New Ability Every Ten Days: Becoming a Vampire Made Me Too OP
Chapter 223: Oasis
Several days later, a spacecraft bearing the Good Passage Company's logo slowly cruised forward within the crimson Abyss. Numerous barriers protected the spacecraft's interior, preventing the Abyss's energy from corrupting the pilot and passengers. Even the scenery outside was passed through multiple layers of filtration. Looking directly at the Abyss with the naked eye was essentially the same as staring into the Abyss itself and could lead to all sorts of strange illnesses.
Yu Xian had learned how to pilot the spacecraft from Feilichi's memories. He was sitting in the pilot's seat, eating while studying one of the Ancient Cosmic Dragon's scales.
After defeating the dragon, he had used a large number of eyeball bubbles to gather every dragon scale scattered across the battlefield. He then took out the spacecraft and left that world fragment.
Currently, the spacecraft's artificial intelligence had taken control of the spacecraft and was heading toward Crescent Bay according to Yu Xian's instructions. Directions within the Abyss were extremely chaotic. Without the spacecraft, Yu Xian's only option would have been to wrap himself inside a pocket dimension and simply drift wherever the currents took him.
In fact, most supernatural beings from the Blue Planet who entered the Abyss spent their time wandering around fragmented worlds like the one where the Ancient Cosmic Dragon hibernated. Many of them had never seen the true face of the Abyss at all and even believed those fragmented worlds were the Abyss itself.
Still, they were among the fortunate. Few who had ever truly gazed upon the Abyss for what it truly was could make it back.
Little Huang Quan entered through the doorway carrying a small plate and expectantly looked at Yu Xian. "Big Bro, I made some roasted meat. Do you want some?"
Yu Xian nodded. "Perfect timing. I was just getting hungry."
Putting down the dragon scale, he picked up a skewer and took a bite. He immediately gave her a thumbs-up. Little Huang Quan's face lit up with a delighted smile, radiating pure bliss as if she were standing in a field of blooming flowers.
Yu Xian smiled. "Little Huang Quan, your roasted meat has already surpassed mine. Tomorrow, I'll teach you how to make some other dishes!"
Inside, however, he was screaming in frustration. I can't keep eating roasted meat every day!
He had to hurry up and teach Little Huang Quan how to cook something else. Otherwise, if he ate roasted meat every single day, even a vampire would start worrying about constipation, not that it could ever actually happen to him.
Little Nora ran in with several bamboo skewers of roasted meat stuffed in his mouth. He plopped down onto a chair. "Big Bro, how much longer until we reach Crescent Bay?"
The spacecraft they were traveling in was a six-seater, medium-sized spacecraft. Although it was not particularly luxurious, it had every basic living area they needed, including a virtual entertainment zone for passing the time.
Crescent Bay had existed for nearly three thousand years. Countless races that had lost their homelands had gathered there and gradually come to regard it as their second home. Over time, this had also given rise to numerous films and other forms of entertainment about the place.
Little Nora had spent several hours in the virtual entertainment zone and was clearly already full of anticipation for Crescent Bay.
Yu Xian did not answer Little Nora directly and instead asked the spacecraft's artificial intelligence, "Little Du, how much longer until we reach Crescent Bay?"
Mechanical lifeforms also existed in Crescent Bay, and they regarded any artificial intelligence that developed a sense of self as one of their own. Therefore, the spacecraft was equipped with only a weak artificial intelligence that had no self-awareness or emotions.
Little Du mechanically replied, "Esteemed customer, this Good Passage medium-sized spacecraft is still 300 quintillion light-years from Crescent Bay. We must pass through six spatially stable regions before arrival. Therefore, we will require another twenty-one days to reach Crescent Bay."
Within the Abyss, there were also fragments broken off from fragmented worlds. They were essentially pockets of stable spatial energy.
Once the spacecraft entered one of those regions of stable spatial energy, it could perform a spatial jump and teleport to another stable region that had already been marked. So although Crescent Bay was still an unimaginably long distance away, spatial jumps could considerably shorten the journey.
Yu Xian turned toward Little Nora. "Did you hear that? We still have twenty-one days to go."
Little Nora immediately slumped over the table and listlessly said, "That's so long. I wonder if Lord Radiant Peacock King will stay in Crescent Bay that long."
Yu Xian asked, confused, "Radiant Peacock King?"
Seeing that Yu Xian had never heard of the term, Little Nora immediately launched into an excited explanation. By the time he finished, Yu Xian did not know whether to laugh or cry.
It turned out Little Nora had watched a movie called Legend of the Five Colors. The story was roughly about five different avians joining forces to defeat evil. Heeding the call of the Radiant Peacock King, Little Duckling, Little Swan, Little Quail, Little Mandarin Duck, and Little Wild Goose each received a sacred plume that sprouted upon their crowns. Empowered by these feathers, they transformed into Five-Colored Divine Avians to wage war against the evil Dragon Legion.
Little Duckling could transform into a golden divine bird, Little Swan into a white divine bird, Little Quail into an orange divine bird, Little Mandarin Duck into a red divine bird, and Little Wild Goose into a black divine bird. Through friendship, hard work, and courage, they defeated one evil dragon after another until they finally faced the wicked Winged Dragon King.
The ending was a classic. The Five-Colored Divine Avians were no match for the Winged Dragon King. On the verge of death, they finally sensed the presence of the Radiant Peacock King and realized that they were actually his children. They then fused, transformed into the Radiant Peacock King, and defeated the Winged Dragon King.
Yu Xian chuckled. "Well, let's hope the Radiant Peacock King is still in Crescent Bay when we arrive."
Realizing that Yu Xian was only humoring him, Little Nora indignantly said, "Big Bro, I know that's just a story, so don't treat me like a child. But Lord Radiant Peacock King is a genuine Star-rank powerhouse. He's definitely the pride of us avians."
Little Huang Quan was curious. "Avians? Aren't you a Garuda?"
Little Nora explained, "Garudas are birds too, so of course we're part of the avians. It's like the Swamp Human, Featherlight Human, Ancient Apefolk, and the dreaded Bipedal Apes. They're all different races, but they all fall under the umbrella of the human race."
Yu Xian nodded. "That's indeed how Crescent Bay classifies them."
Little Huang Quan expectantly looked at Yu Xian. "Then what about me?"
Little Nora, however, spoke without thinking. "You're obviously a Yellow Springs Water Ghost."
Little Huang Quan immediately became upset and glared at Little Nora with puffed cheeks. "I-I'm not a Yellow Springs Water Ghost!"
Little Nora refused to back down. "But you are."
Yu Xian gently patted Little Huang Quan's head to calm her down and said, "No, Little Nora. You're wrong. Little Huang Quan isn't a Yellow Springs Water Ghost. Strictly speaking, there isn't even such a thing as a Yellow Springs Water Ghost."
Little Nora did not argue with Yu Xian. Instead, he exclaimed in shock, "Big Bro, don't tell me my database isn't just outdated, but also contains a lot of incorrect information?"
Yu Xian chuckled. "No. It's simply that no one knows the truth."
There were actually many Yellow Springs Water Ghosts. Looking across the entire Abyss, there were quite a few Yellow Springs Water Ghosts that had reached Star rank or even Void Rank.
The so-called Yellow Springs Water Ghosts were simply the result of malicious ghosts banding together for survival. Individually, each ghost was very weak, so they fused into a single entity and took turns controlling the body.
Little Huang Quan was never an essential part of the process. Whenever worlds that possessed underworlds collapsed, the malicious ghosts within would naturally gather together in an attempt to save themselves. That was how Yellow Springs Water Ghosts came into existence. Precisely because there were so many Yellow Springs Water Ghosts, Little Nora's inherited knowledge included methods for dealing with them.
After explaining this, Yu Xian smiled. "Strictly speaking, Little Huang Quan is a sacred spirit. If she gathers enough Faith, she may even have a chance to become a Nature Deity."
The reason Little Huang Quan had cried after eating meat infused with positive thoughts was that her mother, Wang Chuan, had once possessed the Faith of countless people as well and prepared food for her in the same way.
Little Nora looked at Little Huang Quan in surprise. "A Nature Deity? That sounds really powerful."
Yu Xian neither confirmed nor denied it. "The Power of Nature Deities ranges from 1 to 1,000. However, becoming a Nature Deity requires a vessel to anchor oneself to. Most of them anchor their existence to their true physical form. Because of that, once their world is destroyed, they too will face annihilation."
Little Huang Quan understood that Yu Xian's words were meant for her. "Mom..."
Seeing that Little Huang Quan had become somewhat dejected, Little Nora wanted to comfort her. But out of the corner of his eye, he spotted an oasis in the distance. He immediately turned toward it. "Big Bro, there's land up ahead. Is that a spatially stable region?"
Yu Xian patted Little Huang Quan's head, then turned toward the distant oasis and narrowed his eyes. "I'm not sure, but we can go take a look!"
Internally, however, he remained on high alert. That oasis did not look much like a naturally stable region of space. Instead, it resembled an artificially created miniature world. And anyone capable of creating an oasis that large within the Abyss was probably far from ordinary.
