Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking - Chapter 934 934: Busy

—
‘Thank goodness Councillor Gibson made that AI…’
This is what the majority of the council staff were currently thinking as they watched, with scalps tingling, as the AI processed trillions of applications thoroughly.
Had this been their job, the sheer workload alone would bury them in this office for the next decade without ever stepping out and might just actually drive them insane.
They had seen this coming before they made the announcement; that’s why they agreed to wait until Gibson made an AI specifically for this job. But even so, they still grossly underestimated how eager the public would be.
Even the veteran workers of the council felt overwhelmed seeing the number of applications climbing, in real time, at the AI’s counter. It’s only slowing down because it was stipulated that people could only send their application once and because the AI was processing and filtering the applications according to priority while it was still receiving them.
Some of the workers wisely decided to stay away from this room. It’s like they’re avoiding an infectious plague or something. They didn’t want to be involved in whatever mess this was.
Out of sight, out of mind. That’s the mantra.
Still, this doesn’t mean that they can relax. Just because there’s an AI made specifically for this job, it doesn’t mean that it also does everything else. The staff are busy doing something else to help too.
Mainly, their work comes from preparing the tools and resources needed for the first migration.
Some are making the ships that would carry the colonists, making sure that everything was working in proper order and wouldn’t crash or collapse along the way. They are consistently troubleshooting the systems, the engines, etc. They had to do this in every single ship that would be used for the migration.
Mind you, they will need two large fleets of ships to do this, one for each chaos realm. They would need cruise ships, carriers, supply ships, defense drones, etc.
One could only imagine just how much work this was going to be.
And that’s just the start. They also have to make sure that the equipment of the colonists is made with excellent quality. They can’t skimp on this part because as soon as those colonists land, their work begins right away. They won’t have the leisure to check their inventory; their equipment will be shoved into their hands, and they will be told to do their jobs.
So, everybody must make sure that each piece of equipment is made exactly according to specifications and must be packed, secured, and protected in the ships along the way.
For this, the staff has to run back and forth to the fabrication sites, ones that were recently made for this purpose. Most of them even had to be personally involved in this project.
It couldn’t be helped. At least half of the very passionate and eager men of the Makers Guild have already been sent to both chaos realms and have been busy ever since. The other half are also similarly busy. In fact, it’s this other half that built these factories.
Had it not been for the heartfelt request of their guild master, these folks would’ve followed them there too. Staying doesn’t mean that they’re less skilled than the ones away; it means that they are still needed here and they have to be responsible. They can’t abandon their home and leave them hanging.
Of course, all of this work was draining the wealth of the council. But compared to completely emptying it just for the sake of revitalizing either of the chaos realms? This much wasn’t concerning.
At least like this, they could expect early and abundant returns on their investment. The chaos realms are rich and almost bursting with both familiar and unknown resources, the kind of which are driving people mad with desire.
That’s why the council didn’t hesitate to invest wildly. They already know that this was a worthwhile endeavor.
So yes, everybody was busy. Sure, it’s the AI that’s enduring the heaviest load right now, but it’s made for that, so it’s alright. As for the others, they too have their own responsibilities and are expected to meet them.
The same goes for the councilor themselves, of course.
Nick’s and Pat’s duty was to oversee the operations and the overall state of both chaos realms, one of each for them.
Gibson, the tech guy of the council, was currently optimizing the initial setup for the virtual universe.
After he made the AI that handles the application, he immediately went to the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm to help their men over there with their technical difficulties.
Setting up the virtual network was a lot of technical work, so much so that even accredited experts for the job would, undoubtedly, face some difficulties that would stall their progress.
Gibson knows this, and he knows it very well since he personally experienced how troublesome it could be. After all, he’s one of the main founders of the Virtual Universe in the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm. That’s why he won’t take this against them.
Once he arrived, the troubleshooting began, and he had been here ever since. Of course, after he’s done here, he’ll move to the Crimson Womb Chaos Realm to do the same. And even after that, there was still a lot of work for him to do.
He didn’t complain. Instead, he was very passionate about it. He liked being involved in all of this.
As for Berk, he joined the environmental experts in identifying and categorizing all the new and strange flora and fauna that could be found in either or both chaos realms.
He shared ideas, debated, deliberated, and experimented with his like-minded people and contributed immensely to the research that will be referenced greatly in the upcoming times.
Beyond that, Berk was also hunting for new ‘children’ to add to his collection. Aside from new environments and plant life, there are also strange and new creatures born in both chaos realms, and he was oh-so-excited to get to know each of them.
By now, he had added at least 13 new species to his collection, and it’s only that small because he’s a bit picky and had only stayed in the Black Pegasus Chaos Realm so far. Once he moves to the other chaos realm, he will certainly meet and add more.
As for Urek, he’s basically a free agent. He does whatever he wants. From looking after the makers who are working hard in creating things to building some obstacles around either the chaos realm to make it more difficult for other creatures to discover what’s happening, he did it all according to his whims.
Urek doesn’t really specialize in any skill. His strongest suit was mind-bending and breaking illusions, but that hardly had a use in what’s happening right now.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that he isn’t skilled. In fact, Urek was more like a jack of all trades. He knows a little bit about everything and could help in many little ways that would certainly matter later on.
Even the smallest contribution was valued in this massive progress. And with how many of these little things he does left and right, if all of his contributions were to be compiled, it certainly wouldn’t lose out to the contributions of his friends.
That’s the general state of things as of now. Everybody was busy and occupied with their responsibilities. Everybody’s contributing something for this project to accelerate the progress.
Everybody’s incredibly passionate about this. And soon, very soon, the first batch of migrators will be gathered and sent here to do their work.
It’ll certainly be a glorious sight by then. Billions of people scattered all over the chaos realms, building the beginnings of human civilization. This will certainly speed up the progress.
As for Cedric? Well, it’s the usual for him.
He’s in his office right now, sipping a warm cup of tea leisurely, watching all of this happen like a king sitting on his throne.
Unlike the many, many people who are raving and praying to be included in the first migration, Cedric didn’t even bother sending an application.
Don’t take this the wrong way; whether it’s here, there, or somewhere else, Cedric will be just fine. This doesn’t matter to him at all.
As far as he’s aware, he’s already done his part, even though nobody knows it. The things he did, even the councillors combined couldn’t do. It was him who made it possible for them to make it this far, so he doesn’t need to act any further.
Besides, Cedric’s priority hasn’t changed.
Whether humanity managed to completely colonize both chaos realms sooner or later doesn’t mean anything to him either.
His task was to continue comprehending Origin Laws and to reach the true peak of existence and, if possible, transcend it.
It doesn’t matter what happens first, the completion of the colonization or him reaching the pinaccle, because at the end it’s all the same.
He’d automatically get everything he ever wanted. So, why be concerned too much?pinnacle,
