Eternal Thief - Chapter 1597: A Transcendent Secret! (1)

At this moment, Ace finally reached Varcor’s cultivation sector. His assigned cave was located on the third tier of the Ninth Legion district, a position reserved for Abyssal Guardians.
The entrance was sealed by a corpse-rune array keyed to Varcor’s Undead Soul signature, but it wasn’t a problem for Ace as he stepped forward without hesitation.
The rune formation reacted instantly, corpse-veins lighting up briefly before recognizing hi,m and the next moment, the stone gate slid aside.
Inside, the cave was spacious but austere. A central corpse altar dominated the chamber, carved from the skull of a massive, unknown beast. Corpse Qi pooled around it in slow spirals.
Some weapon racks lined the walls, and refinement diagrams were etched into the ceiling because Varcor was also a Five-Star Abyssal Rune Crafter, and in the rear, a sealed storage vault pulsed faintly with protective runes.
Ace entered and allowed the stone gate to close behind him before the silence returned, and for the first time since assuming this identity, he was alone.
Ace wasn’t hurried to explore the Lower Grave Strata because right now, the Great Corpse Carnival was intensifying. More Vein-Carriages departed for Corpse Canyon. More squads assembled, and soon, the Upper Ancient Battlefield would become a slaughterhouse.
Ace’s hollow eyes gleamed faintly as he knew Nomad might be under scrutiny, and the Lone Hunter identity might be compromised. But here, within the Undead Boundary, he had just gained access to something far more valuable.
An entire hidden civilization, and a treasure vault beyond the Evernight Council’s reach.
He stood still for several breaths, adjusting to the Corpse Qi here, which was purer, denser, but still nothing compared to the location where Belfast lives.
Nonetheless, the Corpse Qi seeped naturally into his corpse vessel, nourishing it. He could feel the difference as Varcor Dain; he truly possessed the full combat capacity of a middle-stage Abyssal Guardian.
At this moment, Ace slowly sat upon the corpse altar, which was releasing pure Corpse Qi, and instantly, the Corpse Qi started to circulate into the Corpse Vessel, before engulfing his Undead Soul.
However, the moment the Corpse Qi entered his ’Undead Soul’, it turned into strands of Primordial Qi, but if someone like Belfast were monitoring him right now, it would only appear as if Varcor was cultivating normally.
After perfectly emulating the cultivation state of a Corpse Cultivator, Ace opened the Live Fate Map and started to observe the movements of the Corpse Cultivators within the third-tier district of the Ninth Bone Corpse Legion.
The map was dyed in gray, meaning a neutral area for him right now, and there weren’t many fate points in the area either, just the guards that Ace had seen in his way here, which was under Ace’s expectations because almost all the Abyssal Guardian Realm Corpse Cultivators had gone to participate in the carnival.
At this moment, Moira’s hesitant voice sounded, “Sir, I want to talk with you.”
Ace was startled as this was unexpected because Moira wasn’t talkative and always spoke to the point, but whenever she did, it was something important which he didn’t dare ignore.
“What are you saying?” Ace pursed his lips as he wryly replied, “You can talk to me anytime.”
“Well, I can’t since you couldn’t be distracted before,” Moira replied in a serious tone.
After all, Moira was the only entity besides the system that observed Ace’s every action and remained with him all the time, so she didn’t dare to distract him in times like these when Ace was surrounded by enemies.
Ace didn’t retort this time, but this also made him appreciate Moira more, as he smiled gently, “Thank you for your understanding. Now, what do you want to talk about? Did you notice something?”
“It’s something I should always do!” Moira said matter-of-factly with a hint of happiness before she continued, “Actually, I indeed noticed something when you first passed through that strange barrier…”
Ace’s eyes flashed with astonishment as he inquired, “You mean the Undead Boundary? Well, that’s beside the point. What exactly did you notice?”
“So, it’s called the Undead Boundary…” Moira acknowledged as she continued, “I wasn’t sure until you reached this place, but now that you’re here, I think this place holds one of the materials required to repair the Eternal Thief Fate Compass!”
Ace’s eyes widened instantly with shock and disbelief when he heard this unexpected news, and he blurted, “Which one!? Are you sure? But there’s nothing in the fate map.”
“It’s the Transcendent Void Obsidian!” Moira solemnly replied, “It didn’t show up on the map because it’s probably well hidden or simply isn’t in the vicinity.
“However, I shouldn’t have sensed it as well as long as you didn’t reach close enough, but I think the Transcendent Void Obsidian has been used in the creation of the Undead Boundary!
“That’s why the moment you crossed the Undead Boundary, I sensed its presence, albeit vague. However, when you entered this place, the presence became more apparent, and I think it should be here, though I don’t know exactly where. All I can sense is its general direction for now!”
Ace’s eyes shimmered with elation because if what Moira just said turned out to be true, then it didn’t matter whether she could only sense its general direction, because as long as he entered a certain range, the Fate Live Map would reveal its location to him.
But before Ace can discuss this further with Moira, an unexpected, mischievous voice intrudes, “How sad, you guys were talking about treasures and didn’t even invite me?”
Ace and Moira were startled at the same time because this was completely unexpected, as they both thought they were talking privately, and except for the system, no one should be able to hear them.
“Pixy?” Ace called with uncertainty because this voice indeed belonged to his True Spirit Pixy.
“Oh course, it’s me.” Pixy snickered playfully, but she didn’t show herself, and only her voice was transmitted in his mind.
“You can hear us?” Moira’s cold voice suddenly sounded filled with disbelief and vexation.
Pixy promptly replied with clear excitement, “Oh, you must be the Eternal Provenance Treasure. How rude of me, it’s our first meeting, and I haven’t even introduced myself. Nice to meet you, I’m Pixy!”
Pixy jollily introduced herself as if she hadn’t noticed the awkward situation she was in, not to mention that Moira clearly wasn’t in the mood to know her at all!
