Endless Evolution: Last Star - Chapter 1733 1733: Catching the Sound (Part 1)

The first five minutes of the fight were unique because, during that time, not only the fighters themselves but also the spectators took part in the battle.
Sure, no one was going to step into the arena and attack Adam or Zin, but that didn’t change the fact that they could influence how the fight was perceived.
Meanwhile, lower-rank monsters were confidently betting on Zin’s victory, aware of his reputation and based on the fact that he had wounded his opponent first.
At the same time, Kaerno and Garzo, the two Fingers, had placed fairly large bets on Adam, who was a stranger and was currently losing.
This, combined with Es’aha’s anger, put many spectators in a difficult position. They didn’t know what to do.
Most of the spectators wanted to place a bet and make some money off it, but they didn’t know who to bet on after what had happened. The worst part was that they had only two and a half minutes left to make a decision, after which Leerna’s assistants would no longer accept bets.
However, those who were smarter realized they still had time. Nothing prevented them from placing a bet in the last ten seconds.
The man with long hair sitting in one of the many rows smiled, looking at Adam.
“What do you say? Maybe we should take a chance too?” Loargh turned to Vyora, who was sitting next to him.
Vyora smirked. “Who knows? I was ready to place a big bet on Adam. I was sure he’d beat any opponent after what happened at the Pit. But… this is Zin, Loargh. There’s no easy victory against that bastard.”
With a heavy sigh, Loargh agreed. “Yeah, you’re right. Still, it seems like Master Kaerno and Garzo are confident in him.”
“Pffft! Those two?” Vyora raised an eyebrow. “If they think this will be fun, they’re willing to lose half their lands just to have a good time. I’ll place a bet when Es’aha does. I trust her far more than I trust them.”
Sure, Es’aha, Garzo, and Kaerno, they were all the Fingers, just like Leerna, who was currently serving as judge.
However, even though they were all of the same rank and possessed comparable power, the weaker monsters had different attitudes toward each of them.
They had reputations they’d earned over hundreds of years. Thus, while many feared Garzo and Kaerno’s power, they looked to Es’aha for guidance. To many, she was a role model.
She wasn’t a wild beast who’d clawed her way to the highest level in their lands through a sea of blood and pain, but a proud warrior blazing a trail forward for anyone who wished to follow.
Crunch.
Adam cracked his neck as he glanced at Garzo.
“I don’t know who you are, big guy, but thanks. It’s always nice to know you’re not the only idiot here, and there’s someone else.”
“Hahahahahaha!”
Garzo’s laughter, like thunder, filled the arena.
He pointed to the other side of the arena, where Kaerno stood with a sly smirk on his face.
“In fact, there are at least two of us, though if you count yourself, that makes three.”
Adam chuckled.
“Huh, a real team, too bad, I’ll have to fight alone.”
Garzo shrugged as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“You’ll have to figure that out for yourself, kiddo.”
Adam nodded as he turned to Zin.
“Why?”
“Hmm?”
“Why are you standing there and not even trying to attack me?”
Zin tilted his head.
“Why? The longer we stand here, the more time passes, which means they’ll place fewer bets.”
“I see. So you’re still acting in your own best interest. I get it, but there’s one other thing I don’t understand.”
Zin’s eyes narrowed.
“Yes? And what is that?”
Step.
Adam stepped forward as his aura grew stronger.
“Why are you focusing more on the spectators than on your opponent?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
Zin stepped forward in response.
“I don’t want them placing bets, and there’s nothing I can do to stop them. Wasting their time, their first five minutes, is my only option. You, on the other hand, are my opponent, and the worst thing that could happen to me is losing to you, but…”
For a moment, silence hung in the air as Zin’s amethyst eyes grew brighter, filling with his power.
“Even though I didn’t come here for victory, I can’t see a single outcome where I’d lose. It’s simply impossible given your strength.”
Adam’s expression didn’t change, but Zin’s words clearly stung him.
This wasn’t the first opponent who was confident of victory, but Adam could see that Zin meant what he said.
‘Tsk. It’s not that he knows he’ll win. It seems, for some reason, he doesn’t really care about it. However, he doesn’t believe in my victory at all. Damn, I didn’t think his gaze would affect me this way.’
The only thing Adam could do was take a deep breath and take the next step.
Tremble!
His body trembled as, in the next moment, he appeared right in front of Zin.
‘I know he’ll try to step aside and dodge. But if I attack with a kick right after that, I’ll be able to hit him right in the side!’
Adam’s fist clenched tightly as his muscles tensed.
He was ready to deliver his punch full of energy.
BAM!
At the speed of sound, Zin’s palm slammed into his jaw from below, forcing his head to snap upward.
“What the…?”
Drops of blood flashed before Adam’s eyes as Zin spun around, and gusts of wind swirled around his foot.
Adam lowered his arm in an attempt to block, but Zin was simply too fast.
The impact, with a deafening shockwave, sent Adam flying high into the air as Zin’s foot plunged straight into his solar plexus, cutting off his breath.
“GHA!” Adam spat blood as the green light from the emerald clock fell upon him. He found himself more than ten meters above the arena.
Step.
Zin stepped forward, his eyes cold and empty.
“All I need is your blood, ordinary human.”
In a sharp move, Zin spread his arms wide before clapping his palms together, directing the force straight at Adam, creating a sound wave as sharp as a blade.
