of Dragon Ball, he couldn’t use his Wood Style.
Cell absorbed 17 and 18 in an instant. Trunks watched in horror, his mind reeling.
So much had happened in one day that his worldview was beginning to shatter. First, the terrifyingly powerful 17 and 18 were defeated with relative ease by Shin. Then, another monster appeared and simply absorbed them.
And most importantly, why did this new monster give Trunks such a disgusting, repulsive feeling?
Shin seemed to understand what Cell was thinking. He laughed and said, "If that man doesn’t die, you will die at his hands in the future." Trunks was confused, not understanding Shin’s words.
At that moment, Cell finished absorbing 17 and 18. He let out a long breath and looked at Shin and the others as if they were a joke.
"Thank you, you son of a bitch. You saved me a lot of time and effort by letting me absorb 17 and 18 without any cost."
"You must be incredibly arrogant to just stand by and watch me absorb them..."
