City of Desire [Kingdom Building] - Chapter 887: Tempest

Proofread by Thomas F
I suddenly woke up, feeling something I had never felt before. It felt like a storm that was finally calming down.
It took me a moment to realise what it was, and I immediately got up from my bed.
“Tempest,”
I am feeling it from him; the chaotic storm of energy is quieting down, and that only means one thing. His advancement is nearly complete.
“My lord,”
Major Lt. Colonel Silvan greeted me as I got out of my bedroom. He is Zela’s replacement mage for the night.
“Have you sensed something, my lord?” he asked, with his staff lighting up in spells. I could already see two captains behind him becoming alert while three rogues were moving across the room in search of danger.
“No, Tempest is nearly finished with his advancement,” I replied and walked toward the door.
“Please wait, my lord, I will gather your guards,” he said. To that, I shook my head. The man opened his mouth, but closed it, and a moment later, his staff lit up.
It took me a minute to walk out of the keep, and to my surprise, a group of riders was waiting for me.
There is also Lola.
“Everything is fine, go to sleep,” I said to her. It’s an hour before dawn.
Both of us leaving might not look good. We need to remain calm- especially when we are hosting important guests in the city. We need to show that everything is safe and stable.
“Be careful, Lord Silver,”
I nodded before mounting the beast. A moment later, I rode out of the compound.
At this hour, the city streets are mostly empty.
There are police patrolling the streets, but they were already informed. Nobody stopped us. Even the city gates were open by the time we reached it.
The skills were activated as we rode, unlike yesterday. There were only a few carriages on the road. Usually, the carriage coming from a merchant state stopped at Renin for the night.
Because the streets were mostly empty, we rode faster.
A few minutes into it, I focused on the feeling. The chaotic storm is slowly abating. With its speed, it would have been fine if I hadn’t hurried, but I don’t mind.
I want to be there.
I could feel the power of the chaotic storm and could understand how powerful Tempest would be when he awoke.
In this dominion, only three people can handle it; if something goes wrong. Leila and Baron Harrods are all still at the boundary, keeping an eye on enemies.
Only I am here, and I need to be near Tempest.
There are many guards, including a few Lv. 30’s, but even they wouldn’t be able to stop him. A lot of them might die if Tempest attacked them after advancing.
The monsters change when they come out of it; they even attack their masters.
It is a very common thing among the wild monsters that had been tamed. Their wild tendencies are reinforced by advancement, which also makes them more powerful.
It took less than twenty minutes before we reached the familiar building.
“My lord,” a woman in uniform greeted me as I dismounted. “Pull your men back, Colonel. It might get dangerous,” I ordered.
The woman looked surprised, but nodded, and the next moment, the soldiers began to pull back.
I watched them as I entered the building. Soon, I reached the room where he was, but I didn’t enter.
It is a critical moment, and I don’t want to disturb him. It’s very important that he succeeds. If he failed, he would die; if he somehow survived, he would turn into a crazed monster that would attack anything in its path.
I could feel him, but I could not see him.
Around him is a thick fog of purple, in which bronze lightning is flashing. It is giving off a very powerful enough. Enough to raise all the hair on my body.
He is going to be powerful. It made me excited, but also nervous.
Minutes passed, and soon, an hour passed by, and the first rays of the sun began to come out of the sky. The fog had thickened, and now it is covering him in his shape.
The chaotic storm had now started to calm rapidly, and in a few minutes, it would be over.
I couldn’t help but get excited when I saw it and waited in nervous anticipation. Minutes passed, and fog entered inside him, until I could finally see him.
“My god!”
I couldn’t stop myself from gasping as I saw the changes. They are huge and are becoming more apparent as time passes.
More and more of the fog entered his body, bringing more changes and calming the chaotic storm, until finally, all the fog entered his body, and the storm ended.
Radiant bronze lightning materialized and swam across his body, and he got up before opening his eyes.
As he did, he neighed loudly, giving me a shock. The neigh was loud and powerful, but it did not shock me as its primal resonance had.
It is as powerful as it was in the bear, but unlike the bear, Tempest’s bloodline is far more powerful.
If primal resonance is this powerful when he had just advanced. I couldn’t help but wonder how powerful it would become in months and years.
I pushed those thoughts and looked at him; he had changed a lot.
He had grown slightly, with every muscle becoming more defined. Making one feel like there is a deep power in every fibre of his muscle, and there is.
Though it’s not the biggest change, it is the scales.
Earlier, they covered only the legs, and a few covered his body, but now they have reached up to his stomach, with the neck and head fully covered in scales.
He did not lose the mane; it became shinier and thicker. Making him look majestic.
The second biggest physical change is the colour of the scales. From bright bronze, they had become burnished bronze, while the lightning had become radiant bronze.
I felt the lightning, and I couldn’t help but shudder. It had become far more powerful than before.
I was admiring him when I felt his eyes on me. I could feel the challenge through them.
This is the critical moment.
I need to show him that I am stronger than he is. Dominate him, like I did when I first rode him. Suppress him such that it would crush his rebelling instinct.
“Tempest congratulations,” I said as I stepped into the hall.
As I did, aura bloomed out of me, and I activated Lord’s Presence, pressing him with it.
He neighed in defiance, taking a step toward me. I smiled and unloaded the full power of my aura onto him, and I could feel him shake.
Yes, you have become powerful, but so have I.
The battle with the Voltwing Tiger had even pushed me further. I could feel that my control over my aura had strengthened further.
His eyes lowered, but only for a moment before it neighed again, thick bronze lightning bolt swimming across its body.
He really is resisting. The next moment, I brought out my trump card.
The power of the artifact entered my aura. As it happened, his legs shook, and he resisted, but only for a moment, before he lowered his head.
I can see from the link that he submitted.
“Good boy,” I said as I appeared beside him and petted his head, feeling the scales, which were now warm.
I could feel the strength, and I knew it would be much harder to injure him than before.
A moment later, I mounted him; I shouldn’t until I know his power. Especially those lightning bolts; I thought he might attack me with them, but he had kept them away from me.
“Forward,” I commanded.
I didn’t have to; the link and intention were more than enough. He listened and moved forward.
A few seconds later, I rode out of the building and was surprised to see the number of people watching from outside the wide perimeter the guards had created.
I could see six barons, merchants, and many other guests of yesterday’s party, looking at Tempest with wide eyes.
He neighed, looking at them, sending a wave of primal surge that made them step back in shock. They had expected him to be powerful, but now they have got a true glimpse of it.
“Tempest,” I warned.
Once is enough. He closed his mouth, rather unwillingly.
“My lord barons, I hope you will give me permission to ride through your territory,” I said to the three barons.
I could feel Tempest’s emotions, and he wants to run. I don’t think I would be able to stop him even if I wanted to, and I do not.
I want to see how fast Tempest has become.
I would have taken the main road, but it would be busier, and I don’t know how well he could control himself after the advancement.
The smaller road through their territories would be much safer.
I do not need their permissions; it is one of the exceptions I have. They are not new; they have been there since they got the baronies.
Still, asking for permission is polite.
“Of course, my lord,” replied Baron Tharnell, while the other two nodded, seeing that I smiled and Tempest turned.
…
Gavain Pharon, Lord of Jalrux, Navr
“He is likely to come to the fortress in the coming days,” I said as I flipped through the pages of intelligence.
It was in the battle that Silver had fought. That young man is growing stronger at a surprising rate. I did not expect the person I saw a few years ago would reach that height.
He was nobody then.
Aside from his trip to the dungeon and the little incident with Yatsal. He did nothing noteworthy while he was in the kingdom.
“Good, it will help us test his strength,” replied Yatsal in front of me.
I could not see his face, but I could see that the man was grinning.
It’s been quite a while since we last tested our neighbour. Since he is coming personally, we are going to do it.
I just hope he will not disappoint us.
“How is Mardan?” I asked. His most powerful student will be in charge of this. “Very excited,” he replied while I sighed.
“Tell him to keep his excitement contained. We don’t want the Cardile incident repeated,” I warned. That incident had caused me quite a headache.
Mardan got lost in battle and ended up killing the person. I had to take quite a beating for that incident.
“He understands it very well,” replied Yatsal.
“Also remind him and other pillars and officers, that we are testing them, not fighting them,” I said.
Silver is doing a better job than I expected with the trade. It is increasing every month, and I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise it.
We are rich and could do without trade with Renwell, but that doesn’t mean we need to.
I lived long enough to understand that I shouldn’t close any roads unless I have to.
This trade had been helpful to us. So, until Vris’alud succeeds or we release our horde, I don’t want to do anything that would harm the trade route.
“I already warned them, and I will do it before they begin,” he stated.
I nodded and turned to the second file. It’s about another neighbour, the Kingdom of Mahal. Something interesting is going to happen there soon.
