- Chapter 2971 1624: Doubts and Inquiries

“I must say, this ancient Light Elf village is full of contradictions and perplexing places.”
At a dining table laden with food, Leo Ray held an artfully crafted rustic wooden cup, watching the cheerful laughter of the Light Elves around him. His heart was filled with growing confusion.
If the arrival of our group hadn’t caused the Light Elf villagers the slightest surprise and could be explained by some kind of surveillance magic, then the currently harmonious scene, where hosts and guests appear to enjoy each other’s company, is harmoniously baffling indeed.
Each of these Light Elves is overly enthusiastic, almost to an inconceivable degree.
One must understand, whether it was in the Silver Moon Era before the Era of Blankness, or in the Starry Era after it, the Light Elves have always stood at the pinnacle of the Ten Thousand Clans as first-class forces, revered by all, possessing enough capital to look down upon other clans. Even when facing other first-class forces, this remains unchanged.
Therefore, the majority of the Elf tribe is known for their arrogance and aloofness. Even with exceptions like Moli, they constitute only a small portion.
Moreover, the caution of the Elf tribe is well known, never allowing any uncertain factors to appear, which is one of the key reasons they can stand at the peak of the Ten Thousand Clans.
It can be said without exaggeration that, let alone other first-class forces, even the Forest Elves of the same race would not be able to smoothly enter the domain of the Light Elves, let alone their residential area.
Yet, not only did our group smoothly enter this ancient Light Elf village, but we were also received with such enthusiasm even before our intentions were clear. This is simply inconceivable.
“This obviously defies logic, making one have to suspect that there might be some kind of hidden trap.”
Leo Ray looked at the seemingly defenseless Elven people around him, engaged in lively conversation, and his eyebrows slightly furrowed, almost imperceptibly.
Apart from this, there are two more points that make Leo Ray feel extremely strange.
The first point is the Forbidden Land at the center of the village.
From Anna’s secretive demeanor just now, it’s not hard to deduce that there must be something amiss. Coupled with that brand-new and unique magic restriction, it’s very likely guarding or sealing something.
“If this village exists here to safeguard something, then it’s even more unreasonable to let outsiders like us in so easily.”
Leo Ray’s mind was racing, carefully sorting through all that he had seen and heard along the way.
“Could it be that… this place is sealing some kind of invincible beast or a terrifying unknown entity?”
“And the reason these Light Elves are so uncharacteristically enthusiastic is perhaps to make us drop our guard, so they can find an opportunity to offer us as a sacrifice to that terrifying unknown entity? Or do they have other malicious intentions against us?”
Thinking this, Leo Ray’s gaze fell once more on the surrounding Elven people.
The room continued to be filled with cheerful laughter, including Anna. Whether it was the village chief or other male and female, young and old Elven people, their emerging smiles were even astonishingly consistent, as if carved from the same mold or as if pre-rehearsed, achieving such uniformity.
“But then again, this place is hidden in the depths of ancient relics within the Barrier Area. If I hadn’t discovered and cracked the Triple Magic Prohibition, it would have been impossible for anyone to come here. How could the opposition have rehearsed in advance? That doesn’t make sense either.”
Once more, an obscure doubt surged in Leo Ray’s eyes, continuing to ponder in his heart.
As for the second point, it’s the strength of these ancient Light Elves.
The majority of the Elven people’s strength here is similar to Anna’s, mostly in Tier 3 or lower Tier 2; it’s rare to even see Tier 4.
Only the village chief and the very limited number of Elf guards possess strength at Tier 5, and there hasn’t been a single Tier 6 expert seen.
“For the Light Elves who stand at the pinnacle of the Ten Thousand Clans, the strength of this village is practically zero. Furthermore, considering this appears to be an ancient Light Elf village, it’s absurdly weak.”
Leo Ray’s eyebrows furrowed even more tightly as he thought to himself.
Beside Leo Ray, Moli had clearly noticed this point too, unconsciously tilting her head.
In her hometown, even the most fragile, remote village had overall strength at least a hundredfold more than here. And as far as she knew, the current strength of the Light Elves was at least no less than that of the Forest Elves, let alone the most flourishing ancient Light Elves?
One must know, Elves have a long lifespan, and all possess quite remarkable cultivation talent. Even if they are not proficient in cultivation, it’s not plausible for so many people to remain at Tier 2 or Tier 3 levels.
“In summary, a series of abnormal aspects make this village appear extremely discordant.”
“More accurately, apart from Anna and these villagers appearing as Light Elves, everything else is entirely unrelated to the Elf tribe. What on earth is hidden in this?”
Thinking of this, Leo Ray nodded thoughtfully.
Is it possible, then, that this isn’t truly a Light Elf village at all but rather an Illusion Realm trial of the Stone Spirit or an Illusion Realm trap left by the ancient Light Elves?
