Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3570 Talent Testing

The Sky God clapped once to get everyone’s attention and looked around. “Alright, who wants to go first?”
“I’ll go first,” Scarlet said almost immediately. “I’m probably the least talented one of the group here.”
Alex and Pearl gave strange looks.
Whisker simply shook his head. “Why would you think that, sister? I’m clearly the least talented of the group,” he said.
“Well… umm…”
Scarlet couldn’t really say anything in response, as there was no argument to be made between the two of them. Whisker was clearly the lesser of the two when it came to talent.
Whisker scurried toward the crystal and stopped when he reached beside it.
Ronron walked up to him and explained to him just what it was that he had to do. To find his talent, Whisker simply had to place his palm on the crystal and pour his Qi.
“The pillar tests by sending something into your body. Do not reject it or try to fight against it. If it senses anything of the sort, the test will fail,” Ronron said.
Whisker nodded and started.
The black pillar glowed with a faint white light as it took in Whisker’s Qi.
“Why does your mouse stay as a mouse?” Newheaven asked. “Everyone else is in their human form.”
Alex hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should explain it or not. After a brief few seconds, he gave her the truth. “He can’t,” he said.
“What do you mean?” Newheaven asked with a curious look.
“It’s a bit too much to explain right now, Your Brilliance,” Alex said, using the correct title for her. “I can explain it to you later in detail when we talk about Ronron’s thing.”
The Sky God paused for a moment before nodding and moving away.
Alex had realized at that point that he would have to explain to her about his Undying God’s physique anyway, so he might as well tell her the truth.
The base of the black pillar suddenly glowed with a bright white light that slowly rose up from the bottom as though something was being poured into it.
Alex was somewhat reminded of how Pill Testers worked in the way they too worked by fog rising through the testing glass, but this felt a little different.
It rose exceptionally quickly for the first few chunks before it slowed around the halfway point. It came to a crawling stop just steps after that, reaching barely more than halfway.
The moment the pillar stopped, the entire thing buzzed with a low voice that called out the result.
“54.”
“Wow,” Bladedance said with some surprise. She had known the mouse to be talented, but when tested objectively, he was barely above average.
Whisker’s head hung low. “I’m sorry. I thought I could do better.”
“54 is above average, Whisker,” Scarlet quickly said. “Don’t be sad about it.”
“Don’t be dejected, brother,” Pearl said. “Didn’t you hear what the seniors said? Even someone like the Archery God managed to receive only 53. You are better than her at least, and she became a god. You can surely do much better.”
Alex scratched his chin as he fell into thought.
“What exactly is the talent that is being tested, senior?” he asked. “As far as I can tell, there are 3 types of talent. One is a person’s ability to absorb and refine Qi. The second is a person’s body constitution. And the third is someone’s comprehension ability, allowing them to learn new techniques and Daos. What exactly does this pillar test?”
The Sky God shook her head. “I do not know for certain. From what I understand, it is a mix of your comprehension ability as well as the quality of your body constitution and physique itself. In a way, this is testing for potential more than talent.”
“I see,” Alex said. “Thank you for the explanation.”
Newheaven nodded. “Who wants to go next?”
“Let me,” Hao Ya said quickly. “I fear I cannot measure up to the likes of seniors here, so I would rather not humiliate myself by going afterward.”
Hao Ya stepped before the pillar and confirmed what she had to do before doing it. She poured in the Qi and waited.
“You mentioned that this pillar was here before your time, didn’t you, Your Brilliance?” Alex asked.
“I did,” Newheaven said. “It has been here for a long time now.”
“In that case, do you perhaps not know who made this?” Alex asked.
“This wasn’t made by someone recently. I believe my master found it, actually,” she said.
“Oh! May I ask where he found this? I’m quite curious how this works. If the place has any answers, I might want to visit it,” Alex said.
“He got it from the Realm between Realms,” Newheaven said. “I don’t think you would want to go to a place like that.”
Alex remained frozen for a couple of seconds. “Oh.”
He could have never guessed that this thing had been found in a place like that. If that were the case, then the likelihood of him ever going there was definitely quite low.
‘Unless that is where I was,’ Alex thought.
“Have you ever been there, Your Brilliance?”
“Never,” Newheaven answered. “I considered going there, but I never had the chance to. And I likely won’t.”
Alex nodded slowly. He supposed he understood her reasoning. Being the leader of gods during a time of war, she couldn’t just leave for a world where she would be gone for hundreds of years.
Even after the war had ended, she had a lot of work to do, and so she couldn’t leave easily.
And now, with a new war on the horizon, she was definitely not going to go.
The pillar began filling up with white light for Hao Ya as well, and this time it filled up much faster than Whisker’s. It quickly rose until the halfway point, slowing barely enough for a bit more, before finally coming to a crawl and then to a stop.
As soon as it stopped, it spoke out the result once again.
“74.”
