Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3482: Waiting Outside

Chapter 3482: Waiting Outside
“Leave?” Alex asked, looking around. “Right now? But the auction is nearly over.”
“I understand, but it is urgent and I must leave. Since I have to look after you, you need to come with me too,” the prince said.
Alex hesitated. It was just a few more minutes before the auction was over. It would be shortly after that when he would get to meet with the seller. He couldn’t leave just yet.
“I’m sorry, but I’ll be staying,” Alex said.
“But you are not safe on your own. You must leave with us,” the prince said again.
“I understand, and yet I must stay. I need to meet with a friend,” Alex said.
The prince didn’t have too long to consider anything else. He simply nodded. “If that is your wish, then please stay, but take care of yourself. If something were to happen, use our family’s insignia to get help from the others.”
Alex nodded. “I will do that.”
“Take care,” the prince said, and left the room without a single other word.
The speed at which the three departed left Alex a little stunned. He would have never expected them to disappear from this place so quickly.
’What could have possibly come up for them to have left here in such a rush?’ he wondered, but it was clear the prince wasn’t aware of the situation either. Still, it had to be something big to take away the prince in such a rush.
Alex sat back in his seat and watched the bids continue. No one else seemed to have left, so it was only the prince who was forced to leave. So it wasn’t some situation that required everyone’s attention. Certainly not his.
So Alex quickly tossed any thoughts on the situation out of his mind, focusing back on the auction. There were only two people bidding now, each attempting to outdo the other one.
The bids had reached over 41 thousand by now and continued to increase.
Never could Alex have guessed that his technique would be so incredibly valuable that it would be sold for such a high amount. Considering all the times he had given it away to other people for so much less, he could only silently cringe on the inside.
The final bid ended up being 42,200 Divine Spirit stones. And with that, the auction came to an end.
With the auction over, Alex left the room and made his way down the spiral. He walked out of the auction hall and stood at the gates of the building, watching the people walk past him.
He stayed far away from the main crowd so as to not catch any unwanted attention, but at the same time close enough to see those who would come out.
’I did come out early enough, didn’t I?’ Alex thought. It was hard to tell when anyone would go in and out with such a massive flow of people.
Alex could see both the excitement and the disappointment in the faces of all those who went in and walked out. It was abundantly clear from their expressions as to who had done well and who hadn’t.
Watching around, he was slowly lost in his own thoughts as he stared at the city and not the people within it.
Raingear City was massive in size, hosting multiple sects and big families all around. Alex had seen the city’s size before and thought nothing of it. But after what he had learned from the prince before, he had a different outlook on the city now.
This was the city where Longstrike had fulfilled the Savior prophecy. It wasn’t the first one he had completed, and was likely not the last one either. But it was one of the important ones, as the prophecy had come from the Divination God himself.
Considering the importance of his divination, no amount of prophecies could convince one of the truth as the Divination God’s did.
Alex himself had fulfilled two of his divinations apparently, which meant he was likely a possible Savior as well.
He wondered if he wanted to be a savior or not. There was a degree of hesitance in his heart toward anything prophecy-related, so the idea had a negative notion to it from the start.
Still, thinking from the perspective of one who didn’t care about prophecies, Alex couldn’t see what was so wrong with becoming the Savior.
It would be a worthy accomplishment to actually save the world. If given the chance, Alex would likely do it, despite all of his apprehensions.
But… he worried that it also had to do with his death. What if becoming the savior meant giving up his own life? He didn’t like that thought one bit.
He shook his head with a sigh and got rid of his thoughts, bringing his mind to the present. The flow of people coming out of the auction hall had completely dwindled, and only a few walked out at all.
The ones coming out toward the end were no doubt those that were either selling or buying the items from the auction house. The person he waited for had to come out soon as well.
Alex waited for another half an hour, just watching the gates for everyone who went in and out. He couldn’t see everyone, since they chose to hide their faces, but he could see a lot.
As he watched, one such figure walked out of the auction hall, taking quick strides out of the gates. However, they froze in their steps halfway through, turning around slowly.
Alex watched the woman who came out, in a simple gray robe that would barely stand out anywhere, with a veil that completely hid her face.
She stood still for a few seconds before taking a few hesitant steps toward him.
Alex smiled, waiting for her to approach him.
As the woman arrived before him, she spoke in a questioning voice.
“Is… is that you, brother Alex?”
The voice was exactly what he remembered.
“Yes, it is me,” Alex answered. “How have you been, sister Hao Ya?”
