A/N: There was a mistake in the previous Chapters; Leo’s soul is Super Rare, so that boost will be 40%, not 30%. It has been corrected.

Chapter 446: Sunborn Empire, Compulsory Mission and Fused Talents
As Leo walked out of the water curtain, he felt a huge burden lift off his body, and his muscles stretched after being locked in the same position for 12 days, giving him a strangely relaxing feeling.
His body shone from head to toe from the water still clinging to him, but he wasn’t looking particularly handsome with his wet hair dropping over his forehead and sticking tightly to his ears and half of the face. Leo knew that and immediately used Thermal Pulse to evaporate the moisture.
But since Leo had been like that for almost 12 days straight, his hair didn’t fall back to normal and instead remained in that stupid nerdy look.
As if Leo’s appearance did not matter to Gunther in the slightest, he immediately spoke his next words.
“Go there without turning around and keep looking towards me,” Gunther said, pointing towards a large bark tree in the distance.
Leo immediately complied and walked there, all the while keeping his eyes fixed on Gunther. If Gunther hadn’t specifically told him to look at him, that stare alone would’ve sent a shiver down the spine of anyone ranked lower than Leo.
“Now, there is a beast beneath and behind the tree you’re standing before. Try to sense it with your newly learned technique and guess its correct size and rank. If you succeed, you’ll get a period of rest. Otherwise, you’ll continue staying under the waterfall.”
Leo gritted his teeth; he could not afford to train any longer.
Eerghhh, it’s been 15 days straight without my mommy’s heavenly touch! Leo grimaced internally before quickly straightening himself and closing his eyes.
He focused on his inner spiritual space and tried to impose it onto his surroundings. The next moment, an imperceptible bubble-like force spread out around Leo in a sphere with him at the centre. Since he had been practising it for a few days already, he could now do it rather easily.
As a matter of fact, Leo had actually managed to use Spiritual Sense after just 2 days, but since it was his body and mind doing it subconsciously, it wasn’t considered true mastery. [Spiritual Sense] was an active skill that needed to be activated willingly; activating it subconsciously did not count. Thus, the next 10 days were spent trying to consciously activate it, and today was the day he finally succeeded.
“There’s a Low 1-star lizard-like creature on the tree bark.” He said, his eyes still closed in concentration.
“Good, now tell what is beneath the ground.”
As Leo’s senses penetrated through the ground, his concentration became harder and harder to maintain.
[Spiritual Sense] – Low 1% -> 2%
The mastery was still so low that the distance he could sense only formed a sphere of 2 meters around him when he activated the technique, but since he found nothing within that range, he needed to expand it further.
In the distance, Gunther stroked his pale green beard as he watched Leo use the technique.
Marvelous! he exclaimed inwardly.
Not only did he subconsciously use [Spiritual Sense] within 2 days, but he also managed to consciously activate it within just 12 days? He is a real prodigy! His capabilities even surpass—No. Surpass is a very undermining word; there is a gap of heaven and earth between him and the other students considered ’prodigies’. Even the Imperial Prince and Princess pale in comparison to him.
Gunther was internally left flabbergasted. What Leo achieved in 2 days was something a genius would normally take 1 or 2 months to accomplish. Originally, Gunther’s plan was merely to help Leo subconsciously activate [Spiritual Sense] before the inter-academy competition arrived at his doorstep.
Gunther had even considered cancelling Leo’s compulsory out-of-academy mission because of this, but Leo’s progress shattered all his plans.
He had done it in 2 days.
Not to mention, Sister Katherine said his girl is equally, if not even less, capable than him. Both are real monsters. They might even rival the geniuses of the Sunborn Territory—er… Empire now, I suppose.
Even his thoughts eventually drifted to one point: what kind of monster would their child—or maybe children—be?
There is a proven theory stating that if a child is born from a soulmate pair, the child is said to inherit the base capabilities of either parent, or in rare cases, a combination of both. And when such a combination occurs, there are two possibilities: either the soul rank comes out as a combination of soul ranks of the parents, or the talent becomes a fused talent containing selectively synergised abilities from both the mother and father.
Generally, established families prefer talent combinations because souls can be enhanced through treasures in a much easier manner, and not to mention, either of the parents themselves is a high-ranked soul holder.
But even among combinations, there exists another, rarer possibility. That is when both the soul and talent aspects combine into one. Even rarer is the inheritance of the complete set of abilities from both mother and father, even if they overlap. In such cases, the child may possess 2 or even 3 talents. If it is 3, then the third one is the child’s own innate talent aside from the inherited parental talents.
And as always, there exists yet another rare possibility—a completely new talent being born because all 3 talents fused together, creating an utterly broken talent that defies the very laws of the world. This could only happen if both parents possessed broken talents, and the child also awakened a similarly broken talent of their own.
Though the last part has never been confirmed, it is said to be true. To achieve something like this, the parents must possess an extremely high soul bond. Thus, the child receiving such a talent is considered a gift from the world itself, a form of appreciation for the bond the parents managed to achieve.
As Gunther observed Leo, he couldn’t help but wonder.
Exactly what is pushing this boy so much? What kind of goal had he set for himself?
On the other hand, Leo once again shook away his thoughts of Lily mid-concentration and expanded his spiritual boundary farther.
10 meters, 15 meters, 20 meters.
[Spiritual Sense] – Low 2% -> 3%
As Leo tried reaching deeper underground, the terrain became increasingly difficult for his senses to penetrate, but he still pushed himself further.
Gunther was once again baffled.
He actually reached it?
Gunther had only said that to look cool and to let Leo know his limits, because even if Leo learned the skill, the beast was actually hibernating extremely deep underground. For a beginner, sensing it should’ve been almost impossible.
Even Leo wouldn’t have managed to search this deeply if not for the scientific knowledge from his previous world regarding rock structures and sensing technologies like Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR), sonar, and other detection systems.
He went deeper and deeper.
Until finally—
“Found it!” Leo exclaimed with his eyes still closed, remaining focused as he tried to determine its size and rank.
But—
“Eh? 12 meters…? No wait… 18?!” Leo blurted out when he realised there was even a tail.
Grumble!
Suddenly, the ground shook violently.
“Oh… I think I forgot to mention this, but that beast can tell whenever somebody weak tries sensing it,” Gunther said as if it were the most natural thing in the world to forget.
And in the very next moment, he ditched Leo and disappeared.
