Chapter 390: Chapter 390: Lying Low for Twenty Years
Blind Prophet nodded and pulled a gray token from his chest. Its surface was covered in the marks of retired observers.
“Hold this token, and you can mobilize all the resources of No. 46 Restricted Zone.”
“But remember, Origin Devourer mentioned that Observer No. 1 has already sensed your existence through Observer No. 3’s actions. ”
“The purge against you has already begun.”
Logan took the token. It felt cool to the touch. The rune on its surface resonated weakly with the prophecy mark on his forehead.
He looked toward the gray mountains deep within No. 46 Restricted Zone, his eyes calm. “Then let them come.”
Saying that, Logan stepped into the ancient passage.
The moment his foot touched the gray rock of No. 46 Restricted Zone, the light of the ancient passage behind him dimmed.
Blind Prophet used his staff of prophecy to carve a temporary Blood Cultivation Realm on the ground. A golden rune flashed and vanished, temporarily blocking outside tracking.
Logan followed him to a flat rock in the center of the Blood Cultivation Realm and sat down cross-legged.
He held his right palm upward to check the repair status of his five-spiral DNA.
Its state appeared above his palm: five-colored light circulated slowly in 0.1-second cycles. The cracks on its surface, as thick as a pencil lead, rose and fell slightly with the flowing light.
Suddenly, his soul link grew warm. Green Vine’s voice came through the connection.
“Lord Logan, Lord Kane’s injuries are stable, but he remains in a coma.” Green Vine’s voice sounded tired.
Through Green Vine, Logan learned that although Kane’s bowl-sized chest wound had scabbed over and his golden god-blood no longer flowed, his consciousness was still deep in a coma. His combat power was stuck at 30%, with no sign of waking up soon.
Blind Prophet leaned against the rock wall nearby. Golden god-blood continued to seep from the gash in his left shoulder, pierced by a Space Rule chain.
The silver-gray Space Rule residue left by Observer No. 3 clung to the wound edges like rust, hindering healing.
He looked up at Logan and warned in a deep voice: “The Ancient Tribunal’s Purge Faction has activated the rule hunt. They can move power across restricted zones. No matter where you go, they will be able to lock onto your approximate location.”
Before he could finish, a piercing tearing sound echoed from the dome of the base.
A semi-transparent, silver-gray figure forcibly pierced through the thick rock layer and descended. Dozens of Space Rule chains swirled around him. It was the projection of Observer No. 3.
At this moment, the sharp tips on the ends of his chains glowed with a cold light, aimed straight for the pale golden prophecy mark on Logan’s forehead.
“What are you doing here?” Blind Prophet stood up abruptly, holding the remaining two-thirds of his staff of prophecy horizontally in front of Logan.
Golden prophecy rune surged from the top of the staff and crashed into the silver-gray Space Rule chains, creating a sizzling sound of rule annihilation.
Blind Prophet’s voice was as cold as ice as he warned Observer No. 3: “If you attack our candidate without cause, the Union of Retired Observers will file a collective counter-complaint with the highest council of the Ancient Tribunal, exposing evidence of your Purge Faction’s overstepping.”
Hearing this, Observer No. 3’s projection paused. His featureless face turned toward Blind Prophet.
His ethereal voice rang directly into their minds: “This is a necessary step in the observation procedure. I have not overstepped.”
Then, the projection turned toward Logan and issued an ultimatum: “Logan, you must go to six low-level restricted zones with chaotic rules within 30 days to complete rule repair tasks. You must finish the observation trial within the time limit.”
“Otherwise, it will be considered a refusal to cooperate, and the immediate elimination program will be triggered. You will be wiped out.”
Hearing this, Logan’s pupils contracted slightly. At the same time, he received a telepathic message from Blind Prophet via the mind link.
Blind Prophet told him this was a delaying tactic by the Purge Faction.
The hunt team from No. 32 Restricted Zone needed 30 days to reach the ambush point. The so-called “trial” was simply a way to wait for the team to arrive so they could attack Logan during the exercise.
Logan kept his face calm and merely nodded, replying coldly: “Fine! I will complete the tasks on time!”
Inside, however, Logan was already calculating. He had five uses of Time Anchor left.
Two of these were for original rewind permissions, and three were for setting Save Point locations. So far, he hadn’t set any Save Points across multiple timelines.
He then assessed his current combat power. Even with his 108-star Saint stage power combined with the five Rule Manifestation, his chances against an ordinary Demigod were less than ten percent. It was hopeless against someone like Observer No. 3, who was a complete Demigod-stage existence.
Observer No. 3’s projection said nothing more. Before vanishing, he left silver-gray space coordinate marks on the base floor to guide Logan toward the six repair tasks.
Blind Prophet coughed up a mouthful of golden blood. A fresh trickle of god-blood seeped from his left shoulder. “This is a trap, but at least it buys us thirty days of buffer time. You must hurry to strengthen your combat power.”
Logan nodded. He touched the prophecy mark on his forehead with his fingertips, clearly sensing the residual presence of Observer No. 3 on the other end.
It was clear that they had entered a state of mutual surveillance.
Logan wasted no time. He stood up, channeling 3% of the World’s Primordial Force to create a translucent remote projection. Following the nodes of the ancient passage, the projection shot straight to the Hall of Destruction in No. 53 Restricted Zone.
Beside him, Violet knelt on one knee. The dual purple-gold mark on her forehead flashed slightly. With the Staff of Creation and Bow of Destruction crossed in her hands, she reported on the cleanup actions from the past six hours: ” “Master, we have executed 37 infiltrators found with tattoos from the No. 47 Restricted Zone hidden inside their bodies.”
“Twelve of them were old subordinates of the Blood River, and the other 25 were remnants of Iron-Bone Grand Elder. We stripped their power using the totem banishing technique before executing them. No survivors were left.”
With that, a translucent holographic feed connected into the hall from the direction of Eternal Night City.
A soul wave from Moragas, a 48-star quasi-Demigod-stage entity, projected his voice through the link and got straight to the point: “Logan, you truly surprise me!”
“The one who surprised me is you.” Logan replied with a calm smile.
Moragas ignored the quip and spoke seriously: “Logan, Eternal Night City is willing to open its entire library of the dead. This includes all ancient rune forbidden books and insights into the Soul Rule. In exchange, we want the right to establish a branch city of Eternal Night City on the outskirts of No. 53 Restricted Zone.
“We can build a joint defense system to fend off future invasions from No. 47 Restricted Zone.”
Logan’s projection made a loose fist, quickly calculating the interests at stake.
Eternal Night City held detailed intelligence on Restricted Zones 1 through 46, plus the primordial technology of the Soul Rule. These were exactly the resources needed to fight the Ancient Tribunal.
Meanwhile, Moragas needed the strategic location of No. 53 Restricted Zone as a barrier to prevent the fallout from No. 47 Restricted Zone from reaching Eternal Night City.
Thinking this, Logan nodded and coldly accepted the alliance request: “Since we are to cooperate, show me some sincerity.”
“If you lead the elite forces of Eternal Night City to the outskirts of No. 53 Restricted Zone within 72 hours, I will agree to Kane’s request on your behalf.”
“Of course, you must bring at least three quasi-Demigod-stage Liches to serve as the combat foundation for the dual-zone defense ring.”
Hearing this, Moragas agreed without hesitation.
Violet stood up beside him, her face filled with concern: “Lord Kane is still in a coma, and No. 53 Restricted Zone lacks a Demigod-stage powerhouse to lead us.”
“If the Ancient Tribunal or No. 47 Restricted Zone attacks at the same time, our defense line risks collapsing.”
Logan turned to look at Violet and smiled: “Don’t worry. At the very least, they have chosen their side. They won’t attack us now, so we can use their power to handle the crisis in 72 hours.”
“By the way, when you return, make sure to check all of Iron-Bone’s remaining items. Look for any clues regarding the Mark of Truth.”
“That is the trace left by The Observer No. 1. It likely hides a much bigger conspiracy.”
Violet knelt to receive the order. Then she turned and left, her golden vertical pupils filled with determination.
Logan dismissed the remote projection and stood up. He channeled 5% of the World’s Primordial Force, holding the Blade of Time in his right hand to slice open a space crack. He immediately performed a short-range physical teleportation.
Silver space waves flashed by. His figure vanished from the gray rock of No. 46 Restricted Zone, and instantly reappeared at the entrance of the Hall of Destruction in No. 53 Restricted Zone.
At that moment, Violet was already waiting at the hall door. She wore dual purple-gold armor and still held the Staff of Creation and Bow of Destruction in her hands.
Seeing Logan, she knelt immediately to pay her respects and reported the repair progress of the two rule weapons: “Master, I have nurtured them with my royal blood for six hours. The cracks on their surfaces are 60% repaired, and the rule-light has recovered to 80% brightness.”
Logan nodded and followed Violet to the medical zone in the third zone. There, he checked Kane’s condition.
Logan touched Kane’s forehead with his fingertips. He could clearly feel that the Demigod-stage Destruction Rule source was still circulating steadily within him.
Even while in a coma, his drifting energy was enough to stabilize the surrounding rule fluctuations.
Logan raised his hand and summoned the Staff of Creation. A touch of emerald light was placed on Kane’s forehead, constructing a life-support loop of the Creation Rule. This ensured that Kane’s source would not leak any further, allowing his injuries to heal slowly on their own.
However, Logan had no exact answer for how long this healing process would take.
After dealing with Kane, Logan gathered three enslaved quasi-Demigod leaders to meet in the hall.
Inside the hall.
The Sky-Shattering Chieftain, Flesh Temple Lord, and Shadow Chairman knelt on one knee, respectfully waiting for Logan’s orders.
Logan looked at the three of them and asked if it was possible to reshape the geographical barrier between No. 53 Restricted Zone and Eternal Night City. Could they establish a permanent defensive outpost within 72 hours?
The Sky-Shattering Chieftain spoke up first: “Master, the wasteland between the two areas spans a thousand li. It is filled with space cracks and chaotic rule currents, making it very difficult to build a conventional defense line.”
“However, the forbidden totem migration technique of the Ancient Beast Clan can move mountains to form a natural barrier. But it requires the sacrifice of half a year’s worth of life force from 100,000 elite warriors to complete.”
