Chapter 298: Chapter 298: Victor’s Changes, Cassian Appears Again
“It’s an honor, by the way, you might not know who my teacher, the Flame God Ignis, really is.”
“But that doesn’t matter. Just know that he is a powerful Divine Powerhouse,” Cassian said with an arrogant smile on his face.
He looked at Aiden with a clear sense of condescension.
“I heard the fragment of the mysterious treasure map given as a prize at the Global Reclasser Exchange Competition is in your possession?”
“How about this? I’m willing to give you ten pieces of Legendary Rank material in exchange for the map fragment you hold. What do you say?” The grin on Cassian’s face grew even stronger.
He looked confident, almost certain that Aiden wouldn’t refuse.
After all, trading a supposedly useless map fragment for ten precious Legendary Rank materials was a deal any Reclasser would accept.
Plus, there was another reason to say yes: it was a chance to become friends with a student of a Divine Powerhouse like him!
Because of his teacher, Cassian wouldn’t lower his attitude even when facing Reclassers at Level 80 or even Level 90.
The only ones he’d deign to notice were Level 90 Venerables or Level 99 Great Venerables—people like Robert.
“Seize this opportunity,” Cassian said coolly. “It’s a dream come true for many Reclassers.”
But as soon as he finished speaking, he saw Aiden ignore him completely. Aiden simply turned around and walked deeper into the dining hall to get some breakfast.
“Is he ignoring me?” Cassian’s eyes widened in shock.
He hadn’t gone to the meeting point at the Golden Great Wall yet; he was here specifically to trade for Aiden’s map fragment.
He had assumed the moment he spoke, Aiden would eagerly agree. He never expected Aiden to just pretend he didn’t exist!
“That guy is so rude. Does he think winning the Global Reclasser Exchange Competition makes him better than everyone else? How ridiculous,” Cassian thought to himself.
He sneered, his eyes turning cold before he turned and walked away.
If the deal wasn’t going through, then he’d have to use other means.
As a student of a Divine Powerhouse, Cassian was confident he could make Aiden regret refusing him.
By then, not only would he not give any materials, he’d force Aiden to willingly hand over the map fragment!
Aiden, who was currently eating, glanced coldly at Cassian’s retreating figure. Inside, he thought:
“Of course, his next target is me.”
“This is going to be a headache. If he just wants the Supreme Miko’s treasure, that’s manageable. But if the Flame God Ignis gets involved, it’s going to be bad for me.”
Aiden didn’t have a great way to face a Divine Powerhouse head-on right now.
However, even if the Flame God Ignis wanted the Supreme Miko’s treasure, he wouldn’t attack Aiden directly.
After all, Aiden’s reputation and status were unmatched by any other genius.
Plus, Aiden had noticed Goust’s conspiracy and helped Bella; the situation wouldn’t go unanswered.
But how could he get the two map fragments Cassian possessed?
Aiden thought about it but still came up with nothing.
“Guess I’ll just have to play it by ear. Maybe once I enter the Golden Great Wall, I’ll find a new angle.”
“What if I can collect all the map fragments directly? Then I’d have to change plans. I’d put everything else aside and hunt down the Supreme Miko’s treasure first!” Aiden couldn’t help but think.
Soon, after finishing his breakfast, he headed straight for the meeting point.
By noon, the sun was blazing.
In a valley not far from the Elephant Empire, Victor and the others were gathering, chatting excitedly in hushed tones.
“I feel like after the adaptation, something has changed in me. My perception of the environment has improved a lot.”
Jade nodded; she felt the same thing.
Nellie, who had already arrived at the meeting point, spoke up. “It’s because your soul strength has improved.”
“That’s just the beginning. The chance to enter the Golden Great Wall is incredibly rare. As long as luck is on your side, this trip is going to be a huge success!”
Victor licked his lips excitedly. Thinking about Aiden, who hadn’t shown up yet, he said,
“With this boost, the gap between me and the Captain should shrink a lot.”
“I have a strong feeling that it won’t take long before I can beat him!”
At this, Nellie, Jade, Jordan, and the others turned away silently.
The mood instantly grew cold.
Victor took a deep breath and hurriedly added, “Don’t underestimate me. The Captain had stuff to do these past two days and couldn’t train like us. But since I’ve improved, the gap is definitely smaller!”
Jade sighed softly. “What if the Captain’s power improved too?”
“You have to remember, two whole days have passed! For most people, getting stronger in just two days is hard. But for the Captain? Is that hard?”
Victor closed his mouth slowly. The excitement vanished from his face.
He didn’t want to answer that question.
“Let’s give him some hope, though. Maybe the Captain was just out on a date,” Jordan suddenly said.
As soon as he spoke, the other geniuses nearby turned to look in the distance and gasped in low whispers:
“Look, it’s Aiden! Aiden is here!”
“He’s finally here. We’re all geniuses here, but he’s the only one who didn’t have to be here early. A true champion really is different.”
“Yeah, I heard that the real masters are always the last to make their entrance. It seems true.”
“Am I imagining things, or does Aiden’s gear look even more upgraded than before?”
“It’s just a trick of the eyes. It’s only been two days; where could he have gotten new gear?”
“It’s not a trick; it’s real!”
As the murmurs grew louder, Victor’s eyes widened even more.
Once Aiden walked over, Victor didn’t hesitate. He immediately spun around Aiden, his gaze locked tightly on the gear Aiden was wearing.
“Captain, has your power improved again? Those items you’re wearing… surely none of them are below Epic Rank, right?” Victor asked, clearly nervous.
Aiden shook his head and replied, “No. Why do you ask?”
He was still wearing his Diamond Rank Earth Demon boots.
Besides the boots, however, every other piece of gear he had on was Legendary Rank.
Upon hearing Aiden’s answer, Victor let out a big sigh of relief, his expression instantly relaxing.
He chuckled foolishly, shaking his head quickly. “N-No, nothing much.”
“Captain, the materials you gave me? Once we return from the Golden Great Wall, I’ll have a Forgemaster craft them into gear that suits me. My strength will increase a lot!”
“You better get ready. I feel like it won’t be long before I can challenge you!”
Victor’s eyes flashed with a hint of battlelust.
Just then, Nellie suddenly spoke up. “Captain, don’t these items look like they have high tiers? What tier are they exactly?”
Aiden casually replied, “Not that high. Except for the shoes, which are Diamond Rank, everything else is Legendary Rank.”
“I haven’t collected a full Legendary Set yet.”
As for the Mythic Rank gear, Aiden didn’t mention it. He felt it would be too discouraging for Victor and the others.
But Legendary Rank gear… surely that wouldn’t crush their spirits?
As soon as he finished speaking, the battlelust in Victor’s eyes vanished instantly. His expression froze, and he slowly reached up to touch his nose.
“Captain, are you serious?” Victor couldn’t resist asking to confirm.
Aiden gave him a strange look and replied, “Why would I lie?”
Victor took a deep breath, looked up at the sky, and muttered,
“Good. The stronger you get, the harder our fight will be.”
“However, my condition hasn’t been great lately, so I need to adjust. When the time is right, I’ll let you know when I want to fight.”
After saying that, Victor silently turned around, walked to a corner, and took several deep breaths.
Aiden looked at Nellie and Jade and asked, “What’s wrong with him? He seems a bit strange.”
Nellie sighed and replied, “I don’t know. He probably got hit just as hard as me.”
Hearing this, Aiden was slightly stunned. Did he really get that discouraged so easily?
He hadn’t even mentioned that he had Mythic Rank items and gear yet.
Never mind, better not say anything.
If he waited until Victor became a Forgemaster and upgraded his entire set to Mythic Rank, he wondered if Victor would have a mental breakdown.
Aiden felt that the fight Victor kept talking about probably wouldn’t happen.
Just then, the other top students gathered around.
Suddenly, Selene’s figure flashed into the sky. Beside her were two young men whom Victor and the others hadn’t seen before.
“Let me introduce them. They are students of a Divine Powerhouse named Cassian and Graham,” Selene said coolly.
On her left, a thin-looking man with black hair and eyes wearily stretched out his hand. With a weak voice, he said, “Hello everyone, I’m Graham. It’s great to meet you.”
“Lord Selene has some matters to attend to, but she will wait for you inside the Golden Great Wall.”
“From now on, I will lead you to the Golden Great Wall.”
Cassian, however, said nothing. He simply looked down from above at the geniuses below, eventually fixing his gaze on Aiden.
He slowly descended, flying straight toward Aiden.
Instantly, everyone’s attention focused on Aiden and Cassian.
