Eternal Thief - Chapter 1586: The Undead Race (4)

Chapter 1586: The Undead Race (4)
Under Ace’s scrutiny, one of the five ’Abyssal Beings’ stepped forward.
At that moment, in his hand was a black talisman, its surface etched with faint cryptic patterns that pulsed weakly, and Ace had never seen those types of runic patterns before.
At that moment, he raised it and spoke in a hoarse, hollow voice, “Corpse Canyon Sector Number Twenty-Three!”
The talisman ignited instantly, but not in flames, but in silent black decay as it burned away in seconds, and the moment the talisman vanished, the chamber responded!
Ace’s eyes widened slightly as the walls began to close again methodically, as if nothing unusual had occurred.
Before the five figures could even react to the space around them, the cubical chamber sealed itself once more, cutting off the pale corridor and plunging the interior back into darkness.
Ace watched from his hidden layer of space, astonishment flickering in his calm gaze, because the language this ’abyssal being’ spoke was unlike the common language of the Abyss.
Nonetheless, language has never been Ace’s problem, but it still confirmed that fact about these ’abyssal beings’ of different origin from the rest of the Abyss of Wandering Souls, and they were most likely aborigines of the trial grounds.
But Ace was still more interested in this chamber as he thought, ’Now it’s confirmed, this strange chamber is like a transport node which seemed to be operated by location-based talismans like keys, and more importantly, what is this Corpse Canyon?’
Ace’s curiosity sharpened into something colder as his eyes shifted between those five as if selecting a target.
’They are all within the realm of Abyssal Guardian, so it shouldn’t be a problem…’ Ace asserted before he silently deactivated the Thief Shelter!
The moment the Thief Shelter vanished, Ace’s figure remained in stealth, seemingly merging with the chamber’s darkness.
Just as he expected, none of those five abyssal guardians noticed anything strange, especially the peculiar effect of this chamber, which confined others’ perceptions.
As for why Ace exited the thief shelter, it was because he was about to use another one of his innate soul abilities, which had been evolved into a spirit ability recently!
At that moment, Ace’s eyes locked on the abyssal being that seemed to belong to the Demonic Imp Race, but he stood slightly over a foot tall, overly muscular and burly, his dark skin marked with glowing runic patterns. He seemed to be the weakest among them.
Without hesitation, he figures perfectly aligned behind the imp’s burly figure before he activated…
’Thievish probe!’
The next moment, an invisible and undetectable thread shot out from Ace’s glabella and directly maneuvered into the imp’s crown apex, directly going for the imp’s knowledge sea, and the imp didn’t even react as he felt nothing amiss.
Moreover, Ace found a ’seal’ on the Imp’s knowledge sea, but the Thievish Probe seemed to act as a part of it and pierced through it with ease; the seal didn’t even react.
Ace was astounded because he wasn’t expecting the Thievish Probe to have undergone such a huge metamorphosis!
Furthermore, as the chamber started moving, none of the five abyssal guardians spoke with each other as if they weren’t interested in talking, and remained motionless in their spots without even breathing.
Ace didn’t mind; he focused on staying hidden and stealing the imp’s memories, since it was the quickest, most efficient way to understand this strange place.
Furthermore, he wasn’t worried about even if others were monitoring him because, except for his astounding stealth, survival skills, and space law, no one can discover the true depths of his abilities, and with a mirror persona, it was even more impossible to find any imperfection.
Since there was no anomaly, Ace instantly began stealing the imp’s memories in stride, and now the thievish probe has become a spirit ability; the feedback he was getting was hundreds of times that of the soul probe.
But Ace’s focus was on something else; on the memories of the imp as he fully focused on getting everything before refining them, as he didn’t want to hastily leave this chamber, nor take the risk of letting the imp walk out without getting his entire memory collection.
After all, even his thievish probe’s range was as vast as his law thief sense. This chamber seemed to jump between spaces, implying an immense distance, so he must stick with the imp.
But Ace was worried for nothing, for within a few seconds, he realized the feedback from the thievish probe had stopped, meaning everything that could be stolen from the imp’s knowledge sea had been stolen!
Ace didn’t tarry and quickly deactivated the thievish probe and retreated to the corner of the chamber, and those five abyssal guardians remained stoic while waiting for the chamber to approach its destination.
At that moment, the chamber trembled again in a familiar pattern, and Ace knew what it meant. The next moment, it opened again.
The five Abyssal Guardians’ expressions turned solemn, and a faint killing intent emanated from their decaying bodies as they turned into five streaks and rushed out, vanishing into the miasma beyond.
Ace didn’t move an inch and remained still as he watched the chamber quickly closing before again beginning to return.
Without wasting any time, he quickly started to focus on refining the imp’s memories.
But as those memories began to unravel, Ace’s expression shifted from curiosity to astonishment, then to complete bafflement, because the memories were simply too shocking!
When he finally learned the name of the race of those ’abyssal beings’, he couldn’t help but exhaled sharply, ’The Undead Race!’
However, this knowledge wasn’t just limited to the name of their race, but also about the kind of lineage this Undead Race has.
Moreover, the Undead was not a natural race, nor a single cultivation lineage, because apparently, those five Abyssal Guardians belonged to one of those linages of the Undead Race, the Corpse Clan, also known as the Corpse Cultivators!
