Endless Leveling Done Right! - Chapter 649: The Dream Team [Part 1]

“I’m sorry, Your Highness.” Alex apologized. “I failed to control my strength. Believe me, I did my best to hold back. I even moved slower than usual to give you some time to dodge, yet my attack still connected. I truly didn’t expect you’d go down with just a single bash of my shield.”
Prince Edward, as well as his teammates, could only look at Alex in response, not knowing if he was bragging or insulting the prince with his words.
“I knew you were strong,” Prince Edward replied. “But I didn’t know that you were that strong. You said you even held back during our match?”
Instead of replying, Alex just casually flipped his hair and looked in the distance, giving the teenagers the strong urge to smack him.
Watching this exchange, Professor Gareth approached Alex with a conflicted look on his face.
“Alex, do you want to join the fighting division?” Professor Gareth asked. “We can use someone like you.”
Not wanting to affect the storyline too much, Alex decided to use his secret weapon.
“I’m sorry, Professor,” Alex replied. “I am already part of the musical division. Even if I want to join, I can’t.”
“Oh, that’s not a problem.” Professor Gareth grinned. “Students can participate in multiple events in the tournament as long as they don’t have conflicting schedules.”
Alex blinked once, then twice before coughing lightly. “I’m sorry, but I don’t plan to join the fighting division. I have my own team.”
“You have a team?” Professor Gareth frowned. “Are they… strong?”
“Very strong,” Alex replied. “They are the Dream Team.”
After hearing the words ’Dream Team’, Professor Gareth immediately pestered Alex for the details.
At first, the young man didn’t want to say anything. But when the Professor promised he would convince the Headmaster to give Alex’s club more fundings, the latter’s eyes turned into merit points.
“Well, it can’t be helped.” Alex crossed his arms over his chest. “I guess I’ll just have to introduce them to you.”
Half an hour later…
“What are we doing here?” Chuck asked Renard, Nessia, and Fran, who were all suddenly summoned by Professor Gareth to the training grounds while in the middle of their alchemy class.
Of course, the Alchemy Professor, Professor Serwin, didn’t like anyone barging in her class without permission.
But after Professor Gareth whispered something in her ear, the beautiful woman clicked her tongue and reluctantly gave Renard, Nessia, Chuck, and Fran permission to leave their class and follow Professor Gareth.
“I have no idea what is happening here…” Renard replied. “But I think I know who brought us here.”
The young man glared at Alex, who was currently hugging Fran, who was happily hugging him back.
“Can the two of you stop showing your love for each other here in the training grounds for a second?” Chuck complained. “Alex, what is this all about? Why are we here?”
“Good question,” Alex replied while still hugging his cute dwarven lover. “Professor Gareth is looking for strong fighters to help train the representatives that will participate in the inter-academy tournament.”
“And why should that be our problem?” Nessia fixed her glasses using her middle finger.
“I’m sorry I pulled you guys out here while you’re still in the middle of class,” Professor Gareth said. “But if you help me out, I’m willing to give each of you 5,000 Academy Points.”
Nessia and Renard immediately shook hands with Professor Gareth before Chuck could even blink.
“”Deal!””
They were commoners, so getting that many academy points that they could use to exchange for special items in the academy was a very important resource to them.
“H-Hey, how about my opinion?” Chuck asked.
“We don’t need your opinion,” Renard replied.
“That’s right, Chuck.” Nessia fixed her glasses once more. “All you need to do is behave, and we’ll handle the rest.”
Fran didn’t mind either way since she trusted Alex wouldn’t allow her to be in a disadvantage. Since her lover had asked her to come here, then she would simply do what was asked of her.
“Fran, hold back your strength later, okay?” Alex whispered in her ear.
“How much?” Fran asked.
“Um… just around Rank 3?”
“Okay.”
Fran was now a Rank 5 Dwarven Berserker.
She was the strongest student not only among the First Years, but probably throughout the entire student body, except for Aeris, who was one of the Main Heroines of ELO.
The beautiful elf might be the only one who could defeat Fran in combat.
“Well then. Are you all ready?” Professor Gareth asked. “The rules are simple. All of you will fight at the same time in the arena. The last team standing wins. Easy enough to understand?
“””Yes!”””
Both teams replied in unison and took their respective positions.
It was a five versus five team battle. Alex positioned himself in the vanguard alongside Fran and Renard.
“Battle fight!” Professor Gareth shouted.
As soon as the signal was given, Alex came charging with Fran running behind him.
Renard moved in the opposite direction, while Prince Edward’s team was focused on Alex.
Nessia and Chuck started chanting and soon, the two flame magic specialists unleashed countless fire bullets against their enemies.
Prince Edward and his team tried to take defensive measures, but the moment Alex reached their position, they were immediately pushed back.
Fran and Renard then attacked them from both their left and right sides, while the Fire Bullets fired by Nessia and Chuck moved as if they had a will of their own.
The battle ended before two minutes were up. Prince Edward’s team was thoroughly eliminated without being able to offer any kind of resistance.
“M-Monsters…” the leader of the Second Year division muttered after seeing how fast the battle ended.
The Professor tasked with the Second Years walked toward Gareth and asked him if they could borrow Alex’s team to spar with the Second Years.
Since Renard and Fran still seemed ready to go, they agreed to spar with the Second Years as well.
The result? They were also defeated in less than two minutes, making the Second Year Professor look at Alex’s team in shock.
“Why are those kids not added in the lineup for the First Years?!” the Professor asked. “Are you blind, Gareth? This team can win us gold!”
“I… I don’t know,” Professor Gareth replied. “They only fight regularly during training. They weren’t this strong before.”
Professor Gareth already knew that Alex, Fran, and Renard were strong.
But he had no idea that they were that much stronger compared to their peers.
As for Chuck and Nessia, the magical professor supervising the training grounds was also shocked. The two teenagers’ magic control was on point, much better than most students.
Thinking they needed a greater challenge, Professor Gareth proposed that the Third Years fight them.
But even the Third Years only lasted a minute longer than the others.
It was then that Alex remembered he was getting carried away with the training.
’Oh sh*t… I wasn’t supposed to go all out.’ Alex had been blinded by the promise of more funds for his club that he had completely forgotten that their spartan training might make Prince Edward awaken faster.
If that really happened, the story line would once again diverge from its original route, which might cause another butterfly effect that would bring more variables to the already complicated story line that Alex was facing right now.
