Nine Heavens Martial Emperor
Chapter 745 - 741: Wan Wushen
Chapter 745: Chapter 741: Wan Wushen
The combined might of eight Sealed Martial Realm experts was a world-destroying force that razed the Ten Thousand Poison Sect to the ground.
Other than the nine of them, not a single living creature remained.
But at this moment, an incredibly sinister voice echoed from the void. "Today, you destroyed my sect. I vow to make your deaths a hundred, a thousand times more painful than theirs."
The voice was like an Evil Demon’s curse, chilling them to the bone.
"Wan Wushen, you brought all of this upon yourself!"
Xia Yunpeng shouted into the void, simultaneously thrusting out a hand. His massive palm enveloped dozens of miles of empty space.
He had perceived Wan Wushen’s approximate location.
The preceding wave of power had been terrifying beyond measure. Wan Wushen had managed to escape, but not without injury. Xia Yunpeng’s Spiritual Sense could detect the stench of blood on him.
"Xia Yunpeng, don’t waste your effort. You’re powerless against me in the Dragon Transformation Ancient Realm." Wan Wushen’s voice drifted in again, as elusive as a phantom.
At that very moment, the hairs on Lin Hao’s arms stood on end as an intense feeling of danger washed over him.
With a furious roar, Lin Hao pushed his Blood Shifting Skill to its absolute limit and unleashed both fists into the empty air.
PUFF!
The void boomed, and Lin Hao’s body was flung backward like a limp sack.
Wan Wushen had actually managed to injure Lin Hao right under the noses of eight Sealed Martial Realm experts.
If not for his Blood Shifting Skill and formidable physique, his odds of survival would have been grim.
The other Martial Artists reacted as if facing a mortal enemy, immediately forming a protective circle around Lin Hao.
Xia Yunpeng’s expression was incredibly grim.
Wan Wushen was arrogant, but in the Dragon Transformation Ancient Realm, he certainly had the right to be.
"Still alive after that! It seems I underestimated you. I have you to thank for everything today, and I won’t forget it."
Wan Wushen was like a ghost in the void, able to see everything below, but no one could find him.
Lin Hao coughed up mouthfuls of blood, his body feeling as if it were about to shatter.
Even injured, Wan Wushen’s attack was still terrifyingly potent. For Lin Hao, who currently had no cultivation, surviving it was an incredible feat.
However, Lin Hao didn’t think so.
Taking a deep breath, Lin Hao closed his eyes.
After a few breaths, Lin Hao’s eyes suddenly snapped open.
At that same instant, Xia Yunpeng, Lao Xuexin, and Xi Chenghua attacked simultaneously, blasting a specific spot in the void.
In that area, phantoms of Evil Demons appeared one after another.
But with all three attacking at once, the Evil Demon phantoms were utterly annihilated, and the fabric of space itself was torn asunder.
SPURT!
A cloud of blood mist appeared in the void.
The faces of Xia Yunpeng and the other two lit up with joy, and they poured even more power into their attacks. However, this time, their assault only caused the void to collapse; no more blood mist appeared.
"He escaped."
Lin Hao said with a soft sigh.
’This Wan Wushen is a truly formidable character,’ he thought, ’absolutely the most tenacious opponent I’ve ever faced.’
Xia Yunpeng and the other two snapped back to their senses, staring at Lin Hao with eyes full of shock.
Their recent attack had been guided by a prompt from Lin Hao’s Spiritual Sense, which was the only reason it had succeeded.
They hadn’t been able to discern Wan Wushen’s hiding spot, yet he couldn’t escape Lin Hao’s senses. The fact that Lin Hao had used their hands to exact revenge for the earlier strike astounded them.
They had long heard of Lin Hao’s name but hadn’t paid it much mind. In the short time they’d spent with him, however, Lin Hao had already proven his capabilities.
"Benefactor, I, Xia Yunpeng, will never forget the debt I owe you for as long as I live. Whatever you command, I will go through hell and high water to accomplish it."
As he spoke, Xia Yunpeng cupped his fist and knelt on one knee.
He had yet to repay Lin Hao for saving his life.
The others did likewise.
If Lin Hao hadn’t appeared, they would have been enslaved by the Ten Thousand Poison Sect. Any member could have ordered them about, beaten and cursed them as they pleased, trampling their dignity at will.
Now Lin Hao had rescued them. This was a tremendous debt of gratitude.
"There’s no need for this. It was nothing, really."
Lin Hao shook his head, not seeking any reward.
’In truth, I only saved them to pass through the Ten Thousand Poison Sect’s territory. Now that the sect is gone, I have no other requests of them.’
This was no strategic ploy; he genuinely meant it.
At his words, the eight Sealed Martial Realm experts were all stunned.
As far as they were concerned, the Ten Thousand Poison Sect was a deathtrap. For Lin Hao to charge in alone to rescue them, he must have had an ulterior motive. His current words, however, left them astonished.
But then, a look of sudden understanding dawned on one of the Martial Artists’ faces.
’This is just a strategic ploy on his part.’
"Young Master Lin, are you hoping we’ll escort you to the Heaven-Stepping Sect? While it’s true you saved our lives, the Dragon Transformation Ancient Realm is far too perilous. Sect Leader," the Martial Artist said, turning to Xia Yunpeng, "I believe waiting for Young Master Lin’s cultivation to recover before we depart is sufficient to repay our debt."
Having reached the Sealed Martial Realm, they would never willingly submit to another unless they were completely powerless.
Now that their cultivation was restored, the thought of Lin Hao’s presumed goal irked them.
That was why he had spoken his mind so bluntly, right in front of Lin Hao.
"If Young Master Lin hadn’t acted, would you have had any chance to escape?" Xia Yunpeng asked the Martial Artist, his face expressionless.
The Martial Artist’s expression faltered. "No, but..."
"No buts! If you think you shouldn’t stay, you are free to leave now. If any of the rest of you feel the same way, then please, be on your way." Xia Yunpeng’s expression was terrifyingly cold.
The men exchanged glances, but no one moved.
"I know what you’re thinking. Do you all believe I braved the dangers of the Ten Thousand Poison Sect to save you for some ulterior motive?" Lin Hao finally spoke.
’I saw this coming.’
No one answered.
"Actually, you’re not wrong. There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world. I did have a motive. I wanted to borrow your strength to open a path out of the Ten Thousand Poison Sect’s territory. Now that my goal has been achieved, you can all leave."
"Sect Leader, you heard him! He only saved us to use us. If we wait for his cultivation to recover before leaving, we will have more than fulfilled our obligation," the same Martial Artist who had spoken earlier piped up again.
Xia Yunpeng stared at Lin Hao, wanting to speak but holding his tongue.
’As a Sect Leader, he was naturally unwilling to submit to another, but his principles put him in a difficult position.’
Lin Hao smiled faintly. "Then allow me to be presumptuous. As payment for your rescue, you will protect me until my cultivation is restored. Afterward, you may leave as you please."
"Young Master Lin, don’t you think you should add a time limit?" another Martial Artist piped up.
The Dragon Transformation Ancient Realm had been open for more than three months, and Lin Hao was still lingering in the outer regions. If they had to wait for several more months, that would be a major problem.
"You!" Xia Yunpeng snapped.
Lin Hao chuckled internally.
’A classic case of good cop, bad cop.’
"It won’t take long. No more than ten days," Lin Hao said, feigning ignorance as he set the time limit.
’I already have experience reconnecting my meridians. As long as I have a completely safe environment, a full recovery won’t be difficult at all.’
’These people are all disgruntled right now; otherwise, I wouldn’t even need this long.’
"It’s a deal!" Many of the Martial Artists’ faces lit up with joy upon hearing it would only be ten days.
