Chapter 169: Chapter 131: Has Chen Yuan Become a Superstar?
“Mom, Dad, we’re back!”
Pushing open the door, Liu Jingyi hurriedly put on her slippers and ran towards the living room.
Mr. and Mrs. Liu came over at the sound, and seeing that Liu Jingyi was unharmed, they breathed a sigh of relief. Then they saw the Fiery Flame Eagle chick in her arms and exclaimed, “Is this the Pet Beast you contracted?”
Liu Jingyi nodded emphatically, then plopped down on the sofa and pulled a photo out of her pocket, waving it at them excitedly: “Sit down, sit down, let me tell you about everything that happened these past few days.”
“It was so thrilling, so interesting!”
“And I met two new friends!”
“Look, look.” Liu Jingyi handed the photo to Mr. and Mrs. Liu.
They looked down and saw the background of the photo was the same courtyard grill place they often visited. Four figures stood in front of the dusty wall.
On the far left was Liu Jinglan, leaning against a huge Red Flame Ox, hands in his pockets, a faint smile on his face.
To the right was a young man they didn’t know. He had a delicate appearance, a tall figure, and a Flame Cloud Falcon on his shoulder and a majestic Gale Hunting Dog at his feet.
Further to the right was Liu Jingyi, holding up the Fiery Flame Eagle chick high, the dim light casting a bright smile across her face.
On the far right was the tall Chang Yuhuan, with a camera hanging around her neck, making a peace sign at the lens, with a Water Spirit Turtle at her feet.
“How does it look?” Liu Jingyi asked.
“Very nice, all very nice,” Mrs. Liu replied with a cheerful smile.
Then, Liu Jingyi told everything from the moment they went to Flame Mountain to when they left.
Mr. Liu nodded continuously, marveling, “You guys were quite lucky to meet two kind-hearted Beastmasters.”
Immediately, Mr. Liu gave Liu Jinglan a stern look, “In the future, don’t go after such risky things, bringing your sister back safely is the priority.”
“Got it~” Liu Jinglan didn’t even look up, his eyes glued to his phone.
“By the way, didn’t you invite this young man to stay at our house? It’s not right not to host him properly after he came such a long way to get here,” Mrs. Liu suddenly said.
Liu Jingyi replied, “We did invite him, but Chen Yuan said he will catch an early flight tomorrow to avoid bothering us.”
“He’s a good kid,” Mrs. Liu remarked with a sense of appreciation.
“Found it!”
At that moment, Liu Jinglan suddenly looked up, his eyes shining brightly.
“Brother, what did you find?” Liu Jingyi leaned over, trying to see.
“His details…” Liu Jingyi read softly as she looked at the information on the browser, “The Taibai Cup opening in Baokun City concluded perfectly, with Consultant Chen Yuan and Consultant Shi Gang putting on a spectacular exhibition match.”
“Consultant Chen Yuan?” Liu Jingyi looked puzzled.
Liu Jinglan mused, “A consultant is a position with the Beastmaster Association, very prestigious.”
Stars sparkled in Liu Jingyi’s eyes, “No wonder Brother Chen Yuan is so amazing; he’s quite a big deal!”
Liu Jinglan opened his mouth but didn’t say anything for a long time.
Little sis was right; no matter which city, anyone who can hold the position of consultant must be the best Beastmaster locally.
He thought he was among the top tier in Fire State but could never take on a consultant role.
And the average Beastmaster’s level in Baokun City must be higher than in Fire State.
“Brother, there’s also a video below,” sharp-eyed Liu Jingyi noticed a video link below the news report and tapped it.
A new page loaded, and a line of text appeared on the browser: “Recordings of the First Taibai Cup Exhibition Match.”
As that familiar figure slowly walked out amid the deafening cheers, Liu Jinglan unconsciously sat up straight, watching intently.
…
“The victor of this exhibition match is Consultant Chen Yuan!”
Along with the final announcement, the video ended, leaving Liu Jinglan in a prolonged silence.
Liu Jingyi, however, stared wide-eyed, her gaze sparkling with light, “Brother Chen Yuan is incredible!”
Liu Jinglan quietly nodded.
During their time at Flame Mountain, even when facing Tier Two Fiery Flame Eagle and Blazing Sun Carving, Chen Yuan seemed perfectly at ease.
Yet in this match recording against Consultant Shi Gang, Chen Yuan demonstrated terrifying dominance.
Try to imagine, if he replaced Consultant Shi Gang, how long could he last?
Three minutes?
Two minutes?
Or even just one minute?
Thinking this way made Liu Jinglan’s scalp tingle, deeply realizing Chen Yuan’s formidable strength.
Seeing Liu Jinglan’s reaction, Liu Jingyi teased, “Brother, are you still going to challenge Brother Chen Yuan next time?”
“Of course,” Liu Jinglan slightly tilted his head back onto the sofa, “Whether or not I can win, it’s a great pleasure to battle with a strong Beastmaster.”
“After all, my goal has never been to surpass stronger Beastmasters, but to continuously make myself stronger.”
“As long as I keep improving and getting stronger, why should I feel inferior because of others’ strengths?”
He suddenly turned to Liu Jingyi, earnestly saying, “Once you become a Beastmaster, you should think like me.”
Liu Jingyi pouted, “Hmph, I won’t be like you.”
She glanced at Mr. and Mrs. Liu, then looked down at the Fiery Flame Eagle chick, her lips curling into a smile, her voice light, “We won’t fail.”
…
By the next evening,
Chen Yuan had traveled across the land and finally returned to Baokun City.
The trip to Flame Mountain took four days, with half of that spent on the road, making the whole endeavor quite a hustle.
Chen Yuan casually found a hotel to stay in, planning to head back to Xuanhe Village first thing in the morning.
