Eternal Thief - Chapter 1584: The Undead Race (2)

Chapter 1584: The Undead Race (2)
At this moment, behind the Undead Boundary, Ace had no idea that the eyes watching him had gone blind.
He didn’t know that the Evernight Kings had lost all sight of his existence the moment he crossed the boundary, and he certainly didn’t know what kind of place he had just entered.
The corridor behind the Undead Boundary stretched forward like an endless throat as the stone walls were unnaturally smooth, as if polished by countless hands or bodies over immeasurable time.
Dark grooves spiraled along the surface, forming patterns that resembled vertebrae, ribs, and twisted runes fused together. The miasma here was thicker than before, heavy enough to press against the senses.
Yet it did not spread randomly as it flowed as if contained and guided.
’This place…’ Ace thought with vigilance.
The deeper he went, the more oppressive the deadly aura became. The mist darkened from gray to pitch-black, swallowing light almost instantly. Ordinary cultivators would have already collapsed with their Qi eroded to nothing.
But Ace advanced steadily, as this mist had no effect on him.
At this moment, he noticed something strange. Despite the density of death and killing intent, the corridor itself was unnaturally clean, as there weren’t any scattered bones, broken weapons, or remnants of battle. Almost as if everything unnecessary had been removed.
Ace slowed down and activated his Live Fate Map. His eyes sharpened as he saw the map showed a long corridor stretching ahead, with faintly outlined branching paths, but nothing unusual.
But right at that moment, a crimson fate point abruptly appeared!
Ace’s pupils contracted. Because the point emerged out of nowhere, less than fifty miles ahead. It was completely unexpected as the range of the fate map was extremely huge, and he didn’t see it approaching or move into range as if it had teleported.
Nonetheless, Ace knew a crimson fate point implied something alive and hostile, which also carries danger to him.
Furthermore, his gaze shifted forward on the map, and he saw the corridor ahead widen slightly, the walls bulging outward as if forming a chamber embedded into the stone.
According to the map, the fate point was right there, but before Ace could analyze further, three more crimson fate points appeared in the same location instantly!
’This is definitely teleportation! Just what is this place?’ Ace thought solemnly.
His Law Thief Sense spread silently, but it detected nothing; no Qi fluctuation, or spatial distortion, and not a trace of law activation. But Ace knew that the fate map didn’t lie.
Furthermore, Ace became alert as he thought those four crimson fate points might have been here for him, which meant he had discovered. Especially with that strange barrier he had passed without resistance, making him think he had been noticed.
But as Ace observed carefully, the four crimson points began to move away from his position, not toward him!
’They haven’t discovered me,’ Ace realized in astonishment, but this only made his eyes gleam with sharp curiosity.
Since he wasn’t discovered, he decided to tail them and see where they led him, which should be able to provide him with some clues about where he was as well.
At this moment, Ace reduced his presence to the bare minimum, allowing the miasma to wrap around him completely. Only now did he realize something crucial.
The miasma didn’t just corrode Qi; it also erased traces like residual Qi, lingering intent, and Law disturbances. It was a natural stealth field as even Law Sense was obstructed.
’No wonder they haven’t noticed me yet,’ Ace thought calmly. ’This miasma is a perfect concealment environment. Or they simply aren’t looking for an intruder…’
With such thoughts, he continued trailing the four fate points carefully through the strange corridor while keeping his distance.
But right at that moment, the four fate points suddenly stopped, and the next instant, they vanished, just like before, without any movements!
Ace also stopped abruptly with brows furrowed with astonishment as he thought, ’Could it be another teleportation channel?’
After confirming he was truly alone, he immediately headed toward the location where the fate points had disappeared and quickly arrived at his destination.
But when he arrived, there was nothing, no chamber or fluctuation, and not even a hidden path was shown on the map. The terrain was identical to the surrounding corridor.
Ace narrowed his eyes while thinking, ’Illusions? Spatial folding? Or something else entirely…?’
Since he can’t find anything here, he decided to investigate the initial point where the fate points have emerged from, as he remembered clearly that there seemed to be a chamber.
But when he checked the Live Fate Map again to confirm the location of that chamber, which had been visible earlier, had vanished without a trace!
A faint chill crept into Ace’s thoughts, and he almost thought he was hallucinating, but he wasn’t, and he even wondered if the live fate map might be failing.
Just as he was reassessing and about to seek Moira’s opinion, two more crimson fate points flashed inside the live fate map’s range again!
Ace was started as it was the same phenomenon, and once again, a chamber-like protrusion appeared on the map at their location.
But this time, Ace didn’t hesitate, and instead of rushing toward the fate points, he sprinted straight toward the chamber-like protrusion.
The corridor distorted slightly as he closed the distance, and at that moment, Ace finally saw it.
The stone wall ahead was split open in an eerie way. A massive, jaw-like opening lined with interlocking stone fangs was slowly closing, the edges grinding together with a soundless finality.
Ace’s eyes flashed with astonishment, but as the jaw-like opening was closing, he knew he didn’t have time to be awed.
After confirming that there wasn’t anyone else behind that opening or it didn’t appear dangerous on the live fate map, without hesitation, he vanished in a blur and flashed inside just before the jaws sealed shut.
The very next moment, the wall snapped closed behind him, and for the first time since entering the Undead Boundary, Ace stepped into a place that was truly not meant for the living!
