Nine Heavens Martial Emperor
Chapter 777 - 773: Killing Intent at the Banquet
Chapter 777: Chapter 773: Killing Intent at the Banquet
In the Kan Long Royal Court, Lin Hao enjoyed a massage for hours, so comfortable that he fell fast asleep.
A truly deep sleep, with no pretense whatsoever.
The stunning handmaidens chosen to serve Lin Hao were clearly no ordinary servants. Seeing him fast asleep, an unusual glint appeared in their eyes.
To walk into a dragon’s den alone with such calm composure was something even ancient masters a thousand years old couldn’t achieve.
Lin Hao’s audacity and domineering presence were something they would not forget for a long time.
Lin Hao slept straight through until nightfall. When he awoke, a voice sounded from outside. Clearly, someone had been waiting for quite some time.
"Young Master Lin, His Highness has prepared a banquet in your honor and sent me to invite you."
The voice from outside was exceedingly respectful.
Lin Hao grunted in acknowledgment and, attended by the stunning handmaidens, leisurely washed up.
The person outside could even hear the sound of Lin Hao’s playful teasing.
The man waited a full quarter of an hour before Lin Hao finally emerged.
His escort was a squad of Guards. Despite their best efforts to conceal it, a palpable killing intent emanated from them.
Their leader, in particular, was at the Sealed Martial Realm Fifth Layer.
The Kan Long Royal Court was full of hidden masters.
Lin Hao exchanged no words with them. About ten minutes later, the squad of Guards halted, and their leader gestured for Lin Hao to proceed.
Before him was an immense plaza suspended in the void, so vast and boundless that its edges were lost to sight.
Giant pillars of Crystal Stone illuminated the plaza from above, and in the distance stood countless celestial steles.
If seen in daylight, one would surely mistake it for a mirage, for such a place simply should not exist in this world.
Lin Hao crossed the void, landing upon the enormous plaza.
On the plaza were long tables of jade, laden with countless fine wines and fresh fruits.
Behind the jade tables sat many Martial Artists. Some were clad in armor, their bodies radiating a thick killing intent. Others looked like scholars, but their eyes flashed like lightning as they opened and closed. Still others resembled wild barbarians, their auras terrifying.
As Lin Hao landed, the Kan Long Crown Prince rose from the seat of honor, but before he could speak, someone had already lashed out at Lin Hao.
It was a giant of a man, eight feet tall, wearing nothing but a beast-hide kilt and carrying a massive battle axe.
"His Highness throws a banquet, and you dare to saunter in late? I’ll chop you to pieces!" The giant’s voice thundered, and the force of his words alone caused the nearby wine and fruit to explode.
"Ju Hu, stand down! Brother Lin is my honored guest," the Kan Long Crown Prince chided.
But the giant, Ju Hu, paid him no heed. "Your Highness, allow me to take his head first, and I will apologize to you after! I cannot tolerate such arrogance."
Ignoring the command, the battle axe in Ju Hu’s hand suddenly swelled to an immense size as he swung it down at Lin Hao.
The weapon transformed into a divine, heaven-cleaving axe that seemed capable of splitting the world in two.
Before this divine axe, Lin Hao’s body looked utterly minuscule.
But in the face of this strike, Lin Hao simply reached out to grab the divine axe.
The power of his Martial Realm flowed around him.
Seeing Lin Hao’s move, many in the crowd sneered.
Although Ju Hu was at the Sealed Martial Realm Sixth Layer, his battle axe was imbued with a powerful martial technique. If an opponent used the power of their Martial Realm against it, the axe’s attack would not be suppressed; instead, its power would surge.
’Lin Hao is courting death,’ they thought.
Sure enough, as soon as Lin Hao’s Martial Realm power emerged, profound runes materialized on the battle axe.
Lin Hao felt as if a spatial gate had opened within the axe, absorbing the power of his Martial Realm and instantly converting it into its own, making its divine might immeasurable.
This was completely unexpected.
But though surprised, Lin Hao remained composed. His hands swirled through the air before he suddenly threw a punch, smashing it toward the battle axe.
The next moment, Lin Hao’s fist and the battle axe collided.
A barrier materialized in the air above the plaza, containing the entire impact of the collision.
Lin Hao’s focus sharpened.
’The strike of a Sealed Martial Realm expert is terrifyingly powerful,’ he thought. ’For this mysterious plaza to have a barrier capable of containing that energy is truly shocking.’
Outside the barrier, the others were even more horrified.
For Lin Hao to block a battle axe with his bare flesh and emerge completely unscathed was simply beyond human capability.
Even the Kan Long Crown Prince’s eyes narrowed.
’Although I had long known how formidable Lin Hao’s physical body was, to witness it firsthand is still profoundly shocking,’ he thought.
But the one most stunned of all was Ju Hu himself.
He could never have imagined that Lin Hao could block his battle axe with his bare flesh. It was the first time this had ever happened since he had perfected his axe technique.
But he remembered his mission. After a moment of shock, he moved his battle axe once more.
Lin Hao repeated his earlier actions.
His hands swirled through the air, then he punched straight out.
This time, the battle axe flew right out of Ju Hu’s hands, and Lin Hao snatched it from the air.
The power contained in Lin Hao’s grasp was terrifying.
’That swirl is the epitome of softness, deflecting a portion of the force. That punch is the epitome of hardness, all its power exploding from the fist. It’s less a fist and more a peerless weapon of war!’
The Kan Long Crown Prince’s eyes narrowed as the thought crossed his mind.
He understood the principle behind Lin Hao’s strike.
Just then, Lin Hao, now holding the battle axe, swung it.
Ju Hu roared and turned tail to flee.
He was locked in place by Lin Hao’s aura, and an intense, overwhelming sense of mortal danger washed over him.
But it was too late.
An unparalleled flash of light streaked past. His body was cleaved in two, and he fell dead on the spot, his body and spirit utterly annihilated.
The plaza fell deathly silent.
A Martial Artist at the Sealed Martial Realm Sixth Layer, wielding a supreme martial technique, had been slain in just two or three exchanges. It was a shocking sight.
Even Young Master Kan Long was stunned.
’I saw him get injured with my own eyes,’ he thought. ’His wounds weren’t fatal, but they were by no means light. It’s only been a few hours, yet he seems to have completely recovered his strength.’
"Sigh, I haven’t even eaten yet, and all this fine wine and food has been ruined."
At that moment, Lin Hao’s voice rang out, as if nothing at all had happened.
Before anyone could respond, Lin Hao spoke again. "Your Highness is being a bit too stingy. You captured a Zhu Jian this afternoon, so how come it’s not being served?"
"Insolence! Do you not recognize your station? Are all Martial Artists from the Celestial Yang Continent as ill-mannered as you?" an armored warrior stood up, his voice as sharp as a sword’s edge.
Lin Hao’s eyes narrowed. "And who the hell are you? Do you have any right to speak here?"
"You’re courting death!"
The armored warrior spat out two words and attacked Lin Hao directly.
With a flick of his wrist, a long spear materialized out of thin air.
The spear, condensed from True Essence, shifted from illusory to solid, its cold light glinting.
The spear streaked through the air like a rainbow, aiming for Lin Hao’s head with unimaginable speed.
Lin Hao once again used the power of his Martial Realm, reaching out to grab the long spear.
However, before Lin Hao’s power could lock it down, the long spear transformed into a Spiritual Snake, evading his grasp and striking for his head once more.
The spear’s movements were cunning and unpredictable.
Without even looking, Lin Hao chopped out with the side of his hand.
The long spear froze in place before being sliced in two.
At the same time, without a moment’s hesitation, Lin Hao took a sudden step forward.
The step was impossibly fast, bringing him right before the armored warrior. Simultaneously, Lin Hao struck down with his palm.
A palm strike from Lin Hao was terrifyingly powerful. Normally, a direct hit would cause the armored warrior to explode into dust.
However, when Lin Hao’s palm landed on the armor, the result was something he had not expected at all.
