Chapter 234: Chapter 215: I Really Like That Fifth Brother of Yours
Getting into the carriage, Qian Zhenhao took Xiao Mo to the City Lord’s Mansion.
Passing through the gates of the City Lord’s Mansion, Xiao Mo was greeted by the sight of an incredibly lavish courtyard.
A path of bluestone slabs wound through three moon gates, flanked by gilded bronze crane lampposts.
Steps carved from single blocks of jasper had been polished smooth at the edges, with soft green moss growing in the crevices.
Several century-old osmanthus trees grew in the courtyard. A golden-wire birdcage hung from their branches, housing a Hwamei. Judging by its eyes, the bird had just begun to awaken its spiritual intelligence.
Pure gold bells hung from the dark-tiled, upturned eaves, chiming whenever the wind blew.
The railings of the covered walkway were crafted from century-old sandalwood, worn to a gentle sheen by time. Each piece of wood was worth a fortune.
Red carp swam in a pond at the center of the courtyard. They were no ordinary fish, but Spirit Beasts possessing a measure of Spiritual Power.
Round water lily pads floated on the surface; the water lilies themselves were also Eighth-Grade Spirit Medicine.
The carved doors of the main hall were covered in simple gauze. Through it, one could see bamboo-strip lanterns hanging within, all of which had the effect of Gathering Spirit.
Silk landscape paintings hung on the walls, clearly the work of a master.
Taking in everything at the City Lord’s Mansion, Xiao Mo asked Qian Zhenhao, “Fourth Brother, did all of this belong to the original City Lord of Fengye City?”
“Of course not.” Qian Zhenhao chuckled. “Only a portion belonged to the former City Lord. Most of it is what your Fourth Brother here has collected over the years. What do you think? Not bad, eh?”
“It certainly is impressive…”
Xiao Mo replied noncommittally, sighing inwardly.
’From what I understand, the Wangchuan Sect is no Major Sect.’
’Although Fourth Brother is an Inner Sect Disciple of the Wangchuan Sect, the resources required for daily cultivation are immense. He couldn’t have saved much.’
’So, for Fourth Brother to have collected so many Spirit Medicines, Spirit Grasses, and Spirit Beasts in these few years… it’s unlikely he managed it just from Sect rewards and treasure hunting.’
’Most of the things in this City Lord’s Mansion are probably stained with the blood of Cultivators.’
Just as Qian Zhenhao was proudly showing Xiao Mo around, a woman approached them.
The woman wore a long, light purple gauze dress. The dress was slit high on the side like a cheongsam, reaching the top of her thigh. A butterfly-shaped jade pendant hung at the apex of the slit, drawing attention to her fair skin.
She wore ankle-wrap sandals with high heels that accentuated her long legs. Silk ribbons wound up her calves, pressing faint, pale indentations into her skin.
A sash cinched her waist, which only served to make her ample Zishan Snow Sea appear even more prominent.
Her features were lovely, and with rouge applied, she gave off a seductive, almost bewitching charm.
Because the dress was so sheer, Xiao Mo could even see her skin and the bodice she wore beneath the fine gauze.
It reminded Xiao Mo of the Ten Thousand Flowers Peak of the Wandao Sect.
Many of the Cultivators there dressed in a similar fashion.
However, the moment Qian Zhenhao saw the woman, his expression became utterly deferential, his eyes betraying a hint of fear.
“Greetings, Senior Sister Liu!”
Qian Zhenhao hurried forward and bowed deeply in a display of utmost respect.
He looked as if he were about to kneel on the ground.
“Mm.” The woman nodded, smiling. “There’s no need for such formalities, Junior Brother.”
As she finished speaking, the woman’s gaze fell upon Xiao Mo, who stood beside Qian Zhenhao. Her eyes widened for a moment, then her stare grew feverish, as if she were looking at a delectable meal. She couldn’t help but swallow, looking like she wanted to devour him on the spot.
“And this gentleman is…?” the woman asked Qian Zhenhao, tracing a finger across her collarbone.
“To answer Senior Sister, this is my sworn brother, Xiao Mo, from whom I was separated for many years,” Qian Zhenhao said, straightening up. “My brother is a Loose Cultivator. I was just about to recommend my fifth brother to join the Wangchuan Sect.”
“Xiao Mo, this is our Wangchuan Sect’s Eldest Senior Sister—Senior Sister Liu Yueya. She is the Sect Leader’s most prized disciple! More than that, she is a Great Cultivator at the Perfection stage of the Golden Core Realm!” Qian Zhenhao introduced.
“Greetings, Miss Liu.” Xiao Mo stood straight, saluting with his hand on his saber, his tone indifferent.
“Miss Liu? Hehehe…” Hearing his form of address, Liu Yueya couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
Liu Yueya stepped forward, reaching a delicate hand toward Xiao Mo’s firm chest as she said, “You should call me Senior Sister, Little Junior Brother.”
But just as Liu Yueya’s hand was about to touch him, Xiao Mo took a step back, avoiding her.
Both Liu Yueya and Qian Zhenhao froze for a second.
“Please don’t be offended, Senior Sister,” Qian Zhenhao explained hurriedly, though it was unclear if he was trying to protect Xiao Mo or simply afraid of her wrath. “My fifth brother has always been a bit rigid and aloof.”
“Oh, it’s fine, it’s fine,” Liu Yueya said with a smile. “I happen to like junior brothers who are just like that.”
Liu Yueya turned back to Qian Zhenhao. “Junior Brother Qian, I have something to discuss with you.”
“Of course, Senior Sister.”
Qian Zhenhao nodded quickly, then summoned a Maid to lead Xiao Mo to the courtyard where he would be staying.
After Xiao Mo had left, Liu Yueya asked, “Martial Uncle sent me to ask you—how are things progressing?”
“To answer Senior Sister, the Array is in place and is now gathering Spiritual Power,” Qian Zhenhao reported truthfully. “If all goes according to plan, we can perform the blood sacrifice on the city in four days at most.”
“Mm.” Liu Yueya nodded and shot Qian Zhenhao a look. “This blood sacrifice of all of Fengye City is to help you break through to the Perfection stage of the Cave Mansion Realm. You cannot afford to fail. Otherwise, Martial Uncle will be very disappointed in you.”
“I understand,” Qian Zhenhao said, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
“By the way, what about the Yin-Yang Eye I asked for?” Liu Yueya didn’t actually care about her junior brother; her own interests were all that mattered.
“To answer Senior Sister, that woman, Wang Qian, still refuses to let her daughter join the Wangchuan Sect. But it’s not a major issue. In four days, when the Array activates, we will ensure Wang Qian dies. Then we’ll deceive Ning Wei, telling her that an evil Cultivator sacrificed all of Fengye City, including her mother.
At that point, she will certainly dedicate herself to cultivation in order to avenge her mother.
Once she reaches the Cave Mansion Realm, she’ll be ready to serve as your medicine primer!”
Qian Zhenhao looked completely confident in his plan.
“Excellent.”
Liu Yueya walked to Qian Zhenhao’s side and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“You know, the thing I value most about you is that you’re smart. It saves me a lot of trouble. So, whatever you do, don’t disappoint me.”
“Yes!” Qian Zhenhao nodded emphatically.
“Oh, that’s right.” Liu Yueya took a vial of Elixirs from her Storage Pouch and handed it to Qian Zhenhao.
“Senior Sister, what is this?” Qian Zhenhao asked, confused.
“Your fifth brother… his Blood Qi is incredibly vigorous, and he’s remarkably handsome. I like him very much.”
Liu Yueya licked her lips.
“This Elixir stimulates a man’s Blood Qi. Have him take one pill a day for exactly four days.
After four days, he’ll be a perfect Furnace Cauldron. I intend to use him for my cultivation and enjoy myself thoroughly.”
