Chapter 156: The Furry-hand Race and the Wolf Brush

Seizing the opportunity, Yu Xian wrapped an arm around Nora and rushed into a spatial bubble. The bubble expanded just enough to envelop Nora's mother as well. In the next instant, all three of them teleported to Qilin's headquarters.

The trio appeared in one of the headquarters' corridors. The personnel monitoring the corridor were familiar with Yu Xian. He was the only person capable of using spatial abilities within the headquarters, so it would be difficult not to remember him.

Even when they saw him return with two other people, they showed no intention of approaching to ask questions. They merely glanced over before hurrying away to continue their work.

Yu Xian set Nora down. "This is Qilin's headquarters. Follow me!"

Nora's mother asked in a soft, trembling voice, "What exactly is going on? Who sent those assassins?"

"Mom, Dad had been killed by the progenitor. The progenitor also sent those assassins." Nora's tears began flowing again despite her efforts to hold them back.

Her mother froze on the spot. Gradually, her eyes reddened as tears streamed down her cheeks.

After a long while, she murmured, "I always said that old bastard Edward couldn't be trusted. That shifty-eyed bastard was never a good person. Back then, he even tried to persuade me to become a vampire, going on about eternal life. As if I'd believe a word of his nonsense."

Yu Xian helplessly said, "Auntie, this isn't the place to talk. Let's head to the conference room first."

Quite a few people had noticed him standing with two crying women, and their expressions were becoming increasingly gossipy.

The conference room was only a few steps away. With Yu Xian leading the way, the three of them arrived outside the room. He pushed open the door and walked in. Everyone inside was slacking off. Some were playing with their phones, while others were staring blankly into space.

While the situation was indeed tense, without orders from above, there was nothing anyone could do. They could only wait in the conference room for further news.

Yu Xian looked at everyone in the conference room. "This is Marcus's daughter, Nora, and her mother. Please help me look after them."

He sat the two beside Gong Qian and whispered, "Vice Captain, the progenitor has killed Marcus. He's now trying to capture Nora and her mother. Please keep an eye on them and don't let them leave headquarters."

Gong Qian glanced at the two women, then asked, "All right. What about you?"

"There is something I still have to do," Yu Xian said with a serious expression as he headed out of the conference room.

He returned to Ice City. Two more men in black trench coats climbed inside through the window of Nora's mother's room and immediately checked on the two other men lying on the floor.

Suddenly, an eyeball bubble appeared out of thin air and stared at one of them. The man reacted extremely quickly, slashing at the eyeball bubble with his blade.

Yu Xian materialized from thin air, wielding the Manji Thunderflash Blade. With a single swift strike, he slit the man's throat.

The other attacker raised his left hand and rapidly fired at Yu Xian. Yu Xian made no attempt to dodge, allowing the bullets to strike the Dragon Shield. He just stared at the man. "Can you tell me how you entered the country?"

Suddenly, Yu Xian slashed behind himself. His blade severed a long, fur-covered arm clutching a dagger. The man in black before him screamed in agony as blood gushed out inside his black trench coat.

Staring at the man, Yu Xian murmured, "The Furry-Hand Squad from Francia... Could the progenitor be hiding there?"

He dismissed the idea immediately. Since the progenitor dared to send a force cultivated within Francia's territory into Huaxia to abduct Nora, he himself was almost certainly not hiding there. The real question was that over the past five hundred years, just how many hidden forces had the progenitor cultivated using the Blood Race's immense wealth.

Yu Xian flashed forward and killed the attacker with a single slash. He teleported both corpses back to headquarters before continuing to eliminate the remaining attackers outside.

The group that attacked the home of Nora's mother was a nine-person tactical squad. Four of them had entered the house to attack and search it, and the other five remained outside to provide support.

The Furry-Hand Squad from Francia was composed entirely of members of the Furry-Hand Race. They were a little-known supernatural race whose progenitor had eaten a Forbidden Fruit and transformed into a monster with a thousand arms.

The more arms a member of the Furry-Hand Race possessed, the more powerful they were. They could conceal their furry arms beneath their trench coats, then make them "appear" within an enemy's visual blind spots to launch unexpected attacks.

Unfortunately for them, their opponent this time was Yu Xian. He had visual blind spots, but no true blind zones.

Using Super Sense to map out his surroundings, Yu Xian flashed from one attacker to another and instantly killed four members of the Furry-Hand Race. He imprisoned the final attacker, a woman, inside a bubble. Black threads pierced her to extract her blood while he read her memories.

After going through the memories regarding this attack, Yu Xian frowned. Every member of the squad had entered Huaxia separately one year ago under the guise of a tourist. In other words, the progenitor of the Blood Race had made plans to abduct Nora as early as a year ago. He had even prepared to make an enemy of the entire world.

Of course, his true preparations had probably begun far, far earlier. It was even possible that the progenitor had conceived this audacious plan before Yu Xian and Nora were born.

Unfortunately, this squad was merely cannon fodder. They had infiltrated Huaxia on orders from their superiors and received instructions to seize Nora the moment Marcus died.

When carrying out a mission, the members of this group had no idea what kind of enemy they would be facing. Therefore, the intelligence they possessed was extremely limited. For this mission, they did not even know that their true employer was the progenitor of the Blood Race.

After dealing with the situation there, Yu Xian immediately teleported to Silver City without stopping to rest. The moment he appeared outside Nora's home, the stench of blood assaulted his nostrils from within.

Upon entering the house, he found several of Nora's human bodyguards dead. Their injuries were remarkably similar. A bamboo leaf had struck all of them in a vital spot. Yu Xian crouched down and pulled a leaf from a bodyguard's wound. It truly was an ordinary bamboo leaf. He inhaled deeply while holding the leaf, and a model of the weapon instantly appeared in his mind.

The attacker's weapon of choice was a Wolf Brush, an unconventional weapon from ancient times. A proper Wolf Brush was normally constructed from metal, but the attacker's weapon had actually been made from ordinary bamboo.[1]

After gaining an understanding of what had happened here, he continued deeper into the estate. He crossed the garden and entered the main building, its doors riddled with holes left by bamboo leaves. The strong scent of bamboo still lingered in the air.

Several vampires lay on the floor, their bodies reduced to desiccated corpses. They were all Marcus's trusted subordinates. Evidently, the progenitor of the Blood Race had drained every drop of blood from their bodies.

Yu Xian walked over to one of the corpses and cut his finger, allowing a drop of blood to fall onto it. A moment later, the shriveled body rapidly filled out again.

Once the "corpse" regained consciousness, she immediately rose and knelt before Yu Xian. "Zhao Caiying greets Master."

"You can just call me Boss. Your assignment will remain unchanged. Continue protecting Nora," Yu Xian ordered her.

He knew that Nora and Zhao Caiying were very close. If Nora learned that Zhao Caiying had died as well, she would be heartbroken for a long time. That was why he had used the Ultimate Source Blood to revive her.

After giving it some thought, he decided to revive Nora's other bodyguards as well. He was quite well-off now, after all, and could easily afford the small expense.

Ordering them to clean up the house, he enveloped himself with red light. In an instant, he appeared inside an old tube building.[2]
