She had regained consciousness just now, only to see her last living relative murder someone right before her. Forget Su Zhuo, a businesswoman used to the cutthroat corporate world; even a battle-hardened supernatural being would struggle to keep their composure in this situation.

In Huaxia, the principle of using harsh laws in troubled times had continued to this day. The authorities were already struggling to deal with the endless stream of supernatural incidents. To deter those with malicious intentions, be they supernatural beings or ordinary humans, the Public Security Bureau gave anyone who dared kill someone inside a city the maximum sentence.

Su Zhuo wanted to take the blame for Yu Xian, trade her life for his. However, before she could come up with a suitable excuse, Zhang Shou revived and got up from the floor. Then he and Yu Xian came over to her hospital bed together.

Seeing that Su Zhuo had already sat up, Yu Xian called out to her. "Auntie!"

"Auntie?"

This was how he had always addressed Su Zhuo. Because he had called her that ever since he was little, neither he nor Su Zhuo thought there was anything strange about it. It was similar to how some families called their children "baby" from a young age, and even after the children grew up, they still habitually called them "baby." No matter how old they were, they were still their baby.

However, Su Zhuo only stared blankly at Zhang Shou, as if she had not heard Yu Xian at all.

Yu Xian did not have mind-reading abilities, so naturally, he had no idea what she was thinking. He instinctively looked at Zhang Shou, while Zhang Shou frowned and muttered, "That's strange. Could Auntie have some other underlying condition we don't know about? Emotional deficiency or damage to her brain's memory center?"

Su Zhuo finally came back to herself and slowly looked toward Yu Xian. "Little Xian, am I... dreaming?"

She was certain her eyes weren't playing tricks on her. Just now, Yu Xian had clearly shot the other young man in the head, so why was that young man alive and well, acting as if he and Yu Xian were the best of brothers? Her mind was practically smoking, and she still could not figure out the logic behind it. Have I finally found proof that this is a virtual world?

The next moment, Yu Xian, overwhelmed by emotion, pulled her into a hug. As she listened to his excited sobs, all her doubts, confusion, and unease were set aside.

In front of Yu Xian, she was the adult. Even if the sky fell, she would hold it up for him.

She smiled and gently patted his back. "Alright now, you're a grown man, and you still like to act like a spoiled baby with me. Aren't you ashamed?"

Zhang Shou wiped his reddened eyes. "Auntie, just let him cry for a while. This past year really hasn't been easy for him."

Yu Xian had lost his mother when he was little and his father when he was still young. In the end, he himself had nearly died of illness. Although he was more mature than others his age, he was not truly grown up. So when he regained someone he thought he had lost and with everything he had gone through in the past, it was only natural that he would become emotional in front of his only living relative.

After joining Qilin, Zhang Shou had come to understand Yu Xian's situation very well. He was genuinely happy for Yu Xian from the bottom of his heart.

Amid their reunion, all of a sudden, intense golden light shone in through the window. The three of them could not help but look outside.

An enormous metallic halo appeared above Zenith City, almost covering the entire city. Its surface was covered in ancient runes. The runes were right there in plain sight of the trio, yet if they broke eye contact for just a second, their brains couldn't retain even a single memory of what the runes looked like.

When Yu Xian saw the halo, he immediately recognized it as something belonging to the Extreme Dragon. "Not good. The Extreme Dragon has locked on to me!"

His expression changed. Before Zhang Shou and Su Zhuo could ask him anything, he immediately wrapped them both in spatial bubbles. In the blink of an eye, he teleported the two of them to Silver City.

Yu Xian himself teleported out of Zenith City. Sure enough, the halo covering the sky above Zenith City quickly chased after him. Yu Xian immediately used Appraisal on himself.

When he saw his attribute panel, he discovered that his lifespan value had changed to a string of question marks. He froze for a moment, then immediately wrapped himself in a spatial bubble and teleported to the dead world.

Standing on the cracked ground, he appraised himself again. Sure enough, his lifespan had returned to 3,648,922,477.

Only then did he let out a sigh of relief as he sat inside the bubble. "That scared me to death."

He never expected the Extreme Dragon to track him down, which just proved how ridiculously petty it was. I only sent a few pieces of trash his way. Is there really any need to get that furious? Could it be that from now on, every time I return to the Blue Planet, the Extreme Dragon will come after me?

Although he did not regret sending those Namoans over to the Extreme Dragon, this had indeed turned into a huge problem.

Yu Xian sat inside the bubble, staring up at the dark, overcast sky with a deep sense of foreboding. He had finally regained what he had lost. Now, he was someone with family again. If he did not go back, his aunt would definitely worry about him.

Taking a deep breath, he decisively pulled himself together. His Super Brain began searching for a solution. "No. I have to find a way back."

He stood absolutely no chance against the Extreme Dragon in a straight fight. To make matters worse, it apparently possessed spatial abilities of its own, considering how the halo had materialized out of thin air right above Zenith City. If he dragged the Extreme Dragon into this world, he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't just find a way back.

He racked his brains for ideas. Can I redirect this disaster elsewhere? But to whom?

Aside from the Extreme Dragon, the only other being Yu Xian could not see through was Asonis. Not knowing Asonis’s whereabouts meant he had no way to initiate a confrontation. Moreover, he couldn't shake the troubling possibility that even if he somehow made that happen, the Extreme Dragon could emerge victorious.

Between the Extreme Dragon and Asonis, it was genuinely hard to say which one was stronger. Both of them exceeded the limits of his Appraisal. Personally, he felt that Asonis was stronger. After all, just seeing Asonis had caused his eyeballs to burst, while he could at least look directly at the Extreme Dragon.

Then again, his experience could have been simply too shallow. There was always the chance that the Extreme Dragon came from an even more terrifying background.

After nearly ten minutes, Yu Xian closed his eyes and controlled an eyeball bubble outside Zenith City to look up at the sky. The halo from earlier had already disappeared. Fortunately, it seemed the Extreme Dragon could not lock on to him after he changed worlds. However, that did not mean he would be safe once he returned.

While he continued thinking about how to shake off the Extreme Dragon's pursuit, a faint sound came from above. He immediately raised his head and looked at the overcast sky. This blanket of dark clouds was the final protection for the beings living in this world, shielding them from the gaze of the Abyss. The giant serpent had met its demise simply because it dispersed those protective clouds, drawing the immediate attention of Asonis and getting turned into its afternoon snack.

Jingle, jingle, jingle-jingle-jingle...

The sound from the sky gradually became clearer. Through the haze, Yu Xian spotted a barefoot woman with disheveled green hair draped over her shoulders, clad in a flowing golden robe. Countless bells jingled from her ankles, wrists, waist, neck, and ears as she stepped through the void, treading down from the sky one slow step at a time.

For some inexplicable reason, even though this woman exuded an aura so overwhelmingly powerful it defied description, Yu Xian could not feel the slightest fear in his heart. Instead, he felt especially calm. He just stood there dazed, watching blankly as the woman descended from the sky and stopped right in front of him.

By the time he came back to his senses, it was already too late to teleport away. Only then did he belatedly realize how terrifying this woman was. When facing her, he had lost all sense of vigilance.

Yu Xian met the woman's gaze and instinctively cast Appraisal. The woman's attribute panel instantly appeared in his mind.

Summary

It was all for nothing. Yu Xian had not expected this woman to be all question marks as well. But why are the names of her abilities visible?

This woman was only the second being he had appraised whose attribute panel was a wall of question marks. Unlike the Extreme Dragon, whose attribute panel had been nothing but question marks from top to bottom, hers revealed her lifespan and the names of her abilities. However, the descriptions of those abilities were still hidden behind rows of question marks.

Yu Xian had no idea why this was the case. He swallowed and asked cautiously, "May I ask, is there something you need?"

Eternal Purity met his gaze, and her serene eyes seemed to have read his innermost thoughts. "Think nothing of it. We are simply brought together by fate, so I must travel with you for a while."

Yu Xian's mind was full of questions. He really wanted to shout, "Death to riddlers," but after glancing at Eternal Purity, he decisively chose to back down and did not dare say what he was thinking out loud.

For a long while, the two simply stared at each other. Unable to stand the strange atmosphere any longer, Yu Xian controlled his bubble and moved in the direction where he had previously discovered the giant serpent.

After flying some distance away, he looked back at Eternal Purity, who was still standing where she had been, and secretly let out a small sigh of relief. Great. She is not following me.

But when he looked forward again, Eternal Purity was already standing not far ahead, waiting for him. Damn it.

His expression changed. He looked back and found that Eternal Purity had already disappeared from her original spot. Damn.

At this moment, Yu Xian's face twisted into a mask of pain. I think I've picked up something unclean.

As expected, a place swallowed by the Abyss was just too dangerous. If one lost focus for even a second, one could easily invite massive trouble or end up entangled with all kinds of freaks.

Yu Xian wanted to go home so badly. He missed Su Zhuo, missed Nora, missed Zhang Shou...
