Chapter 163: Chapter 128: If He’s a Forest Ranger, I’ll Eat Shi Tou!
The next morning,
“Where are you heading to?” After packing their luggage, Chen Yuan and Yu Huan were ready to set off.
“Here, this way.” Liu Jinglan casually pointed in a direction.
“What a coincidence.” Chen Yuan laughed.
The direction Liu Jinglan was heading coincidentally aligned with the path to the Fiery Sun Wood.
“Let’s go together then.” Liu Jinglan proposed.
“Alright.” Chen Yuan nodded.
Normally, there is an unavoidable key issue when forming a team—interest distribution.
But Chen Yuan’s trip this time to the Fire State was solely for the Fiery Sun Wood; he had no interest in other Spirit Plants, although picking up some along the way would be great.
Chang Yuhuan went to Flame Mountain mainly to capture the landscape and wild Pet Beasts, with training the Water Spirit Turtle as a secondary goal.
For Liu Jinglan, it was more straightforward. He simply came for Liu Jingyi’s Contracted Pet Beast, and now only hoped to train the Red Flame Ox.
Additionally, Chen Yuan discovered one thing—compared to Qinling, the Spirit Plant resources in Flame Mountain are significantly fewer.
Probably due to the extreme environment here, which is barren, only particular Fire Type resources and Rock Type resources are available.
Most Beastmasters who come to Flame Mountain are here to train their Pet Beasts, with very few coming to search for Spirit Plants.
Liu Jingyi held onto the Fiery Flame Eagle while sitting on the Red Flame Ox’s back, the trio walking side by side, headed deep into Flame Mountain.
Fire emerging from the cracked ground became commonplace, with every step requiring extra caution.
However, they hadn’t gone far before they encountered a rather desolate-looking Beastmaster.
Upon seeing them, this person quickly spoke, “Don’t go any further.”
Liu Jinglan stopped this person and asked aloud, “Brother, what happened up ahead?”
“Alas.” The person sighed deeply, “Disaster, disaster.”
Just as he spoke, he suddenly saw the Fiery Flame Eagle in Liu Jingyi’s arms, his eyes widened as if seeing something terrifying, his face showing fear as he instinctively took half a step back.
Then, after rubbing his eyes vigorously and seeing the Fiery Flame Eagle clearly, his racing heart began to calm: “You scared me; I thought it was those two creatures.”
Liu Jinglan was puzzled and pursued, “What exactly happened?”
This person exhaled deeply, pointing to the Fiery Flame Eagle in Liu Jingyi’s arms, and rapidly explained, “There is a Fiery Flame Eagle and a Blazing Sun Carving that have gone mad, attacking every Beastmaster and Pet Beast passing by.”
“Attacks without any reason.”
“We didn’t provoke them at all.”
The Fiery Flame Eagle and the Blazing Sun Carving actually belong to the same species, but differ in gender; the former is female, the latter is male, with the male possessing a white crest formed by three feathers on its head.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yuan glanced at the Fiery Flame Eagle in Liu Jingyi’s arms, a hint of contemplation in his eyes.
Liu Jinglan’s expression gradually turned serious: “What are the strengths of these creatures?”
“Both are Tier Two.” The person replied.
Liu Jinglan nodded slightly, then looked at Chen Yuan: “The Pet Beast disturbance last night might have been caused by those two creatures.”
“Do we continue forward?”
Without hesitation, Chen Yuan said, “Of course.”
Two Tier Two Pet Beasts are still within the acceptable range.
“Good!” Liu Jinglan grinned and gave Chen Yuan a thumbs-up, “It seems we’re not ones to retreat in adversity.”
The person looked at them, sighed deeply but did not try to persuade them, simply warning: “Stay safe, run away when you encounter them.”
After saying this, he immediately set off.
Liu Jinglan watched his back, loudly shouting, “Thanks, brother.”
The person did not look back, only waved his hand.
Chen Yuan turned to Chang Yuhuan, who seemed to anticipate what he was going to say, quickly replied, “Don’t ask me, I’m sticking with you guys.”
“With you two around, I’m very reassured.”
Liu Jinglan laughed heartily, “Then let’s go.”
But not long after, Liu Jinglan quietly approached Chen Yuan, speaking softly, “I feel it’s related to that Fiery Flame Eagle we found.”
Chen Yuan nodded.
That was his suspicion—the Fiery Flame Eagle they stumbled upon might very well be the offspring of those two creatures.
With their baby missing, they went berserk, attacking passing Beastmasters and Pet Beasts recklessly.
Everything seemed too coincidental, arising questions in both their minds.
“What do you plan to do?” Chen Yuan asked.
Liu Jinglan shrugged, replying, “We didn’t intentionally abduct the Fiery Flame Eagle; we merely encountered it and offered a little food.”
“In the end, the Fiery Flame Eagle insisted on following my sister.”
Switching tones, he said seriously, “But if we encounter those two creatures, my Red Flame Ox might not be able to handle them.”
He had just become an Intermediate Beastmaster and had not contracted a second Pet Beast; facing two opponents was an uphill battle.
Chen Yuan patted his shoulder, smiling, “Don’t worry, you came over to help last night; if we encounter trouble, I’ll lend a hand.”
Hearing this, Liu Jinglan scratched his head, feeling somewhat embarrassed: “Sorry about that, I really didn’t manage to assist.”
But then he grinned, “Thank you then.”
Chen Yuan was brought to a speechless chuckle.
This personality would certainly get along well with Zhang Hao.
The four continued forward, having already reached the core area of Flame Mountain, a crimson mountain stood before them, with towering flames several meters high at the summit, extremely prominent.
Suddenly, Chang Yuhuan pointed forward, “That’s where I saw that kind of wood.”
Chen Yuan surveyed the area—where Chang Yuhuan pointed was directly below the crimson mountain.
He walked briskly, indeed seeing a short brown wood lying on the desolated ground not far away, its surface shimmering with a shallow orange flame, a wondrous sight.
