- Chapter 260 - 170: Let’s Save the World Together

October 23, Thursday.
Lead-gray clouds pressed down on the scattered blue tiles, while the mountain stream twisted through jagged rocks like a silver chain.
This village, situated dozens of kilometers away from Xuanhe Village, was surrounded by mountains and meandering water, with insufficient flat land for development.
Despite being located in Qinling, Anchang Village rarely sees visits from foreign Beastmasters, its desolation and stillness just as before, even the wind carrying an old, decaying scent.
Zhao San returned here with his wife and children yesterday, preparing to take his parents to Xuanhe Village for some time.
But the old folks’ obsession with their homeland baffled Zhao San, persuasion failed after long attempts, leaving him sighing helplessly.
“Oh well, Dad and Mom can’t part with their crops, and there’s a bunch of livestock to care for.”
“We can just come visit often.” his wife advised.
Zhao San sighed again: “That’s the only option for now.”
His business in Xuanhe Village was going very well, the income during this period felt like a dream.
Moreover, he heard that upper management was very attentive to the development of Xuanhe Village, with rumors suggesting it could be upgraded from village to town.
It’s understandable, given the continuous influx of foreign Beastmasters to Xuanhe Village, more outsiders seeking employment opportunities there.
Either renting storefronts for small businesses like Zhao San, or working in agritourism and supermarkets.
Unnoticed, Xuanhe Village had restarted street construction and expansion projects, with a batch of self-built houses springing up.
These constructions also provided numerous jobs, attracting workers which in turn boosted economic development.
Unlike before, many Pet Beasts joined the construction projects.
For instance, there’s a Pet Beast called Hammer Mountain Beast, an Earth Type, shaped like an anteater, its back covered with layered steel rock armor.
Hammer Mountain Beast excelled at firming foundations, demolishing dangerous walls, and hoisting steel beams, requiring no pay, just three hearty meals a day.
Not just Hammer Mountain Beast, many Pet Beasts helped in moving heavy objects, easing workloads.
Certainly, with Pet Beasts joining various industries, many ordinary workers faced the toughest employment situations.
Previously competing with others for jobs, now possibly competing with a Pet Beast.
“By the way, I heard someone rented that old house?” Zhao San suddenly recalled something.
“Yes.” His wife nodded, “I heard they’re specifically picking Spirit Plants to sell outside.”
“It’s not an easy job either.” Zhao San sighed.
He had faced the Earth Bear directly, knowing better than most the terrifying nature of wild Pet Beasts.
Wandering through dense forests seeking Spirit Plants could mean encountering many dangerous wild Pet Beasts, just thinking about it seemed daunting.
“Has the kid not come back yet?” Zhao San looked around but did not see Zhao’s figure.
His wife smiled, “It’s rare for him to return, let him play with his little friends, just come home for meals.”
Unfortunately, it was Thursday, Zhao hadn’t found friends to play with.
He hung his head, kicking small stones by the roadside, muttering: “Not fun, not fun.”
There were no lively and cute Little Taotao here, no Puppy Team to take him around, it was utterly boring.
As soon as he thought of that majestic Gale Hunting Dog, Zhao’s face beamed with a smile.
Mom and Dad said the Gale Hunting Dog’s owner was their savior, hence the Gale Hunting Dog was considered half a savior… dog.
Occasionally, Zhao would bring some fruits to honor the Gale Hunting Dog, gradually getting familiar.
When the Gale Hunting Dog was in a good mood, it would take him for a stroll around the village.
Thinking of this, Zhao chuckled, inadvertently kicking a small stone to an old house.
He remembered this old house.
Grandparents, parents, and he had lived here before.
But it was deserted now, no other villagers lived nearby, they moved away later, leaving this lonely old house.
Zhao slowly walked over, bent down to pick up the small stone, ready to head home when suddenly a voice came from behind the stone wall:
“Hmm, this batch can be shipped out tomorrow.”
“I know, this place is so secluded that it won’t attract any attention.”
“Alright, alright, ensuring timely delivery, okay?”
“Don’t worry, they’ve picked the targets, all with pretty fur.”
“Oh, by the way, this batch includes a Wooden Panda cub, it’s of good quality, remember to fetch a high price.”
“That’s all, hanging up.”
Zhao’s eyes widened, scenes from cartoons flashing in his mind, realizing he stumbled upon an immense secret.
Then, Zhao clenched the small stone, bending low, leaving quietly.
Inside the stone wall,
A middle-aged man with a square face put his phone back in his pocket, suddenly noticing the Black Flame Dog beside him staring outside the wall, its limbs trembling slightly, tail tightly tucked.
“You useless dog, what’s wrong now?”
The middle-aged man cursed irritably, then opened the yard gate, looking left and right but seeing no suspicious figure.
Bang!
He slammed the door closed, glaring fiercely at the Black Flame Dog: “Bark if someone comes by, stop being so useless.”
This place, though remote and hidden, had him securing a Black Flame Dog for guarding.
If it scents strangers, the Black Flame Dog will start yapping.
But faced with its reprimanding owner, the Black Flame Dog did not respond, just kept staring at the stone wall.
