Absolute Beast Dominion - Chapter 449: Corroding Poison

Chapter 449: Corroding Poison
A concentrated purple-coloured mist spiralled outward through Leo’s palm, screaming corrosion from the mere sight of it.
As it headed for the crocodile below, a new surge of energy filled the beast’s legs, and it dashed forward, barely dodging the initial spray of poison breath. Though it couldn’t travel far since the battered tail was too painful to move. It could only watch in dread as a nearby tree was touched by the breath, the bark rapidly turning purple and black as its vitality was sucked away at a terrifying rate.
But its dread was not Leo’s problem as he simply directed the breath towards the Crocodrake’s body, and soon enough, it was bathing in the poison mist.
Its own poison merely burned and numbed other beings; the corrosion poison ate away at one’s very existence. A far more lethal poison than its own, and added to the fact that the Poison Breath rank was High 4-star, a whole minor rank above its own, it was super effective against it.
KRRRROOOAAAGHHHH!
A guttural scream erupted from its maw as its upper body came into contact with the poison mist. The only saving grace was that its softer, more vulnerable lower body remained submerged in the swamp. But even that did little, because soon enough, its tough armour began to crack and blacken in various places.
A Hydra attack, even at the same level as the Crocodrake in bloodline and rank, would be vastly superior because the Hydra was simply a better dragon. It was like comparing a strong man born into a commoner’s family and a strong man born into a noble family; obviously, the noble would still be superior in position and utility.
Wait… now that I think of it, I can use this beast’s core to enhance Pryde’s bloodline. Leo suddenly realised that both the Hydra and Crocodrake belonged to the dragon bloodline and even possessed similar skill sets, with the Crocodrake’s soil affinity having the Earth element as an extra attribute.
“Nice, this seals your fate!” Leo said enthusiastically, leaving no room for the beast’s survival.
Realising its end was near, the beast used the last of its strength to lunge at Leo, who was mid-fall towards a tree branch.
Splat! Splat!
“Oh shit!” Leo cursed because he didn’t even have time to use wind and throw himself out of its path before the beast was directly in front of him, its maw wide open to devour him whole. Not to mention, its mouth was so huge that it could fit 2 Leos at once.
Tham! GRRRAAAAHHH!
Leo directly grabbed the upper and lower jaws with both hands and prevented the maw from crushing him whole. But it also meant he was dragged away mid-fall and plunged straight into the poisonous swamp below. Plus, the saliva of the screaming beast was drenching him. giving a disgusted feeling along with the poison burn.
Sziiizzlee!
At once, a burning sensation spread across his entire body as the poison started taking effect. His Healing trait activated instantly, and on top of that, he continuously spammed [Nature’s Heal] while still holding the maw apart. Leo had somehow repositioned himself so that his legs blocked the lower jaw while both hands held the upper one.
But the beast was simply so big that even with its maw spread 2 meters apart, the jaws didn’t snap.
The Crocodrake suddenly felt it had a chance to win and intensified the force on its maw to crush Leo.
Leo also realised that the beast was digging into the ground and dragging him much deeper underground. He tried using Howl’s [Earth Manipulation] to stop the digging, but since Howl was still at the 3-star Realm, the power output was lower compared to the Mid 4-star Earth Manipulation of the Crocodrake.
But Leo also knew one thing: he would win no matter what. Because apparently, even with the beast’s crushing jaw pressure weighing down on him, Leo could still prevent the maw from closing. And it was all because of a single Minor Realm difference. But it wouldn’t last long because his hands would eventually tire out, so he needed to think fast.
A yellow aura engulfed his entire body to slow the swamp poison acting on his skin as he prepared to make his move. But then he suddenly had a wild idea.
Isn’t Poison Breath a breath? Why the fuck am I trying to release it through my hand? Leo realised he had been copying Lily since she didn’t like spitting something foul out of her mouth and instead used her hand to make it look slightly better.
But there was no such restriction on him.
And so, he concentrated the attack into his mouth as he opened it wide, though along the way, he swallowed some dirt because they were underground. But it wasn’t much of a problem since the path to the crocodile’s interior was directly in front of him.
Outside, Gunther was still present, though he remained a kilometre high in the sky and hidden in stealth so as not to disturb Leo.
“He has great fighting instincts and tactics, but I guess he lacks experience against massive beasts.” Then his eyes sharpened.
“And as expected, he has far greater strength than a Low 4-star.” he muttered, preparing to depart, certain that Leo would soon be transported back to the temple.
“A few setbacks are necessa–”
Thud! Thud!
Just as he was about to teleport away, Gunther was cut midsentance. He heard 2 dull thuds from beneath the ground.
“Don’t tell me…” Gunther was momentarily stunned because the next moment, Leo burst out of the ground and immediately climbed onto a tree branch before using water to rinse his mouth, followed by washing the dirt off his body.
Ding!
Dreadmaw Crocodrake (Mid 4-star) killed – 70,000 XP
Level 28: 36,150 / 120,500 -> 106,150 / 120,500
“Cough! Cough! Khhaaak!” Leo coughed violently, trying to expel the dirt as he could still feel it stuck in his mouth and throat.
“Fuck!” he cursed, never planning to fight underground ever again.
After that, Leo repeatedly rinsed his mouth, even drinking water, only to force himself to vomit it back out by sticking his fingers into his throat.
When he finally felt comfortable, he looked back at the place where he had emerged from underground. The swamp had already refilled the hole. Thankfully, he had stored the corpse inside his spiritual space, so he wouldn’t need to trouble himself with digging again.
It was then that he looked around at the scale of the new swamp the beast had formed. Nearly 500 meters of forest around him had turned into a poisonous swamp, and even the nearby river formed because of the waterfall, which wasn’t exactly small, had been affected by the poison because he could see freshwater fish lying dead along the edges.
“Just a single beast changed the entire topography and ecosystem of an environment…” Leo muttered under his breath. Though he could also tell that with the beast dead, the swamp would disappear within a few weeks, and the poison effect within a few months. But still, altering an environment for months just because of a single skill from a Mid 4-star individual was astonishing.
“I wonder if I can do the same…” Leo muttered.
“…” Soon, he realised he had already been doing the same ever since he started living on Howl’s back.
He diverted his attention to the spatial ring provided by Gunther as a reward, which the professor had discreetly slipped onto his index finger without Leo even realising it.
