Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven
Chapter 668: The Wrong Assumption
Far away from the White Devil settlement, a massive figure stood atop a mountain while silently observing the distant battlefield.
His body was covered in dark armor, and two pairs of crimson eyes remained fixed on the powerful presence he had sensed from afar.
This was Naraka, the Great Asura from the Chaos Realm that was trapped in the Urn from Eons.
He had been watching everything from a safe distance, and the moment Grey appeared, Naraka recognized him as the human he had encountered before the time he was released from the Urn.
However, after witnessing Grey’s transformation and sensing his current strength more clearly, Naraka’s expression gradually became more serious.
"So it’s really him..."
Naraka narrowed his eyes as he carefully examined Grey’s aura.
During their previous encounter, he had only been able to sense Grey’s strength vaguely, but now that Grey had reached the 10th Rank and opened his Inner World, his presence had become much more distinct.
More importantly, Naraka could finally make a proper comparison.
Grey’s current power was comparable to his own.
"How did he become this strong?"
Naraka couldn’t understand it.
It hadn’t been that long since their previous encounter, yet Grey had already reached a level where even he had to take the human seriously.
What irritated him even more was that Grey seemed to keep appearing wherever he went.
They had first encountered each other in the Endless Reality, and now Grey had somehow appeared in the Ancient Hell as well.
"What exactly are you?"
Naraka continued staring at the distant Grey while several questions appeared in his mind. Why had Grey come here? How had he entered the Ancient Hell? And why did he keep appearing around him?
Unfortunately, Naraka wasn’t foolish enough to remain there and investigate.
Grey’s perception had already become terrifyingly sharp, and if Naraka continued observing him from nearby, there was a chance he would eventually be discovered.
Naraka glanced toward the opposite side of the world, where the Asuras had gathered and where he intended to go.
He had no reason to remain here any longer.
"Whatever you’re planning, human..."
Naraka turned away from the battlefield.
"I’ll find out eventually."
With that, his figure disappeared into the distance as he fled the area before Grey could detect his presence.
Meanwhile, Grey suddenly turned his head toward the south.
His eyes narrowed slightly as he stared into the distance.
For a brief moment, he had sensed something.
Someone had been watching him.
Eterna, who was standing nearby, immediately noticed his sudden change in expression.
"What is it?"
Grey remained silent for a moment while his perception swept across the surrounding region, but whoever had been watching him was already gone.
"There was someone watching us."
"Someone?"
"Yeah."
Grey searched the area one more time before eventually shrugging.
"Forget it. They already ran."
Eterna nodded without asking anything further.
Grey then turned his attention back toward the White Devil King and the others.
The entire settlement was still watching him.
Some of the White Devils looked at him with awe, while others couldn’t hide the fear in their eyes. After witnessing Grey reach the 10th Rank and casually summon an army of powerful angels, none of them could continue treating him as an ordinary human.
Grey noticed their expressions and chuckled.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?"
The White Devil King hesitated before stepping forward.
"Lord Grey..."
His voice carried obvious respect.
"You truly are a god, aren’t you?"
Grey blinked before laughing.
"A god? No, I’m not a god."
The White Devil King was stunned.
If someone capable of displaying this level of power wasn’t a god, then what exactly was he?
Grey smiled at their confused expressions before casually explaining.
"My girlfriend is a god."
Everyone froze upon hearing that.
"...What?"
Grey raised one hand, and energy immediately gathered in the air before him. A beautiful figure appeared within the projection, surrounded by an aura of supreme divinity.
Grey pointed toward the image.
"That’s my girlfriend."
The White Devil King stared at the projection for several seconds before his expression changed completely.
"That appearance..."
He recognized her.
"She looks exactly like the God Empress."
Grey nodded casually.
"That’s because she is the God Empress."
The White Devil King was completely dumbfounded.
Even the surrounding White Devils struggled to process what they had just heard.
The God Empress they had worshipped and waited for throughout countless years was actually Grey’s girlfriend.
The White Devil King took a deep breath before asking the question that immediately came to mind.
"Does this mean... the Nirvanic Rebirth of the Gods has already been achieved?"
"Yeah. It happened. It’s been a Year."
The White Devil King trembled slightly.
For countless years, the White Devils had waited for that day. They had abandoned their madness, endured the corruption of Hell, and continued believing in the ancient prophecy that the gods would eventually return.
Now, the being they had been waiting for had already returned.
The White Devil King lowered his head slightly.
"Then please..." His voice became solemn. "Take us to her."
Grey raised an eyebrow. "You want to meet Lia?"
"Yes." The White Devil King nodded firmly. "We wish to become angels once again."
"Although my descendants were born as White Devils, I myself was originally one of the few true angels who served the gods. I was transformed long ago when we were cast into this place."
His expression carried a mixture of longing and determination.
"If the God Empress has truly returned, then perhaps our salvation has finally arrived."
Grey thought about it for a moment before nodding.
"Sure. I can take you there."
The White Devil King’s expression brightened, but Grey immediately raised a finger.
"There’s one condition."
The White Devil King became serious.
"What condition?"
"Whether you can actually become angels again depends entirely on Lia."
Grey shrugged.
"I can take you to her, but I can’t force her to accept you. If she doesn’t allow it, there’s nothing I can do."
The White Devil King immediately bowed his head.
"That is understandable."
He had already waited for countless years, so a little uncertainty was nothing compared to the possibility of finally regaining what they had lost.
"We accept your conditions."
Grey nodded.
"Good."
Just as the atmosphere began to settle, Seraphina suddenly stepped forward.
She looked somewhat awkward as she approached Grey.
"Grey..."
"Hm?"
She lowered her head slightly.
"I owe you an apology."
Grey looked at her curiously.
"For what?"
"I previously assumed that Eterna was your girlfriend."
Grey blinked.
"Oh."
Seraphina’s cheeks reddened slightly.
"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed something like that. Especially when the God Empress was your girlfriend."
Before Grey could respond, Eterna suddenly spoke.
