Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 925 925: Abyssals Are Not Evil?

—
One thing that made Cedric curious about the trials he had to face in the Origin Heaven Continent was how vivid it was.
Don’t get him wrong. He already knew that the trial was based on real-life events, just replayed with slight modifications. He knew that the actual war against the abyssals was brutal and much more terrifying than what the trials could ever replicate.
The Lost Void and the Limitless Continent wouldn’t have gotten this barren and lifeless if that weren’t the case, after all.
But whoever did the trials most definitely made it very vivid and realistic. So much so that Cedric, even with his growing strength and familiarity with concept laws, still finds himself admiring how incredibly realistic it was.
The simulations of the Abyssals looked so real. And even though he had never seen an abyssal in real life, the trial made it possible for him to see just how eerie and…wrong they were.
Abyssals can’t be compared to demons when it comes to sheer aggression; they also couldn’t be compared to the Horde when it comes to corruption. Abyssals aren’t aggressive or intended to corrupt everything they come into contact with.
Cedric had observed them closely, and he’s pretty sure that they are instinct-driven creatures. They don’t have needs, wants, or desires. They’re just what they are: creatures that swallow everything they touch and exist.
The bigger ones could even swallow the smaller creatures similar to them. They act like moving black holes; the difference is that, when they die, they explode into pure and chaotic origin energy that gets dispersed into the environment, birthing new life and existence later on.
If you ask him, Cedric wouldn’t call them evil. The abyssals can’t help what they are at the end of the day; they probably don’t even know how they’re made.
Cedric also has no idea how they’re made. They just…happen to exist and somehow found the Limitless Continent once upon a time and paid it a visit, leading to its current state right now.
Of course, saying that they’re not evil doesn’t mean that they’re innocent either. The Abyssals are neither. They just are. The concept of good and evil couldn’t be imposed upon such creatures.
If anything, Cedric would say that they’re agents of the natural order. At least from what he had gathered so far.
They swallow everything nearby without exceptions, even themselves, yes. But when they die, they also regurgitate everything they swallowed into pure chaotic origin energy, which begins the cycle.
Although the conditions of their creation were dubious for now, if Cedric’s assumptions were correct, then their presence was a sign of a ‘reset,’ if you will.
They’re agents of the eternal cycle of life and death. Not necessarily good nor evil, and necessary at some point in time.
Alas, for those who are deeply connected to their land, their people, their loved ones, and their family, the arrival of the abyssals was certainly a bad thing.
In the eyes of such people, the abyssals are the foulest creatures that have ever existed. They come to swallow everything they knew and loved, erasing everything that has meaning and reason. Sure, killing them regurgitates everything, but at its most primal form—origin energy; ownerless, neutral, and never the same.
What’s the difference between that and dying?
It’s no wonder why the original citizens of the Limitless Continent reacted pretty badly upon their arrival. And truly, they can’t be blamed for that. Cedric himself would most likely react the same, worse, even, had the same thing happened to him.
It would most likely drive him nuts.
But that hasn’t happened yet. And if Cedric could help it, it never will.
However, since he still had his rational mind, he could see things more clearly right now. And even he had to admit that blaming the Abyssals for what they are was a meaningless thing to do.

Retreating from the trials and securing yet another 200 days of comprehension time rewards, Cedric found himself back into his ‘room’.
Since his clone now resides at the Origin Heaven Castle, he no longer needs to make his way to the core inheritance zone. He could arrive there directly from his room and return just as quickly.
Cedric could’ve gone directly to the nebula to completely unlock yet another origin law to comprehend, but he decided to delay it for now.
He’s not in the mood to comprehend another one since his real body was taking a vacation. He wasn’t really worried; his time rewards don’t come with a time limit; he could always use them later when he can.
Instead of comprehending a new origin law, Cedric decided to polish what he already has.
Currently, he’s got 22 Origin Laws mastered and acknowledged. The diagrams of which swam boldly, actively, and energetically in both his consciousness and his inner world.
22 out of the required 99. Once again, he’s stepped closer to the peak of existence. Although his most recent comprehensions didn’t advance his actual life evolution realm, Cedric wasn’t worried.
It’s only natural, after all; he’s already at the peak of the Empyrean Realm, which is also the precipice of becoming a Primal Origin Lifeform. Still, even here, there’s still a noticeable gap that must be crossed.
And while others would frantically close the gap as soon as they could if they were in his shoes, Cedric thought differently.
With 77 Origin Laws left for him to discover, Cedric doesn’t believe that he could cross that gap naturally, especially when every single Origin Law comprehended brings him immense benefits that others could only dream of getting even after exhausting their life savings.
Nicholas and Patricia would weep if they learned how easy it was for Cedric to make a breakthrough.
Anyways…
Right how, he’s not in the mood to comprehend another origin law since he’s on a vacation. So instead, he delegated simpler and lighter tasks to his clone here. And that is to polish the connection of his original laws.
The entire reason why he’s making such a swift progress was because of his belief that everything was connected.
This belief stemmed from the fact that comprehending the Primordial Chaos Laws required one to understand every iteration of origin laws there were, which are 99 of them.
The 99 Origin Laws are the law essence of the complete Primordial Chaos Law Diagram, pieces of the same whole. Which is why he believed that, despite the apparent contradictions of some concept laws, ultimately, everything was connected.
And the more origin laws he comprehended, the stronger his belief became, especially when he could literally see and trace the connections themselves.
They’re not obvious, by the way. In fact, if this belief had never crossed his mind, the connection would’ve never made its presence known to him, and he couldn’t have possibly made this much progress this fast.
Simply put, if he didn’t have this belief, Cedric would’ve never made it this far this quick.
That’s why sometimes, he’d spend a decent chunk of his time polishing his comprehension and comprehending the deeper connection between each origin law, especially the ones that clashes at alot.
They wouldn’t behave as such if there were no reason, right? And where that reason was enough to be a contradiction itself, it still represents a connection between the two, so it’s all the same.
If anybody were to be taken to Cedric consciousness and inner world, they’d probably drown in confusion and in disbelief. Hell, even Nicholad and Patrcia would be rendered speechless here.
The number of people that have been made aware of the existence of Origin Laws is very few, and even Nick and Pat—the publicly known figures who had taken their specialties to this height—only comprehended a single one.
Cedric was way beyond what any of them could handle. Matter of fact, him being able to comprehend this much and especially this fast shouldn’t have been possible at all before becoming a Primal Origin Lifeform.
But as it was, Cedric had always been built diffetently. He couldn’t be measured by common sense or contained within expectations. He’s always been an overachiever with everything he does.
If Cedric were to inscribe even a single one of the many origin laws he had comprehended and release it to the public. It would most certainly become a relic that would cause oceans of blood and mountains of corpses.
Hell, it might even sunder galaxies and cause the death of billions of lives. Even Nick and Pat would involve themselves in the competition for this relic.
That’s how valuable they would be.
But of course, Cedric wasn’t stupid enough to do such a thing. Nevermind how noisy and bloody it’s going to be, his low-profiled ascension would be ruined by doing something like that.
It’s completely uncharacteristic of him, and he truly couldn’t be bothered to deal with the aftermath of such an event. There’s also no reason for him to cause a massive civil war when things are this peaceful.
Therefore, everything stays as it is, for now.
Maybe he’d give others access to his wealth of knowledge one day, but it’s definitely not going to happen anytime soon.
