Absolute Beast Dominion - Chapter 445: Durable Body

Chapter 445: Durable Body
A Mythical soul, which was ranked 7, granted him a 70% boost in all techniques. So the moment he channelled a technique through the Mythical soul, the original 40% could directly shoot up to 70%, catching the enemy completely by surprise.
But the soul part would come only after he had learned a soul technique. Thus, Gunther chose to teach him [Spiritual Sense] as the first technique, which was considered easier compared to others, because it was technically a form of sense. A person already perceived many things through the 5 senses, so there was naturally some experience in that department.
Spiritual Sense was an extension of one’s spiritual boundary, which imposed itself upon the outer environment and sent information about it directly to one’s being, allowing it to be sensed without relying on the body’s fundamental sensory organs.
It became easier to learn when the natural senses were artificially blocked, and one tried to sense through sheer effort. At that time, the person subconsciously attempted to impose their spiritual boundary onto the outer environment.
And it was for that reason that Gunther made Leo sit beneath the waterfall torrent. The freezing water would numb his body, the deafening roar of the torrent would drown out other sounds, his eyes would remain closed, and naturally, no taste or smell would reach him.
Plus, the continuous pressure crashing over his head and body would prompt his body to look for ways to escape. But since Leo would not allow himself to move, the mind would instead try to escape, and that instinctive escape would prompt the spiritual boundary to automatically impose itself upon the environment in search of a path, since Leo’s other senses were blocked.
But for that, appropriate pressure was required. Not strong enough to cause injury, and not weak enough to be ineffective. For that, Gunther needed to know Leo’s body durability.
“Is that another beast trait?” Gunther had asked when he saw the bark-like texture spreading over Leo’s skin, similar to Niri’s after he hit him squarely over the chest.
Leo already had Niri’s [Tough Body] trait unlocked to 90%, which, when activated through his will, made his body extremely durable, with a bark-like texture covering his skin. And even while his body was only at a High 4-star level, his durability had already reached Peak 4-star.
“Don’t worry, you don’t need to say it. I know information about talents is precious, and I won’t reveal it to anyone. It’s for my personal research purposes, and we already had a deal—I teach you soul techniques and other things, and in exchange, you let me observe you and your progress.”
Gunther spoke before suddenly appearing in front of Leo and driving a palm strike into his abdomen, sending him crashing backwards. Leo spat out blood this time as he rolled across the ground to stop himself.
“Hm, just like I guessed, around Peak 4-star. Perfect, I just know the place for you.” Gunther said with a sagely smile, his hands clasped behind his back.
Though behind that smile, he completely concealed a thought.
This kid seems to have the aura of a Low 4-star individual, but his body is as durable as a Peak 4-star? No wonder General Tarun is collecting treasures of a rank far higher than what this boy should be able to consume. There really is some deep secret within him.
Thinking that, Gunther completely dropped the matter, not even attempting to think further.
If there was something capable of blocking his senses while sitting extremely far away from some mere Low 4-star being, then he had no business provoking it by dissecting Leo, whom that existence was protecting. He might get vaporised in an instant.
That day was 18th Feb, and that was how Leo found himself beneath the waterfall.
After teaching Leo the theory behind [Spiritual Sense] for an entire day, Gunther gave him half a day of free time.
“You will return here within 12 hours. Until then, eat your fill and stuff yourself as much as you can. Because after the 12th hour, even if you’re hiding somewhere, I will drag you out and throw you at the place. And until the moment you learn the technique, you won’t get to eat or drink anything… well, maybe you can still drink the cold water, but I suggest you don’t, because that would ruin your concentration.”
Gunther had spoken without the slightest change in expression before leaving the place. Leo was once again lying there in a battered state. Apparently, just to be sure, Gunther had tested his durability one more time.
“Damn old man, arrggghhh…” Leo groaned as he fumbled into a sitting position.
“If only I hadn’t subconsciously activated Niri’s trait during his first strike, I wouldn’t have been beaten…” he muttered. But he knew that if Gunther hadn’t known about the trait, he wouldn’t have received proper training suited to his level.
“Fuck, when Shyra’s [Obsidian Hide] unlocks, I’ll get beaten even more…” he muttered before walking towards the cafeteria to eat until he was full. But—
“Bleehhh…”
Leo vomited out all the food the moment Gunther struck him in the stomach.
“People only sleep well after a full stomach,” Gunther said with a scoff as he pointed towards the stone platform beneath the towering waterfall, where the mere sound of the crashing torrent was enough to send chills through any 3-star being.
“That’s your home for the next few days, weeks, or months until you learn [Spiritual Sense]. I hope you didn’t forget the theory from yesterday.”
Gunther sounded completely certain that Leo remembered every bit of the theory, even though he had taught it only once.
That was the benefit of higher intelligence. A single class lasting nearly an entire day was more than enough and bearable for Leo to absorb all the theory, allowing him to move directly to practical training the very next day.
As Leo walked towards the platform, a thought crossed his mind, and it became reality the moment he placed his hand beneath the torrent.
Riiip!
The fabric tore apart instantly.
Flick!
Gunther flicked his fingers, and a protective barrier formed around Leo’s pants.
“This will preserve your dignity. Now sit and begin your training,” he said.
Leo nodded and sat cross-legged. And just like that, nearly 12 days passed with him remaining there the entire time without food or water.
As a High 4-star being, Leo could survive without basic necessities for days, but after a certain point, continuous starvation would eventually cause his body to weaken and even lower his star-rank, but of course, it wouldn’t take that much time.
“Oh, you finally learned it?”
The moment Leo opened his eyes, Gunther had already arrived.
Through the curtain of water blurring his vision, Leo could barely make out the faint silhouette of the light green-haired old man, and he grimaced.
Fuck, now he scares me just like that one high-school PE teacher.
Gunther’s attitude almost made him recall the stupid memories of the boarding school meant for orphans. Especially the PE teacher, who was basically a premature version of a drill sergeant tasked with preparing students for the army, which naturally included harsh routines and brutal training meant to “harden the soul.”
