- Chapter 320. Trial of blood - 6

Thunder rumbled above the skies of the Holy Sun Empire.
William looked at the sky and felt strangely numb, as if his heart were beating only because something was forcing it to. It was weird, as if there was something he could not point his finger on.
[Brace yourself, host.]
Orion’s voice sounded in his ears. William heard it, but his mind did not react much to the warning.
Suddenly, a heavy pressure descended from the sky. The black clouds parted, and golden light burst through. A man descended from above. He had golden hair, golden eyes, and a completely pale white complexion. He wore intricate golden clothes, and his presence felt like that of a god.
William immediately noticed the difference between this man’s aura and the one he had felt from Xythia. Xythia was far superior, but even this man’s aura was overwhelming.
Looking at Winston’s expressions, Will knew this guy was Lux, the self-proclaimed god.
“Orion, send my mother and Tamasya into the Domain of the Infinite.”
[Understood.]
[Ding!! Your will was rejected.]
“I don’t care. Override their will.”
[I can’t, host. The Supreme System requires SP to do that, and you have zero SP at the moment.]
William frowned. “Is there any instant solution in the shop that can counter him without anyone getting harmed?”
[The fastest option is to summon a god, but the summoning will take time and resources. You have already made a deal with Velma. I have notified Sunchaser, and he is on his way to her, but it will still take a few minutes for Velma to descend.]
“I can’t risk their lives,” William said. “Use the free purchase to send them inside. In fact, send the whole city inside the realm. Create a separate space isolated from my house and put every single person in there until the danger is gone.”
[Understood. The free purchase has been utilized…]
In an instant, right in front of Lux, who already had a triumphant smirk on his face, the entire capital city disappeared; the whole land was swallowed, even the buildings, the palaces, and the imperial palace.
What was left behind was plain brown land that looked deserted and barren.
A few seconds earlier…
Annasthasia’s hands trembled as she saw her husband’s killer standing in front of her. Her bloodlust and killing intent rose to their peak. She prepared to attack Lux even though she knew she would die, but she had already lost control over herself.
Tamasya frowned as Shadow’s alarmed voice sounded in her mind, warning her to retreat because her strength was not enough.
Marcus, Andrea, Yun Long, Samantha, and Klaus all felt that this was the end for them. Unlike Tamasya and Annasthasia, who had experienced Xythia’s pressure, they had never faced a god-like being before.
Even so, they did not step back. They held their weapons and prepared their spells and were prepared to fight.
All of them were breathing heavily. Sweat covered their faces as they prepared their strongest weapons and spells.
“Hmph, ants,” Lux said. His voice alone caused them intense pain in their heads.
Lux raised his hand and formed an orb of light, but before he could release it, something felt wrong.
Suddenly, the space became empty. Everyone had disappeared; the whole city had mysteriously disappeared out of the blue. He could sense only two lives remaining—Winston and William.
Winston bowed respectfully, while William floated at the same level as Lux, looking directly at him.
William truly wished he could have entered the Domain of the Infinite as well, but if he had done that, there was no guarantee that Lux would spare the rest of the continent.
Narcissistic people like Lux often caused meaningless destruction when their egos were hurt. William only needed to hold on for five minutes until Velma arrived.
Lux became angry as he realized he had been deceived. Maintaining this form required sacrifices.
The first thing he had done after arriving in this place was kill several people in the city. Those sacrifices gave him the power to sustain his form.
Lux frowned as he looked at William. “Mortal, bring everyone back here. Otherwise…”
“Otherwise what?” William interrupted. “Will you pretend to act like a god and try to deliver divine justice?”
He had no intention of listening to Lux’s nonsense.
If he had not been weak, William would never have tolerated this man.
Before Lux could respond, another voice roared, “LUX!!!”
The clouds above changed shape and formed a humanoid projection. Violet eyes shone with a dangerous light.
“You have crossed all limits. Go back at once if you do not want to regret this.”
The voice was filled with anger, and violet thunder spread across the sky.
William looked up. “The heavens,” he said.
Lux looked at the man above and sneered, “Tsk, watch your tone, you filthy peasant. You are only a gatekeeper of this filthy realm. Your status is not even enough to serve me,” Lux replied.
“Lux!!” Thunder roared violently as the heavens grew even more furious.
The cloud projection rushed toward Lux at an impossible speed. Lux only chuckled. “Today, I have brought the perfect solution for you.”
“Every fucking time you interfere in my matters, did you think I would come unprepared?”
As he spoke, Lux took out a piece of maroon jade and flicked it, activating it.
“Boom!!”
An energy barrier suddenly spread out and covered the entire Aris continent.
The heavens struck the barrier with lightning, but no matter what, it did not break.
William watched as the heavens struggled to descend or stop Lux, and his expression became serious. If even the heavens were struggling, then what could he do?
Lux looked back at William with a sinister expression, then shifted his gaze toward Winston.
He turned back to William and chuckled. “At first, I thought you had almost tricked me, but now that the gatekeeper has been restrained, I can enjoy myself,” he said, licking his lips.
His body moved as he descended toward Winston, who stood there in shock. Winston’s face became grim as he saw Lux’s smile.
“Nooo!!!” Winston screamed.
But suddenly, the scream stopped. His face went blank for a moment.
Two breaths later his expression turned twisted and maniacal. Lux had taken control of Winston’s body. He laughed loudly while holding the divine sword.
“HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!” Lux laughed as he looked at William. “Like father, like son. Both of you will be crushed like ants.”
William’s attention shifted as a voice spoke in his mind. It was the heavens.
“I hope you can hold him until I break the barrier.”
“To help you, I will temporarily grant you control over heavenly thunder. It will increase your speed, reaction time, and durability. Just do not get hit by that sword, and focus on dodging.”
William nodded as he looked at Lux.
He would be lying if he said he was not nervous, but he would not let this bitch win at any cost.
“How much time until Velma descends?” William asked.
“My lord, she says three minutes to descend and one more minute to break the barrier over the continent,” Sunchaser replied in his mind.
William nodded.
Four minutes. He needed to survive for four minutes.
He clenched his hand, and heavenly thunder began to flicker around his body.
Swoosh.
Just then he immediately dodged Lux’s sword as it appeared beside him out of nowhere.
Void Sovereignty Spell.
Sixth Form: Spatial Domain.
In an instant, a domain expanded from William’s position. It almost captured Lux, but Lux disappeared from its range just in time.
He frowned before speaking. “A mortal should not use spells meant for gods. Today, I will make you regret overestimating yourself.”
William grimaced. Half of his mana was already depleted from using this spell. He was at absolute godhood stage, for god’s sake.
Even though the domain failed to trap Lux, it would still help him survive.
Lux formed a thunderbolt in his hand and threw it at William at high speed. But as soon as it entered William’s spatial domain, a portal appeared and redirected the attack back at Lux.
Even the gatekeeper was surprised by this technique.
After the first, several projectiles were thrown at William, but nothing passed through in the domain.
William did not wait anymore. He took out Crimson Aeon and used Origin Severance with the force of full sovereign sword intent behind it. He also reduced the time it took for the sword slash to reach Lux within the spatial domain.
Even then, the attack was insignificant.
“Orion, what about Trickster’s Veil?”
[It’s Useless.]
William did not even have time to curse Orion. Lux had already appeared near to him.
But something was wrong.
“What is he doing?” William saw Lux appear a few feet away and suddenly clench his fist.
At that moment, William’s spatial domain collapsed.
