- Chapter 376 - 191: I Am a Rock in the Mountains

Clearly, from what he knew of his predetermined fate, this world’s power level was higher than Li Chang’an had anticipated. As for exactly how much higher, he didn’t know yet.
But regardless, for the current Li Chang’an, entering a world with a high-level Power System was far better than entering one with a low-level one.
If nothing else, the probability of obtaining valuable items was much greater than in a lower-level world.
The only thing he felt like complaining about was that he had been born as an immobile rock in this life… No matter how he looked at it, the situation was a bit hard to stomach.
He shook his head, corralling the chaotic thoughts running through his mind. Li Chang’an said, “Officially begin the rebirth!”
The moment his voice faded, the Rebirth Mark grew scalding hot. A burst of intense light washed over him, and Li Chang’an once again felt everything around him fade away.
When he came to his senses again, he found that his consciousness had, at some point, become attached to a hard, unyielding stone.
Li Chang’an wanted to use his eyes to observe his surroundings, but he quickly discovered that besides being barely able to control his own thoughts, he couldn’t perceive the outside world at all.
If he were to follow the original, predetermined fate, he would have to remain in this muddled and ignorant state for at least a hundred years.
Only after a hundred years would he be able to develop a sliver of sentience and begin to perceive the outside world.
This was obviously unacceptable to Li Chang’an.
After all, in his previous lives, a hundred years had been enough time to complete an entire rebirth cycle. Yet, in this world, he was expected to waste it on pointless, internal rumination.
And that wasn’t even the most critical part.
The most critical issue was that if he couldn’t find a way to protect himself during those hundred years, his stone body would be damaged by a century of wind, rain, lightning, and fire.
If his body sustained damage, not only would he be unable to receive a rebirth rating, but it could also lead to an Innate deficiency, which would hinder his future development.
Any of these outcomes was an unacceptable consequence for Li Chang’an.
Therefore, Li Chang’an began to forcibly focus his thoughts, channeling all of his current mental power into activating his Heaven-defying Comprehension talent, trying to deduce a way to awaken ahead of schedule.
The Heaven-defying Comprehension talent was truly worthy of its name.
But because Li Chang’an was now a rock with a muddled consciousness, just the first step of the deduction process alone took him several years.
[Heaven-defying Comprehension: By observing your own state, you attempt to combine your profound knowledge of the Martial Dao to create a Cultivation Technique capable of self-Enlightenment.]
[Heaven-defying Comprehension: By observing your current state, you attempt to combine your profound knowledge of technology to create a Cultivation Technique capable of self-Enlightenment.]
[Heaven-defying Comprehension: By observing your own state, you attempt to combine your profound knowledge of Cultivation to create a Cultivation Technique capable of self-Enlightenment.]
[Heaven-defying Comprehension: Using your profound knowledge of the Martial Dao, technology, and cultivation as a foundation, you have created a Cultivation Technique capable of bringing Enlightenment to all things: the “Spirit Communication Skill!”]
Day after day, Li Chang’an worked almost ceaselessly, focusing all of his energy on his Heaven-defying Comprehension.
However, because his current state of life was so peculiar,
the progress of his Heaven-defying Comprehension was very slow.
Ten years later, the deduction finally yielded a result.
By racking his brains and drawing upon all the knowledge of the Martial Dao, cultivation, and technology he had accumulated in his past lives, Li Chang’an created the “Spirit Communication Skill.”
The “Spirit Communication Skill” could grant Enlightenment to all things.
Any being with a certain degree of Spirituality could have its Spirituality greatly enhanced through the Enlightenment of the “Spirit Communication Skill.”
And what Li Chang’an needed to do now was grant Enlightenment to himself.
At this thought, Li Chang’an didn’t hesitate. He immediately began to apply the buff to himself.
After casting the “Spirit Communication Skill” for the first time,
Li Chang’an felt instantly refreshed and clear-headed. Even the speed of his thoughts increased.
After casting the “Spirit Communication Skill” a second time,
Li Chang’an found that he could vaguely perceive his surroundings.
To his left was a very dense forest.
From what he could perceive, the trunk of every tree in the forest was a dozen or so meters thick, and their canopies were so tall they seemed to pierce the sea of clouds.
And to his right was a rugged, winding path.
The path was surrounded by jagged rocks. Less than half a meter wide, it could accommodate one or two people at most. As for Li Chang’an, he was a rather conspicuous large rock beside this very path.
Although his perception was still not perfectly clear, it was an immeasurable improvement over his previous state of Chaos and ignorance.
Greatly encouraged, Li Chang’an redoubled his efforts, quickly applying the Spirit Communication buff a third, fourth, and even a fifth time.
When he cast the “Spirit Communication Skill” the first three times,
the effect on his perception was excellent.
He went from a hazy state of being unable to feel anything to being able to clearly perceive the land and plants within a twenty-meter radius.
But the effects of the last two casts of the “Spirit Communication Skill” were rather mediocre. Aside from giving Li Chang’an a mental jolt, they did little to improve his actual perceptive abilities.
For Li Chang’an, however, this was already more than enough.
