Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1687 1687: Wings and Flame (Part 1)

Adam wasn’t the first to attack the Dark Knight, Loargh did, but it was Adam who proved that the Dark Knight wasn’t invulnerable.
He was a powerful monster, likely stronger than any of them individually, but the gap in their strength wasn’t insurmountable.
The Dark Knight was wounded, more precisely, in three places at once by Adam’s imaginary blades. Sure, he had enough energy and strength to ignore these wounds, but sooner or later, he would reach his limit.
Either way, Adam had used one of his most powerful abilities. This was clear because it affected the Dark Knight, so he needed a short break.
“Are you ready?” Loargh glanced at Vyora.
Usually, she was confident in her victory, but since she always tried to realistically assess her strength, she doubted they could defeat the Dark Knight.
The meteorite fall was one of her strongest abilities, not counting the Hollow Mark. The Dark Knight had made her meteorite look like a harmless pebble and nothing more.
Vyora bit her lip.
“Yes! Even if the two of us can’t defeat that bastard, we have to inflict significantly more wounds on him!”
“Glad to hear it.”
At that very moment, Loargh dropped his robe, revealing his back, which bore a massive tattoo – his Hollow Mark.
Adam noticed it, comparing it to Loargh’s Hollow Mark. It was the only mark he had seen before.
“Wow, why is it so big?” Adam wondered.
Loargh’s Hollow Mark resembled the symbol of wings spread wide, with curved edges and intricate details. Like most Hollow Marks, his did not reflect the exact essence of his ability, but gave a hint of its nature.
Following him, Vyora grabbed the edges of her robe, revealing the Hollow Mark on her chest.
Unlike Loargh’s, it was small, comparable to Larth’s mark on his shoulder, and its symbol wasn’t as clear as Loargh’s.
With some difficulty, Adam was able to make out two details: a staff and a flame.
“Hmm,” Adam hummed inwardly as his gaze turned to Sarka. “I wonder where your mark is?”
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Two powerful auras emanated from Loargh and Vyora as their Hollow Marks glowed brightly, filling them with power.
The Dark Knight turned toward them. He wanted to continue fighting Adam, he was now the main threat to him, but not the only one.
“Tsk.” The Dark Knight growled irritably. “Two monsters from the dome pillar think your Hollow Marks will make me afraid?”
Loargh shrugged.
“Who knows? In our last skirmish, you outpaced me. I hope you realize I can’t let that happen again?”
At that very moment, their eyes glowed brightly as their transformation began.
Adam watched closely, seeing stages almost identical to those Larth had gone through.
Their hair filled with light. Loargh’s black hair turned white, while Vyora’s crimson hair became even brighter, now resembling flames. In their left eyes was the round grid, just like Larth’s.
Then, broad white wings, consisting solely of energy, grew from Loargh’s back. For Vyora, it became a blazing fire tiara.
Adam nodded deeply. When Larth activated the Hollow Mark, he too had elements consisting solely of energy: his gloves, boots, and five orbs hovering behind his back.
“So now it’s time for something more serious, isn’t it?”
In the next moment, heavy iron boots made of white metal appeared on Loargh’s legs, reaching to his knees with sharp edges. Unlike his wings, the boots were a physical object, just like Larth’s spear earlier.
With a confident look, Vyora extended her hand forward as a heavy staff with a large crystal orb at its tip appeared in her grasp.
Now, Adam was convinced that all Hollow Marks worked in a similar way.
‘First, their bodies are filled with energy from their marks, then the energy takes on some form, their weapon appears, and a grid appears in their eyes…’
He frowned.
‘So does that mean I was right the very first time? Is this a combination of several different enhancements possessed by other races?’
However, even though Loargh and Vyora’s auras were now significantly stronger than they were just a few moments ago, the Dark Knight did not doubt his victory.
His posture was just as confident as before.
“Vyora, it seems our opponent still underestimates us. I can’t see his eyes, but I sense arrogance emanating from him. We must correct that.”
With a serious look, Vyora nodded.
“It shall be done.”
She pointed her staff at the Dark Knight. The flame inside the orb swirled in a wild vortex before fading away.
‘Hmm?’ Adam tilted his head, confused. ‘Did she do something wrong?’
As the thought crossed his mind, he felt the temperature around him rise and instinctively looked up.
Narrowing his eyes, he made out fiery sparks amidst the thick darkness the Dark Knight had conjured. Soon enough, the fire burned through the darkness as the fiery ring rose above the battlefield.
Vyora acted wisely and, instead of attacking the Dark Knight, she aimed not at him, but at the Frenzied Shard. Unlike the Dark Knight, the Frenzied Shard could not escape the battlefield and was his only weak point, so far.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The ring of flame trembled until a single spark appeared at its very center. In a split second, it transformed into a shimmering orb, possessing the power of a tiny star ready to unleash all its might outward.
Vyora pointed her staff at the Frenzied Shard.
“Now.”
At her command, the orb exploded into an energy blast, a giant ray of dense fire, crashing directly onto the Frenzied Shard.
Neither the Dark Knight’s darkness nor his shadow swords could hinder this power in any way.
The Dark Knight tried to remain calm, but it was obvious to everyone that he was beginning to get nervous.
Adam could see it in his aura. For the second time in their battle, it had become unstable.
‘So the easy path to victory lies in putting pressure on the Frenzied Shard?’ he thought.
‘But…’
Adam’s gaze grew darker.
‘Is this victory worth it? Will Queen Elisa’s blood be satisfied with such an outcome?’
